Is it biblical? Traditional? Pro's/Con's?
One cannot deny that the foundation of all Christianity through His Church is based on Christ’s words to St. Peter before the disciples. There is no doubt from the construction vernacular that Jesus was instructing them to build a Church with them as the foundation stones and Himself as the cornerstone. He built no other Church as no other was needed because the One, Holy, Apostolic, Catholic, Church derives its perfection from Him through His promises. He prayed that we all be one within this Church. He said this Church would endure until the Parousia. He said of this Church that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. He said that He would be with this Church until the end of time. The Scriptures confirms these promises saying that this Church is the “pillar and ground of the truth”. He did not plan for the Church to be without leadership after the apostles died but provided that they choose successors to replace them in the enduring Church. This is confirmed it the book of Acts.
One can suggest that this Church is not the Church that Christ gave these promises and authority to but who else can support a claim that they are the true church represented by these promises if not the Catholic church. Some will suggest that the true church is the Gnostics or the Arians? Certainly remnants of those churches remain in modern incarnations of these heresies but can one claim the enduring characteristic promised by Christ? There is certainly no evidence that anyone can make a legitimate claim to Christ’s promises other than the Catholic Church. Some critics may claim that the reason that the Catholic Church has endured is because of political connections, but the truth is that it has endured because of the miracles of our Lord who persuaded a Pagan emperor to stop his persecution of the Church and not by some agreement of men. It is hard to persuade someone who is intent on your annihilation. Only God could convict the heart of the Pagan Emperor Constantine.
I would agree that there have always been those believers known to God who will be saved and I agree but I do not agree that those people are outside of His Church nor do I believe that it is possible for salvation without His Church but that it is possible only through his Church, Although I acknowledge, as does the Church, that this union may be imperfect, as with our separated brethren with different degrees of the fullness of truth which is perfected in His Church. All believers are taught by God through His Church. This is from my blog and gives the Scriptural support for the structure of the Church:

This is just a [very] quick rundown of the institution of the catholic church.
I'm not sure how to phrase this question.
I know that there are bishops, cardinals, deacons, and the Pope -- but I'm wondering what the hierarchy is within the church. The... "pecking order," for lack of a better word.
The Church's highest earthly authority in matters of faith, morality and Church governance is the Pope, currently Pope Benedict XVI, who holds supreme authority in the Church in concert with the College of Bishops, of which he is the head. Collectively, these bishops make up the Holy See in Vatican City in Rome.
Let's start from the bottom. One or more priests with the help of deacons (generally religious in training to be priests) hold services at the local parrish churches. Each parrish church belongs to a diocese. In 2008 there were 2,795 Catholic dioceses worldwide headed by a bishop. These dioceses then are group into an archdiocese with a cardinal or archbishop heading the archdiocese.
Said another way, the local priest reports to a bishop, who reports to an archbishop or cardinal, who reports to the Pope.
Godspeed.

Revelation 11:2 and Daniel 7:25 tell us this time factor was to tread upon the saints of God.
The Roman Catholic church hierarchy, and specifically the popes, did exactly this.
If we take a look at the 1st Beast and the 2nd Beast of Revelation 13. The 2nd Beast comes up out of the earth.
Many try to associate this Beast with the USA. Some people assume the two-horned beast must be a buffalo and the earth is an area of little or no population when it arose. As we will see from studying Scripture and history, this is just not so.
The "earth" in Revelation 13 is referring to the Latin or the Roman earth. It is the 10-toed confederate of nations depicted in the vision of Daniel 2. This earth of prophecy began when the two iron legs of Roman Imperialism ceased to exist.
The pagan Roman Empire ceased to exist, but the Empire was revived miraculously under the political power of the papacy. Thus the deadly wound to Rome was healed.

(Here's proof; hurry before this question gets deleted.)
Is it possible the Roman Catholic Church is the anti-Christ?
Cristoiglesia - Jesus NEVER "founded" the Roman Catholic Church. Neither did Peter. To say that is a LIE and pure BLASPHEMY.
Cristoiglesia - Since you are changing your answers over and over again, why not post a link to Bible scripture verses where it shows Jesus telling Peter to begin the so-called, "Catholic Church".
You cannot because there are none.

Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, The Father, the Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father; through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven, by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died and was buried.
On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have...
no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, with the Father and the Son He is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
Revelation 22:18-19
Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
John 14:6
Praise Jesus for dying for our sins! We know the truth! He died for our us! He IS the truth!
Praise Him! Glory to Jesus! Amen!
Akasha - Fully agree!
Cristoilesia - "I do not know you or the authority you profess to have. I do know the authority of Jesus and it is He who I believe and the Church that He founded."
I, per say, DO NOT have the authority. The WORD OF GOD is the authority!
Why would the Word of God say in Revelations 22:18&19 to not add to or your will have plagues added to you or take from the Word of God or you will have your name taken out of the Book of Life.
Yet you sit their blindly following a church that does this very thing; MANY TIMES. They've written their own doctrine for goodness sake!!!!
Catholic priests denying Jesus Christ AND saying it's okay to not to be a non-believer. (This is BLASPHEMY in the Bible. THE most imporant and 1st commandment; "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Exodus 20:3 )

Clue: Its set into a ring.
The Pope's ring would traditionally have an amethyst.
Ordinary bishops have a ring, not with a gemstone but with the bishop's coat of arms on it. The ring, like a wedding band, symbolizes that the bishop is "wedded" to his diocese. Also, the ring would be used to make the imprint of the bishop's seal in the hot wax to authenticate documents.
Cardinals also wear rings. The ring belonging a cardinal is given to him by the pope himself It is normally of small value and is set with a sapphire.

Four bureaucracies « Panther Red
Got me thinking about four major bureaucracies in particular: the regime of Nazi Germany; the state of Israel; the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church; and the criminal justice system in the USA.
One of the writers whose works have done the most to inform my interest in bureaucracy was Raul Hilberg, the historian of the Holocaust. An essay about Hilberg in the current issue of : “The destruction of the Jews was an administrative process, and the annihilation of Jewry required the implementation of systematic administrative measures in successive steps.” Hilberg’s masterwork lays out the operation of this process according to the drastically simplified rationality that makes an impersonal bureaucracy so powerful a form of organization.
The essayist comments on the chapter of is sometimes described as anti-Israel; I don’t think that’s a fair characterization, but certainly the word “Zionist” does not often appear there as a term of praise. The magazine is largely written by left-wing Jews from New York, and its coverage of Israel/Palestine is mostly based on reports from left-wing Jews in Tel Aviv. So its views tend to reflect the Meretz/Peace Now line, and to dismiss arguments as to whether it was a good idea to found Israel as distractions from the peace process. Someone of Hilberg’s orientation would almost have to be a Zionist, though. If the only force that can resist a modern bureaucratic state is another modern bureaucratic state, then we not only have to condemn the of the 1930s and 1940s as worse than useless to the Jews targeted by the Third Reich’s policy of extermination, but we must also say that the only thing that could have helped them was a modern bureaucratic state with their interests at heart.
...abyss2hope: Assumptions About Sex Crimes By Catholic Priests
Bishop Victor Balke of the Diocese of Crookston tried three times to alert superiors about a visiting priest accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in 2005. The Rev. Joseph Jeyapaul, a native of India who served in the diocese in 2004 and 2005, returned to India before criminal charges were filed. Roseau County authorities are seeking to have him returned to Minnesota to face rape charges.
