Why does the Catholic church believe homosexuals are disordered?

In the Catachism of the Catholic Church it states that god made man and woman and that is the only proper sexual order. I have never experienced opposite sex attraction both romantically and eroticaly it has always been same sex of which I did not choose. Thier qouting from the bible is extremely harmfull to my feeling of self worth as well as others and clashes with the findings of the phsyciatric and phsycological proffessionals. Personaly I find it very offensive because it means that I am not of the creators original intent. It sounds very similiar to the days when folks of other races were considered inferior.
Its not the church teachings that are disturbing but thier lack of empathy, true heartfelt compassion as well as thier speaking out againt protecting them under the civil rights laws(Of which they did support for the handicapped and mentally ill) My concern is the phsycic harm that they are doing to homosexuals. All they see it is as a sexual thing and not love.

Oh, so now you have your own phsyciatric and phsycological professionals to support you. That's fine, but don't expect the church to support you because God calls it sin.

Catechism of the Catholic Church (Sacraments)

25 The Sacraments

The Catholic Catachism teaches something that I find untrue according to Catholics themselves . . .?

"Has the Catholic Church ever changed its teaching? No, for 2000 years the Church has taught the same things which Jesus taught." (Catholic Catechism for Adults, p. 57).

I have seen this type of teaching on Yahoo ansers as well.
Here is a site that demonstrates just a few of those flip-flops.

http://www.bible.ca/catholic-flip-flops. htm

What do you think about this seeming flip-flop of teachings?

Catholics get brainwashed in their schools and know no better. That is why their schools should be shut down, they fill the children with these rediculous lies in the process of their HISTORY REVISION techniques.

Interesting site by the way.
Another that list recent issues of the Catholics Church and pagan protestant daughters is www.1335.com, especially with ROME WATCH.

What is your opinion of this piece of Catholic Doctrine. Very Interesting?

Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.

(Catachism of the Catholic Church, article 337)

Dose this point to a fairness for people who do not know God but do the right thing in there lives on earth?

Of course! Just because someone has not been exposed to the teachings of Christ, yet they choose to live a "God pleasing" life, there is no reason to comdemn them. Because the hope would be that if that had been exposed to the Gospel they would have accepted it.
However, for those who have been exposed and turn away... well, that's another story.

The Bible says not to add anything to it, right? So, why do Catholics have a catachism?

I'm very interested in the Catholic church, but growing up Protestant I've always believed that the Bible contains everything we need from God. Isn't having a book such as the Catachism basically "adding" to the Bible since you must believe in it to be Catholic? I've just always wondered why the church is allowed to add whatever random things it wants, like the Stations of the Cross for example. PS-I'm not looking for any nasty comments, just insight.
Spiritro--then who's Veronica in The Stations of the Cross, not Biblical that's for sure. I put quotes are around "adding" because I'm trying to say that they church just comes up with its own ideas that are not all biblical. The Catachism and the Bible are completely different in teaching.
Phrog--thank you for your clear answer without any snotty know it all crap.
Johnny D--you must write in English for me to understand you.

Hi Karen,

Yes, Catholics have a Catechism that sums up all the beliefs of our faith, but so do many Protestants such as Lutherans and Baptists.

The Presbyterians adhere to the Westminster Confessions which is basically a Reformation-era catechism.

The Bible says not to add to God's word in the book of Revelations and in its context is referring ONLY to the book of Revelations - not the entire Bible. In fact, there was no "Bible" when Saint John wrote Revelations so of course he couldn't have been talking about the Bible as you know it today.

Peace be to you all+

regarding Homosexuals, What is meant by the expression "unjust discrimination"?

In the Catachism of the Catholic church it says that every sign of unjust discrimination should be avoided. Unjust in what? In the letter of 1986 Letter to Bishops on the care of Homosexual persons Ratzinger states that job discrimination against them in Teaching is just as is military service and some housing, since when is it "just" in those fields? Also, a number of years the Vatican said in the letter titled "Some points to consider in the passage of civil rights laws regarding homosexuals" (I think that is the right title but am not sure) The writer said that sexual orientation is not the same as race and that some forms of discrimination against them is just and the passage of such laws can prove to be harmfull to society. Personaly speaking it is disturbing that they took the time to speak out agianst theyre civil rights. The authors thinking appears to speak of an inate bias much akin to the various groups opposed to the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 60s.
Thanks Harlan I will do that. The first one is in the letter titled "Letter to the Bishops on the pastoral care of homosexual persons" 1986 and the second was in 1994. Which said "Some thoughts to consider on the civil rights of homosexuals" To further clarify my concerns is that has Benedict realy influenced influenced by the Catholic church to be a more tolerant, loving person, or is it just window dressing?

It is an oxymoron. Is there "just discrimination"?

It goes with love the sinner hate the sin. Also B.S. You are your actions. That is what defines you as a person.

The definition of discrimination:
Action based on prejudice resulting in unfair treatment of other people. To discriminate socially is to make a distinction between people on the basis of class or category without regard to individual merit. Examples of categories on which social discrimination is seen include race, religion, gender, weight, disability, ethnicity, height, employment circumstances, sexual orientation and age.

Holy Thursday reminds us that we possess an immense treasure. When a Catholic priest takes a little piece of unleavened bread and repeats the words that Jesus spoke at the Last Supper, "This is my body", and when he takes a small of amount of wine in a chalice and says, "This is my blood", the bread is no longer bread and the wine is no longer wine. Transubstantiation means "change of substance", or "change of reality." When the priest repeats the words that Jesus spoke at the Last Supper, the bread is no longer bread, and the wine is no longer wine. Instead, the entire substance of the bread and the entire substance of the wine have been changed into the substance of The Body and Blood of Christ. Transubstantiation occurs only by the power of God, and in a way that we cannot empirically detect....

The Church must suffer Calvary just as her Master did. But just as Our Lord pierced the darkness with His Resurrection, defeating powers of evil, so too "At the very moment when Satan will be enthroned as master of the world and will feel that he is now a secure conquerer, I myself will snatch his prey from his hands; as if by magic, he will find himself empty-handed, and finally the victory will be uniquely that of my Son and myself: this will be the triumph of my Immaculate Heart in the world." (Our Lady to Father Gobbi, December 19, 1973). Sister Gertrude Marie of Angers, France said: "I saw the triumph of the Church in the near future. How magnificent it will be! It will be the Kingdom of the Sacred Heart. How many saints there will be!" The Triumph of the Church will be the triumph of...
