Let's see -
in many years of being indoctrinated into the belief system called Roman Catholic . . . I was taught these 'truths' . . .
Folks not baptized before death, went to limbo. . .
Folks eating meat on Fridays, went to hell . . .
Folks not attending mass on Sundays, went to hell . . .
These 3 beliefs are now changed . . .??? So -
where are the souls tonite?
that were in hell and limbo,
before the beliefs were changed???
This might be comical, if it weren't for the many mothers who were bereft, believing (because they were taught) that their babies who died unbaptized, would be banned from eternal happiness and peace . . .
hell of course
and it is humerous. very.
the fact that these people are changing around what is SUPPOSED to be 100% fact is immensely amazing. as if these men are in control of altering reality or something.
if there ever was evidence to show that religion (espeically christianity/catholicism) is 100% fake....this is it.
and im sure the masses are going "oh yeah, see....god WANTS it that way. thats why they changed it"
alas, more metaphorical babies in hell. dont blame me people, this is all you!
Introit Kyrie and Collect, All Souls Day Mass, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Taylors SC
Orthodox = The soul goes through a type of 40 day journey. On the 40th day it's given a preliminary judgment. It then begins its punishment or reward of the grave... seeing the hell or heaven awaiting it after judgment day.
Catholic = The soul immediately passes to heaven or hell (that's what I read. Maybe there's different catholic versions?)
Protestants = the dead are asleep and will awake when Jesus returns to earth for the day of judgment. Then people to go heaven or hell.
Which one is right? What actually happens to the soul right after death?
Because nobody knows anything, it's all fantasy. There's no such thing as a soul we are animals.
If someone made a clone of you using your mapped human genome, would that clone have a soul? Nope, just like you don't you're an animal accept it and live your life to the fullest, it's the only one you get.
What pattern was that? and what significance does that hold in the Catholic Church?
skepsis: I was talking about the symbol on the back.
It looked like a phoenix or something.
The liturgical color for All Souls Day is either white or gold, the color of commemorations that are not martyrdoms. There is no specified "pattern". That is a personal choice, a matter of what chasuble is available..
[EDIT] It very well might have been a phoenix, in honor of the resurrection to come. But the emblem is not specified by liturgical norms. It just happens to be one particular chasuble that that priest or parish has on hand. Perhaps it was something like this one?

I personally hate them, organized religion is wrong and should be banned. But the Catholic Church is the worst of them all by a country mile. You do anything against them even slightly and you are outed. Gays are persecuted and non-believers are subjected to lectures on how their soul will burn for all eternity unless you convert now.
What are your views?
I love how these questions are asked - just for people to be able to state what their opinion is.
But, regarding the question, the Catholic Church has been there since the Apostolic times. It has had issues in the past - and as all churches do - it has some issues in the current. Nonetheless, the Catholic Church is a good, solid Church. They're pretty close to what the original church was (though I'd say the Orthodox Church was moreso).
If you don't like the Catholic Church because of the things you mentioned - go to some staunch fundamentalist churches. They're right up there with the Catholics on those issues. And I wouldn't say that gays are persecuted. It isn't seen as being right (at least in the more conservative Catholic circles) - but that doesn't mean that they are persecuted. And as far as non-believes being subjected to lectures - that wouldn't be a thing where every Catholic does that. You can find the same thing in any church - Protestant, Orthodox or Catholic. For that matter - you can find that in any religion.
I never knew this for some reason. Why wouldn't they? If they're alive and have a mind, then why wouldn't they have a soul. Several Popes have written about evolution and even accepted it, so don't they realize that humans arose from lower animals? At what point did our ancient ancestors begin having souls? Wouldn't it make sense to assume that all animals have souls, but only human souls will be judged by God? As humans evolved, our understanding of good and evil gradually increased, so I'm assuming that God held people to increasing levels of responsibility throughout our ascent. But one way or another, animals would still have souls. People have seen ghosts of people AND animals.

I have had very close relationships with my animals. I can tell you this. If I have a soul ,then animals do too. Most Native Americans believe something along those lines. Everything has a spirit. An energy. Believe what you want. I will.
Good luck
I can believe that humans and animals evolve. But humans didn't come from apes. That is a dead subject.

Wednesday#39;s Word of the Day
(PREHR)
The raising of the mind and heart to God in adoration, thanksgiving, reparation, and petition. Prayer, which is always mental because it involves thought and love of God, may be vocal, meditative, private, or personal, and public, social, or official. Its highest form is contemplation, a foretaste of the beatific vision (q.v.). The official prayer of the Church as worshipping community is called the liturgy.

Easter vigil
Q. A fellow Catholic told me that going to the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday would satisfy the obligation of Easter Sunday Mass. My opinion is that even if you attend the Vigil of Holy Saturday, you still have to go to Mass on Easter Sunday. Who is correct?
-T.M.B., Wheaton, Ill.
A. Here’s a reply from OSV columnist Msgr. M. Francis Mannion:
This is an easy one. Attendance at the Easter Vigil fulfills the obligation to attend Mass on Easter Sunday. The vigil, called traditionally “the mother of all vigils,” is the highlight of the celebration of Easter and indeed may be considered the principal liturgy of the church year. The whole liturgical year leads up to and draws its meaning from the Easter Vigil.
