Okay, so Friday there was a lady walking around our apartment complex that came up to talk to me. She turned up being a pastor for a Christian Church who wanted to invite me (and my husband) to a meeting they were going to have at an apartment here in my apartment complex.
When she talked to us, she asked my husband and I if we needed anything from God (like a job, or if one of our loved ones was sick). I told her my husband needed a job since he had been unemployed for a year already. She closed her eyes and said a prayer, then told us that he was going to have a job this week. Saturday (yesterday), my husband got and interview and he starts work Monday morning.
Another thing I told her was that, after being married for three years, I really wanted to have a baby but it seemed impossible since we've been trying for so long. She closed her eyes again to pray, opened them, started tearing up and said this was my year and that I was going to shine.
My husband is Christian and I am Catholic. I want to go to the meeting the Pastor talked to me about, but my husband does not, he wants to go to a Catholic Church. I know, it should be the other way around. I don't know if I should go without my husband or not, but I really want to belong to a Church where my husband and I are both happy.
My question is:
Will it be okay if I go to a different Church?
I know that's a dumb question, but I feel like since my husband got a job after the Pastor prayed, God really heard us and is giving us a message to join a Church and I don't want to seem like I just got what I wanted and now I'm going to forget about him.
Please, help us.
Chruch is church. God won't strike you down if you go to another one.

who would like to see my letter to the Pope?
Your Holiness,
I'm writing to you for help and for you to share your wisdom with Congress in Washington D.C. The new Priesdent Elect Obama is wanting to get a bill passed to over turn the pro life with the Freedom of Choice Act bill and that will cause more abortions in America. When you speak or write something; The Catholic Church is more powerful than the United Nations; because the people listen to you. If you could do a speech or come back to America and talk to Congress or send each of them a letter explaining why abortion is wrong, the side affects, everything. We have two pro life marches happening in Washington D.C. and San Fransico California coming up in a few days or weeks; We need your help Holy Father and I've been doing my best trying to tell everyone abortion is wrong and all birth control pills are wrong; but people on Yahoo where I was doing some teaching or speaking about it; some listened and some didn't. I've been praying to our Heavenly Father for help and I know millions and billions have been too; maybe your help will put it over the edge and maybe we can get this stopped. I'm watching a show on EWTN; Life On the Rock and this lady has a website to help women who had abortions and here is her website; www.AbortionChangesYou.com . If Congress and the Supreme Court knew what Abortion did to everyone; not including the mothers and fathers; It brings depression and depression brings suicides and other ways to kill themselves. I don't think these people in D.C. understand what life is; because they are so full of themselves and money. Money always changes everyone; my dad is the same way. He acts so tuff and uses bad words; just because he makes more money than my mother. Right now my mother has a broken foot and still is working; she's near 60 years old and she's showing her tuff side to stay at work; but tonight my father didn't even keep one of his vows or promises he made to her by taking care of her by helping her get her food. This is what money will do to us; make us not care for others except themselves. Please Holy Father help us in America; all governments listens to you when you talk; will you come and talk to Congress and the Supreme Court people. People are afraid to do something this big as writing you a letter for help; but I'm not scared to ask for help any more and we need a big helping of help for this problem in the world and in America. No wonder we don't have many American Priests anymore; mothers are aborting their children more and more. Every hour 4000 children are aborted; I can't stop asking this; Please help us Holy Father.
Last week on the same day as today; he used my letter in his weekly address to the people and in his own words used part of my letter in a telegram to Priesdent Obama.
let me tell you who did those killings. The Pagans of Eygpt. Did they follow the ten commandments? no but yes it was in the book of exodus. reread it again. If you didn't know; Christians support Life; not death. if you support death; you support Satan and Not God.
Very nice, Eusebius. Very nice letter of gratitude. :D
who would like to see my thank you letter to the Pope?
Your Holiness,
I'm writing you today, because I heard about last week's address and I wanted to thank you for using part of my letter. When I heard about that last night I was very happy and excited and so I taped this morning's address but I couldn't hear the English version too well because EWTN or Rome TV had the Spanish translator on and I can understand Italian, French, Latin, and slowly understanding German; even though I am a German Roman Catholic and I think my family came from where you lived. I hope you and everyone at Vatican City research the information on my second letter I sent you; Oprah put her name on that phony book and now it's a best seller just because of her name on the book. Holy Father, we must take some kind of action to get those types of books and information off the shelves and away from people. Most of the information in that phony book doesn't even make sense or doesn't even make real sentences. I know one of the priests on EWTN; the catholic channel; did research and found out that book didn't make any sense and it's talking about a false Christ and a false Gospel. It's basically lying to the people and the groups who teach it make people sign papers and pay a certain amount to keep their mouth's shut so no one knows the truth about these people; A few people have already died from those meetings the people who made the book had; wasn't allowed to go the restroom to take heart medication or bathroom break; older people about your age and younger did this cult and have died and not just older men and women; but the young adults; younger than me and I'm 20 ; they have died also. If you forgot what the book is called, "A course on Miracles" do not be tricked about the title; it is very false and very dangerous. I think to have more Protestants come home to the Catholic Church; we need to remove this book I have told you the title of; remove the king James bibles off the shelf and replace them with actual bibles made by people in Rome; and have all Catholic Bibles sold and no phony bibles with unfinished readings and books. I know this may sound hard to do; but if we remove the false teachings of the King James Bible; more people will learn the truth and come home to the Catholic Church. I read your book the The Spirit of the Liturgy and loved it and reading it again and I'm also reading the book you wrote about Jesus. Both are great books and sometime soon I'm getting the book called; The Teaching of the Church Fathers. It's suppose to be 500 pages or so and a very big book. I tried asking you for guidance on how to become a Benedictine priest; but your email isn't working. Holy Father, we need a spiritual Maccabee revolt to get everyone back on the right side of faith. I can tell you this; many Catholics are becoming pagans and they don't even know it. I'm trying to help my dad with his case of worshiping adultery on the internet by teaching him of the church teachings; but nothing seems to get through to him. I know two of my classmates; one is my ex girl friend and she and her boy friend made a child but didn't do it after they were married; same with one of my best friends; he and his girl friend did the same thing. I don't know why it's so hard to follow the Ten Commandments; but there is another reason why too; their teachers who taught them CCD wasn't strict and didn't really care for teaching the kids; my CCD teachers in St. Paul's parish was taught by nuns that enforced discipline to the students and my teachers used what they learned from the nuns on us; we got the best letter from Bishop Paul Coakley on how well we looked, acted, and how well disciplined we were. The men had almost suites on and ladies had long dresses on for our Confirmation; we looked sharp and looked the same; men wore the same clothing and so did the ladies. When I see Protestants how they dress for their Church gatherings; it is so sad they don't want to show respect in how they dress; it talks about how to dress in the book of Sirach and I'm still reading that book in the Old Testament; I like how it tells us what to do and when to do a certain act. On Yahoo you can teach to all nations; but run into a bit of a problem called atheists and so called Christians; that don't even follow what a Christian does. If you talk philosophy from the Bible they do not understand or theology from the bible and still don't understand. I know it's our job to teach to all nations; but these cults and atheists and non believers and even Islam followers are tuff; rude, mean, and threaten my life once already on yahoo. I've taught the entire bible to everyone for over a year, now teaching the laws that God made and some are slowly learning and then I'm going teach of the sacraments. I've helped bring back 20 to 30 people to the Catholic Church who were non believers and bunch that left the Church and finally understood what everythi
ng meant after I started teaching them. I sometimes teach in German or Italian on yahoo to reach the different countries and I even brought an Italian home to the Church and many Germans. When I watch the catholic channel today; I learned something; if you are named after a saint; that is your patron saint. So my Patron saints would be St. Andrew the Apostle, St. Jerome, and St. James the just. Do you know any actual writings of St. Andrew I could find and read or maybe buy some day? I've been looking and found this one book called the Acts of Andrew; but I don't know if it's a false teaching or not; I printed 38 pages off the St. Andrew's orthodox church's webpage. Holy Father, I really wanted to say thank you for having you use part of my letter for last week's address and inform you on most of things that are happening in America and around here in Western Kansas; a big spot for German Roman Catholics. Thank you again.
Yours Truly,
Andrew Jerome James Baalman.
My first letter to the Pope was about the bill Freedom of choice Act. How we need to stop it from getting passed. If you want to look at that letter; it's on my questions also; so everyone can read it.
Have you ever seen a letter written by a Pope? there are no paragraphs. This letter has no spelling errors, no grammer errors, and no errors at all. It is perfect. I am not giving you the address to the vatican; because then you will send hurtful letters to the Pope and I will not let my new friend get hurt by mean people like you.
Very nice letter. Let us know when you hear anything back. I am very interested. Also what was your first letter to him about that they talked about on EWTN?
God Bless you...

Hello there.
I am currently a first-semester senior at a small magnet school in the South. Perhaps someone could give me some insight as to how competitive I am regarding scholarship money within the TN State school system (i.e. UTK, MTSU, TTU, etc.), as well as competitiveness for other, more prestigious schools (such as Vanderbilt, Harvard, etc.) Here are a few 'stats:'
ACT (30) (29)
English (35) (35)
Math (25) (26)
Reading (32) (26)

Alright, then...
What do you think?
I am certainly extremely confused about college right now - it basically has taken up the entire capacity of my brain for the past few months, and it likely will do the same until May 1, when at last a decision is made.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!
If you score higher on your SATs (around 2250+) you're pretty much set to go anywhere you want. Your GPA is near perfect and your extra curriculars are extremely strong. Good luck! You don't have to worry so much, haha.
Description: Fed with many misconceptions about Islam, Sophie finally decides to see for herself.
I was born into a lower middle-class English family; my mother was (and is) a housewife and my father worked at an electronics firm (he is now a lecturer in electronic engineering). My father came from a Catholic background, and my mother from a Protestant one. They had both shared a short spell in the Quaker church in the early 1970’s, but by the time I came along, they were strong atheists and religion was never mentioned in our house, let alone practiced. My parents had decided that if we wanted to be religious when we grew up, they would support this.
From a young age, I believed in God, despite not being brought up with this belief, but still I got the feeling that what they were teaching in the Christian school I went to was not right, somehow. I didn’t believe in Jesus or the Holy Spirit, it all seemed false, but at school they told us this was the only right way, all other religions were wrong, so I was VERY confused. When you’re a small child, you assume adults are always right with no exceptions: what they say, goes. Still, I could not let this go, so I probably, quite wisely, decided to keep my belief in only one God private. I felt guilty for believing something that was ‘wrong’. I felt ashamed and I hoped and prayed that I would stop being a heretic soon. When I was young, I was exposed very much to the fear of ‘Islamic Fundamentalism’, especially with the Salman Rushdie affair at the front of people’s minds, I was very frightened of the Muslims in general. There were two Muslim children at my primary school, but they kept their beliefs to themselves, except for the fact that the younger child Ali refused to pray in Assembly.
I had always prayed for God to show me the right way, I always turned to God for help. There was no doubt in my mind that God existed by the time I was 11 or 12 years old, and in high school I began to realize that perhaps my belief in one God wasn’t wrong. At this time, I had not really heard of Islam, all I ‘knew’ about it was that it was a violent religion that treated women like dirt. We were actually taught in SCHOOL that Islam was spread by the sword (in other words by violent and forceful means), that women in Islam were chattels symbolized by their dress, and that Muslims worshipped Mohammed (Salalah Alaihi Was Sallam). I was really disgusted, every time I saw a Muslim lady when shopping in Manchester (there are few Muslims in my area) I thought, ‘how can you do that to yourself?? I was really incensed. They did teach us one true thing though, that Muslims believe in only one God, which was something I honestly did not know before then.
I looked into all manner of other religions, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism, but they all appeared so man-made and contradictory. However one day, I don’t know what hit me, but I just felt I had to check whether what I had been taught was true or not. I was also curious because I had been told Muslims believed in one God, and I wanted to see if it were true or not. I saw a book called ‘Elements of Islam’ in the local library, and secretly I took it out. I turned straight to the section on Muslim women, and I was absolutely astounded by what I read. It was contrary to what I had been taught about Islam and women, and better than anything else I had ever heard of. I didn’t doubt what I read, I knew it was true, I knew deep in my heart that all of my prayers had been answered. Islam was the truth that I had been searching for all of my life! Still I felt bad for feeling this, the old guilt from my primary school days came creeping back; how could I believe in this ‘wrong’ religion? I tried to find evidence to ‘prove’ to me that Islam was not the truth, but it was impossible: all books that said negative things about Islam, I already knew they were lying. All books that said positive things about Islam, I knew they were telling the truth.
I decided I must be a Muslim, although I couldn’t come to terms with it, and I didn’t tell anyone. I read every book I could get my hands on, I got a translated copy of the Quran from the library but I couldn’t understand it, it was all in Middle English. This didn’t put me off - I knew it was only a translation, and what I did gather from it, I liked very much. I knew Islam was for life, that there was no turning back, so I really had to make sure. I ended up studying for two and a half years before chancing upon a chat room in January 1997 that was to change my life. It was the chatroom at [a Muslim website], and the people there were very helpful. The second time I went there I took Shahadah (declaration of faith that makes One a Muslim) in front of people from all over the world.

A beautiful story, It sounds very similar to my path into Islam. I was brought up as a strict Catholic. My mother was a strict Catholic (and I mean strict). I also questioned a lot of things when I was young and was never given a really good answer, other than to just believe and that's it. But somewhere in my mind it still didn't make sense, so I just had to let it go. I myself thought muslims were very strange. I mean why would you kiss the ground 5 times a day? and wear a scarf on your head. Those kind of backward thoughts that a lot of people have because they don't understand the significance behind it. Anyhow to make a very long, long story short. I have now been muslim for 15 years and my mother of all people (i could never had believed it) has been muslim now for about 12 years.

The America Needs Fatima Blog: Our Lady Help of Christians ...

The origins of devotion to Our Lady, under the invocation Help of Christians dates back to 1571.
In that crucial year, Christians and Turks met in the largest naval battle ever. The great Pope Saint Pius V had labored for years to get the Catholic League together and in fighting shape.
On October 7, 1571, 210 Catholic ships, mostly Spanish and Venetians, opposed 290 Turkish ships. The Catholics won a spectacular victory under the leadership of the Spanish Prince Juan of Austria.
The Catholic descriptions of the battle differ from the Turkish in one main point: Muslim sources say during the battle the Turks saw a marvelous and angry Lady. She looked at them and put them to flight with her fierce gaze.
...The Catholic Key Blog: Archbishop Gomez - #39;Immigration is the ...
Back in October, ‘08, Archbishop Jose Gomez was the keynote speaker at the Missouri Catholic Conference Annual Assembly. In his speech from the podium of the State House of Representatives in Jefferson City, Archbishop Gomez traced the history of the Christian imperative to welcome the stranger and reviewed its implication for today. At the time, I only posted excerpts from his speech since I deemed it too long for a blog post. Given his newfound prominence and the interest in his views on immigration, I’m posting the whole thing. It is the best presentation I’ve seen on the topic:
My brother bishops, my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus:
Greetings, my brothers and sisters! It’s so very good to be with you today! Thank you for your very warm welcome. I’m honored by your invitation to speak with you today about immigration.
