I am attending my friends confirmation in the catholic church and I live in a different state and trying to plan ahead time wise. What is the average time for a ceremony?
Just don't show up late.
What else matters? if you have another appointment more important than your friend, just don't go at all.
I would plan on no more than 2 hours.
You could just ask your friend.
Peace be with you.
It is a shame we have to be so busy, slow down and enjoy the time with your friend.
27. Confirmation
My niece is in 8th grade. She plays in the school band.
i think it is something around you can afford and her monthly allowance. now, if she is realy close to you and she seems to like to buy something pricey and you feel generous, you might consider this. but if you feel you are giving her quite an amount, you can also consult your sibling (her parents) about the amount.
My boyfriend and I have been wondering about this for awhile, because of our possible engagement. He has gone through confirmation and the whole catholic thing, and i haven't.Is it still possible to get married in a catholic church by a priest if i haven't been confirmed?
i haven't been baptized either.
i have no religion,i have no been through communion.
i have done nothing religious.
Yes.
The Catholic Church allows marriage between Catholics and non-baptized persons. You will have to get permission from the bishop. This is because the Church recognizes the tremendous challenge you have ahead of you.
Make an appointment with your parish priest and talk to him about your situation.

I know its one of the 7 sacraments but what does it mean?
Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments, namely Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders.
Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation, namely Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. A person who has received all three of these sacraments is considered a fully initiated Catholic.
The priest or bishop lays their hands upon the person receiving Confirmation, the priest or bishop says, "Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit," the person says, "Amen," and then they are anointed with holy oil (just like King David).
Confirmation:
• Brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace:
• Roots us more deeply in the divine childhood which makes us cry, "Abba! Father!"
• Unites us more firmly to Christ;
• Increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us;
• Renders our bond with the Church more perfect
• Gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross
A fully initiated Catholic can be:
• A godparent
• A Confirmation sponsor
• A lector who reads scripture at Mass
• An extraordinary minister of the Eucharist
. • At Mass
. • To the sick
• A Sacristan
• A Cantor
• And many other ministries

I was never confirmed. Even as a youth, I didn't think this made sense. What does "confirmation" mean? What does it signify? Can it save souls?
• Confirmation - When a Catholic youth in the eighth grade chooses to let the Holy Spirit come down on them freely. It strengthens the bond you have with the Holy Spirit and is also an official recognition of the Church that you are now a "soldier of Christ" or ready to defend the faith alone. That is you are not just doing what you were brought up to do, you understand and truly believe in the Catholic faith. This concept is also referred by the Bible.
{“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children” - Romans 8:16
{“When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our hearts and gives us assurance that He is present and that we belong to Him, and He also teaches and explains spiritual things to us” - 1 Corinthians 2:13-14 “thereby confirming that we are new creations in Christ” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

The bConfirmation/b Question | bCatholic/b Exchange
Today I overheard a very interesting conversation regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation. Two women, both involved in religious education, were discussing whether teenagers should be made to make their confirmation. They both agreed that they should. They felt that it was part of the responsibility of the parents to make sure this happens. They promised to raise their children in the faith at Baptism. This is the culmination of that process. I admit, this is not how I ever looked at this particular sacrament. I understand their position, but I have always been staunchly of the opinion that Confirmation needs to be freely chosen by the candidate. It needs to be that person’s commitment to the faith.
In our current culture, children are brought forth for Baptism at an early age. My own children were both less than two months old. Yes, I made that commitment for them. I promised to raise them as a Catholics and to teach them the faith. My older son now receives Communion and goes to Reconciliation regularly. He was excited to have the opportunity to do so. My younger son will be receiving those sacraments this year and is also very excited. I hold out hope that when the time comes for them to make their Confirmation, they will be ready to make that personal commitment to the faith.
...The relics of St Thérèse « Bridges and Tangents
The relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux have arrived in Britain, as they begin a month long tour of the country. They are stopping at numerous churches, monasteries and Cathedrals (including York Minster), with time to take in a hospice for the dying and Wormwood Scrubs prison. They will spend the final week in London, ending with four days in Westminster Cathedral. There are so many articles you can read about the visit – here is a recent one from the Guardian , and from the Telegraph .

Just to get the facts: These are some bones of a young nineteenth century French nun, carried around in an ornate casket for people to venerate. To any hardened secularists it must be baffling; and to many Protestants it will be a confirmation that the Catholic Church is stuck in an age of superstition and medieval heresy. But to Catholics it is the most natural thing in the world to pray to the saints, to visit a shrine, and by extension to go on pilgrimage to those places where the memory and the mortal remains of the saints are preserved. The tour of St Thérèse’s relics is a pilgrimage in reverse – she comes to us and saves us the bother of taking the ferry to Normandy.
