What is the differences between Catholic church and Charismatic?
Catholic Charismatic Renewal - Brazilian Youth Ministry

I would like to know everything you could tell me, any sites. Thank you. (:

Ralph Martin has been a leader in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal for many years and teaches at Sacred Heart Seminary in Michigan. This section of the renewal ministries website contains free downloads:

Here is the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services website: http://www.iccrs.org/

The difference is the Catholic Church is founded by Jesus and the Charismatic renewal movement evolved in the 1960s from the Cursillo movement founded originally in Spain.

I know very little about Charismatic Christians who are not Catholic; They did not appear historically until the 1800s and may consider themselves non denominational.

They do not believe in the seven sacraments and the Mass that Catholics have memorialized from the earliest times: http://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/catho lic_rites_and_churches.htm

There is a book called Miracles Do Happen by Sr. Briege McKenna. She considered herself a orthodox Catholic and eventually it came to be known she had a gift of healing: http://www.sisterbriege.com/

How come their aren't more charismatic catholic churches?
Catholic Charismatic Renewal - Brazilian Youth Ministry

The catholic church said there is nothing with lively masses so how come I don't see more of them? Please give an intelligent answer. Thank you

It would involve events being organized by parishioners at the local level. That requires someone to start it, and then widespread interest.

Can someone tell me what a charismatic Catholic church does differently.?

I have heard about, but have never attended one.

It would have all the Catholic basics and sacramental worship that non"Neo-Pentecostal" Catholic churches have and exercise of the "Gifts of the Spirit",like tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophesying, teachings, witness testimonies and the other practices of Acts and 1 Cor.
It would also have clapping,hand-raising,"songs of praise" with lively music and maybe 'dancing in the Spirit' . Bible studies, prayermeetings,Life in the Spirit Seminars,"discernment sessions',"Gifts Workshops",retreats, small group prayer sessions and other charismatic practices and customs could also be part of

I am attending an orthodox church in Boulder presently.

If you are Orthodox why do you want to left One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and go to heretics?

Is the Charismatic movement within the Catholic Church beneficial or divisive?
Priest Preaching

I would like to know how Catholics feel about the Catholic Charismatic movement, and if any attend Charismatic Mass. Vatican II mentioned the idea of how the Holy Spirit gives gifts: "[The Holy Spirit] also distributes special graces among the faithful of every rank. By these gifts he makes them fit and ready to undertake various tasks and offices for the renewal and building up of the Church."

It's both. I spoke with a priest about this one time, since the Protestant in me (I was raised Methodist) conflicted with the Catholic convert that I had become.
It's simply a matter of personality, he said. Some personalities are drawn to the charismatic approach to faith, no matter what the religion. For those, it's a benefit to be able to participate in a way that their personality is most comfortable with inside the church.
It's divisive in that this isn't traditional to most Catholics, and that the charismatic movement comes from Protestantism. So it's misunderstood as a movement because of its history and also because the Catholic Charismatics don't "fit in" to the regular mold, whatever that is nowadays.

  • The sexual scandals can not harm the way of John Paul II to ...

    Questions:

    1. If you compare the Church under Benedict and under John Paul II, do you see some visible changes, is there some different approach to issues?

    2. The Catholic Church is under pressure nowadays because of the scandals of the past. Many of the scandals comes from times, when John Paul II. was the Pope. Do you think it can somehow  stain his legacy? Can it harm his way to Sainthood? How do you think would Church react to those scandals if John Paul II. was still alive?

    Answers:

    1. Since the middle of the 19th century and the emergence of the modern papacy, the personality and temperament of the various pontiffs has played a significant role in how they conduct their pontificates and the emphases they place on certain policies, practices and directives. Each pope leaves his “thumbprint” on the See of Peter. For this reason, scholarly papal biographies (i.e. those based on historical documents and solid evidence) are most helpful in assessing various Roman pontiffs. Neither John Paul nor Benedict have yet been the object of such scholarship and observations about their differences and similarities must be tentative. Still, we can offer some comment.

BALTIMORE, March 26 / Christian Newswire / -- April 3 marks the 50th anniversary of charismatic renewal, the biggest revival of the 20th century that is having repercussions even now. It was on that date in 1960 when the Rev. Dennis Bennett was forced to resign from his Los Angeles-area church after announcing from the pulpit he'd been 'baptized' in the Holy Spirit.

Charismatics and Pentecostals are the world's second largest group of Christians -- at 500 million strong -- after the Catholic Church. Julia Duin, author of a new book on the renewal, will be at the Empowered 21 conference in Tulsa, Okla. (April 8 - 10), to explain how the charismatic renewal and the Christian community movements merged to create an explosive combination of spiritual power and sinful practice.
