Does the catholic church think that easter is the most important festival in the christian year?
The Church Of Chandor Goa - India

Please try to give some examples to prove your answer!

Absolutely!

Aside from the great examples others gave you, let me tell you this. My parish is in the middle of planning to build a new church. Someone asked if the set-up would work for Easter (due to Baptisms and the greater number of people attending). Another parishioner said "well we can't build a church around Easter." The Pastor said, "well actually, that's exactly what we do." Easter being the Central Mystery, the Highest of all Holy Days, everything we do must revolve around it.

What happens to the old Easter candles in the Catholic Church?
The Resurrection

The Candles are blessed by a priest so the candles are holy. So they simply aren't thrown in a dump! Am I right?

They are blessed when completed and the properly reused or disposed of. Due to being used in a religious manner they are treated with special care.

What are the Holy Days Of Obligation in the Catholic Church? Is Easter Sunday one of them

Holy Days of Obligation are feasts on which Catholics are required to assist at Mass.

In the United States these are:
• Christmas, the Nativity of Jesus, December 25
• Mary Mother of God, January 1
• Ascension of the Lord, forty days after Easter
• Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 15
• All Saints' Day, November 1
• Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, December 8

Every Sunday is considered a Holy Day of Obligation. Therefore Holy Days that are always on Sundays like Easter are not listed.

Outside the United States, cultural variations of Holy Days may occur.

With love in Christ.

Why does the Catholic Church believe Easter to be a bigger celebration than Christmas?
Imperdible - Alicante - España

Wouldn't Jesus have to had been born in order to die for our sins?

As far as I know, ALL Christians believe Easter to be more important than Christmas. Christmas is just a pagan holiday that Christians appropriated to celebrate Christ's birth. Easter is actually the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus during the Passover. Jesus is the Passover Lamb that was slain to free us from death (spiritual death). That is far more significant than the time of his birth because it is when God actually accomplished salvation.

  • Critical Alpha: An Easter Message - for the Catholic Church

Allegations have surfaced that Joseph Ratzinger, whilst Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was ineffective and inappropriate in dealing with matters of sexual abuse by clergy in the US. Those allegations are of course unproven but, as the current Pope, Ratzinger has an obligation to allow those allegations to be properly tested. The church has long claimed that the priests in question don't work for the Vatican therefore the Vatican is not responsible. If that is the case why is it also the case that those same priests can and are subject to excommunication by the Vatican when involved in matters of theological deviancy for instance? Why have those same priests not been excommunicated for matters of sexual abuse? How can the Pope be the ultimate authority as per catholic...

Tens of thousands, including ex-atheist, to join church at Easter ...

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Tens of thousands of new Catholics, including an 89-year-old former atheist, will join the church at the Easter Vigil, April 3.

Those seeking baptism, called catechumens, and those already baptized who will be brought into full communion with the Catholic Church, called candidates, have reached the church through a variety of paths. Some have been led by family and friends, while others were motivated by powerful or painful personal experiences.

Jean Henry of Easton, Md., was raised a Methodist and "drifted" into the Episcopal Church, but rejected Christianity more than four decades ago after a major spat in the women's guild.

"I tried to heal it but I could not," Henry told The Dialog, newspaper of the Diocese of Wilmington, Del., which includes Maryland's Eastern Shore. "I thought I had a good, strong faith, but it was too shallow."
