Today I saw on TV an item about a lot of Roman Catholic churches in the US have to close down, because they have too much debts, because they have to pay for the child abuse the priests did. Why is it that the church has to pay for this? If I do something criminal my employer doesn't have to pay for it? What is the official reason that this is handled differently?
The parishes and diocese are being sued by victims. If you did something illegal as part of your work, the victim could sue the company you work for.

I think that the pope the catholic church should sell all there most expensive items to feed the poor what would you do I know I would do that
First of all, the Catholic Church already feeds most of the starving people in the world. We are the largest contributors of soup kitchens and food distribution in the world and work constantly to feed and care for the needy.
But, we are also called to honor God above anything else and we should build our churches to be fit for a king and not just any king, but The King.
Remember the story of the woman who anointed Jesus' feet with an expensive perfume? Read, Matthew 26.
"While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.
When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. "This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor."
Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you..."
To me, this is perfect. There will always be poor people and we should always help them as much as we can, but we should first give to God. If we sold off all of our assets, the money would still run out and then we would have nothing. Many of the items the Vatican has preserve history and show where we received our Oral Tradition from. They are priceless and actually help bring money in as people travel around the world to come see them.
We must first give glory to God and second think of our neighbors. Just as the Apostles thought what the woman was doing was wrong as she could've given that money to the poor, Jesus knew what she was going was for God and thus more important.
if i were to build a catholic church, what items would i need?
You would have to be God.
You would choose 12 apostles.
You would instruct them so that they would continue your teaching.
You would give it your divine authority.
You would provide the Paraclete to inspire it.
You would promise people who follow your teaching that the teaching will never fall on apostasy.
You would promise that it would be the Church enduring for all times.
You would promise that it will always be the "pillar and ground of the truth".
You would make sure that it would be the refuge for humanity from a sinfull world.
Of course this is the example that Jesus has already founded on Himself as the cornerstone and His 12 disciples as the continuing foundation stones through apostolic succession. That example is the Catholic Church.
In Christ

I believe the Catholic church over the years has found, and hidden many writings, scrolls, parchments ect. That might not follow the churchs values of what they believe is true now.
I believe that these items if released would change how the church would be today, and for years to come.
What do you believe?
I am sure there is a wealth of information in the Vatican Archives. No doubt about that.
I am speculating, but there is probably a lot of damning information about the Saints, historical personalities, and famous people. In the name of discretion, the Church has not divulged this information.
That being said, I seriously doubt that there is any information that would contradict the Church's teachings.
