When you go against the Chief Shepherd of the Church; the Pope, even the bishops and priests will not go along with the new mass of the Pope as kneeling for communion etc. Few masses are co-operating with the Pope 100 %, If they obeys the pope other can do the same without any excuses.

Another premise that must be considered is this idea of One Main Church that has Authority over all other churches. Where is this biblically?
Let's look at the 7 Churches in Asia Minor. Jesus NEVER commands these churches to give allegiance to any church in Rome, or to Peter for that matter. It is clear that Jesus points to himself as the Head and final authority of these churches on earth and in heaven. Clearly, if the Roman Catholic Church dates back to the Apostles and has all authority, certainly Jesus would have alluded to this, but he Did Not. Yes, the 7 Churches are apart of One Body/Church...The Body of Christ, but clearly they were headed by the Shepherds left over them, and there is no Biblical Support that shows that these Shepherds MUST answer to any One Man other than Jesus. It seems these churches were fine, without Rome, as long as they heeded Jesus' Words.
Also, why is it that Paul does not instruct Timothy to submit to Rome or Peter?...
One Church and one shepherd is no longer true with multiplicity of churches whole over the world.

Second Epistle Of Saint Peter
Chapter 2
1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers, who shall bring in sects of perdition, and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their riotousnesses, through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their perdition slumbereth not. 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment
11 Whereas angels who are greater in strength and power, bring not against themselves a railing judgment. 12 But these men, as irrational beasts, naturally tending to the snare and to destruction, blaspheming those things which they know not, shall perish in their corruption, 13 Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you: 14 Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls, having their heart exercised with covetousness, children of malediction
Assuming that you understand the fact that all other denominations of the Christianity have broken of from from another denomination (ultimately the Catholic Church) I have been wondering how you justify your current Church from further dividing Christianity despite in scripture it reads how God pleads for Christians to stay united under one Church. What are your thoughts and opinions, reasons why your Church broke off, defense and realizations on the subject.
Look up: John 10:16 - there shall be one fold and one shepherd
Romans 16:17 - avoid those who create dissensions
1 Corinthians 1:10 - I urge that there be no divisions among you
Philippians 2:2 - be of same mind, united in heart, thinking one thing
Romans 15:5 - God grant you to think in harmony with one another
John 17:17-23 - I pray that they may be one, as we are one.

I understand the corruptions of the Church but how is it justified to abandon the truth because of scandals instead of staying and fighting for it to be fixed?
Yes brother, you are quite right about unity in the Church, it is God's will. He never desired there to be schisms. But remember the first split was between East and West, long before the Protestant Reformation. And Martin Luther, to his credit, never desired to split, at least at first. He pleaded with the Pope to hear his words and reform the many abuses of Church Authority at the time, the main one being the sale of Indulgences. It was the fact that he came up against a great brick wall in Rome that led him to continue questioning the authority of the Pope and the many specifically Catholic beliefs that Protestants no longer accept: secret auricular confession, the sacrifice of the mass by a priest, the infallibility of the Bishop of Rome, etc. Protestant sects since the time of Luther have further distanced themselves, so that a great divide exists in formal practice of faith and beliefs.
But the essential matters of the faith are the same among all three main Christian groups: Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant. They all accept the inspiration of the Bible, the Lordship of Jesus Christ, his birth, death and resurrection, his return, and the eternal life of the righteous in heaven. While the differences are many, they tend to be centered around how exactly God confers his grace of salvation to man. That is through Jesus Christ is unanimously agreed. But what is man's part to play? How to interpret the scriptures? This is where disagreements come in. And, of course, sin and the Devil are at work always to compromise God's will on Earth.
I was born and raised Roman Catholic and even considered becoming a priest at one time. I read Martin Luther's tract "On Christian Freedom" and had to admit that he was 99% right. Since becoming a generic "Christian," I feel I am more catholic (in sense of "universally held beliefs") than I ever was. But it was not easy leaving the Catholic Church. I struggled with it a lot. God had to show me many things. One important thing for me was when I witnessed the gifts of the Holy Spirit active in Charismatic meetings (Pentecostal--those Churches which believe in the gift of the Holy Spirit as a distinct event from being born again or "saved"). This radically changed my faith. I had never seen anything like the gift of Prophecy except with televangelists. But it is real. There was no way for the things I saw to have been staged. I was convinced, and in tears, I came to Christ as an empty vessel. I will not go back to the Outer Court.
Among the seed that fell upon the good ground, the fruit came forth, "some thirty, some sixty, and some a hundredfold." Learn the truth of this scripture and you will have your answer.
Yours in Christ, Nick
I should say that to the credit of the Roman Catholics, a great Charismatic revival spread through the Church in the Seventies. But where is it now. I was too young to know anything about it at the time. But there was a lot of saying "Yahweh" and "maranatha" and things like that, I remember. Speaking in Tongues and Prophecy were being practiced in many Catholic Churches. Why is it not encouraged today?
According to Jesus, when your house (mind) is swept clean (by Gnosis through the Holy Spirit/Sophia/Wisdom), the darkness will come. It's those who make it through this darkness, and light multiplies manyfold, and thus love multiplies manyfold again, that have true knowledge. (Yes, this is from his parables in the Canonical Gospels, in the Bible. I've read the Gospel of Thomas, but I actually have only been reading in depth the actual Bible thus far. So yes, everything I got, I got from THE BIBLE. You just have to accept and understand the spiritual/scientific/academic connection and become as children to truly read it.)
Raised a Roman Catholic, I achieved salvation through knowledge/Gnosis by Jesus Christ last week. I was then was Baptised involuntarily (ie. did not consciously ask for it, but was Seeking and did Find earlier that day) the same day by the Holy Spirit (born of water as my infant Catholic baptism, and born of Spirit last week, both needed for true salvation), and I am now a Gnostic Christian Universalist. I always loved and studied the natural sciences and couldn't accept the Bible literally, such as a literal hell where God would throw His Children permanently, but now I can marry both Evolution and Creation (yes of humans from hominids as well), as God made BOTH. I appreciate the open-mindedness with religion that the Roman Catholic Church accepts, as it accepts Evolution and looking at the Bible figuratively, although to truly understand, you must look both figuratively and literally, in spiritual truth, and you will see. I don't appreciate the manmade doctrine of Roman Catholicism, which Jesus specifically forbid, although some of the traditions are beautiful. I have been reading the New Testament with new understanding and spiritual eyes since then. I have not felt the coming darkness yet, although some temptatations have come up. I have been rebuked each time and am trying to learn better to please God, but overall my life and demeanour, including my outlook, have changed dramatically, and nothing bothers me anymore, as I know what awaits us, and the love and eternity that God has granted His Children, you just have to seek and find as I did. There are no contradictions between Science and God, only unbelief and blindness. I however, will do my best to be the person God wants me to be through love while I am here, and before I go to Him at the end of my natural life. No one is perfect, only Jesus Christ, God and the Holy Spirit. (Sophia/Wisdom)
As for the darkness... I feel I haven't received it yet because I've been on Effexor for a few months for anxiety. I don't have anxiety anymore in any form since one week ago, although I did still have some anxieties before Gnosis one week ago. When will the darkness come? I am not afraid of it, as I have God and Jesus as my Shepherd and Saviour. I think I will need to get off the medication, helpful as it was when I needed it, to get through the darkness, of which I will emerge on the other side.
When did the darkness come and how did it effect you? Did you get through it successfully?
Thank you! Together in God and Jesus!
And please don't tell me what I said isn't in the Bible and that salvation is through faith alone and that I am wrong. For some it is faith, for others, it's knowledge. It all leads to God. I know God exists, as I have experienced his love, light and eternity first hand, so much that it moved me to tears, laughter and getting down on my knees and praising and thanking God! To each their own, and mine is knowledge, which for me is Light, Truth and the Way of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. I am looking for answers from those who have had the same experience as I, thank you.
Your topic is probably lost on most of the people here. I also found God by following a path to obtain knowledge and experiences, following gnosticism and mysticism. I am a former Roman Catholic myself, preferring to identify myself simply as a Christian. Religion may leads us here, but our relationship with the living God is what keeps us here.
I have experienced much of what you have shared, as well as the "darkness" you mentioned. If you do not mind using some Catholic writings as references, you might enjoy reading these sources. As for the "dark night of the soul" experience, it was not something I sought for. It suddenly came upon me for several weeks, creating an intense, heart-felt anguish and sorrow because of sin, in which God seemed to have abandoned me. I keep the faith, knowing He was doing a work within me Spiritually. It was very humbling, and my gratitude for God's great love and mercy grew. I knew the psalmist agony for wanting God to not hide His face and to restore them once again.
Coming out of it was ecstatic, filled with pure joy and praise, filled with the love of God to overflowing. Like Christ said to the woman at the well... from our innermost being a fountain of living water, which is His love, wells up, out and through us. This lasted for weeks as well. Just the mention of His name was full of power, and my soul was filled with joy and praise. You are beaming from the light within.
His Word in the Bible became ever so clear, with new revelations for some verses I've read countless times before. Knowledge does increase, as does the joy coming from the reading.
As intense the darkness was, the light was even more. My heart could not contain it, and I did not want it to, feeling that it would burst. These few words can not fully describe it all. Our God is truly an awesome and wonderful God.
I hope this helps, even though you already know something about it. I would be glad to share and answer any other questions you may have. May your joy in the journey increase along with your love for our living God.
