the liturgy of the catholic church and others in full agreement can vary owing to the different cultures, that includes the maronite.
what cannot change is the liturgy of the eucharist, where no matter what church is celebrating mass , they cannot make up their own version

For the early centuries, the church ruled most of Europe in terms of influencing art and literature and all art had to be in the service of worshipping God and elevating the church or depicting stories of the Bible. Every line of thought led back to the exaltation and glory of God. Magnificent cathedrals were built each more ornate than the last, education and philosophy gave scriptural instruction or the Pope's decrees to the students and were meant to further emphasize the omnipotence of the Lord. This was much less pronounced after the advent of protestantism in the 16th century. Italy however was still very much under the pope's control concerning art but gradually mythology and then portraiture began and restrictions eased..
