If St. Bernadette's beliefs were in conflict with the Catholic Church, she would not have been canonized. I seem to recall that she had some conflict with the local bishop when she first saw the apparitions. It was only after Mary told Bernadette that she was the Immaculate Conception and Benadette repeated this to the bishop without understanding what the words meant that the bishop believed her. (The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception had just been clarified and most Catholics still had not heard of it.)
I can't think of any conflict that would even be possible between Bernadette and any government, as she was kept at home as a child due to poor health and then went into a convent shortly afterwards, where she had little contact with the outside world.

I used to be a Catholic. I am from an Irish immigrant family. I had years of daily Mass and religious instructions. I saw this movie as a kid and just stumbled across it on netflix.
Of note: They have the saints " incorruptible," body on view in a crystal coffin. The whole thing is very macabre. The body is masked in wax to cover up the supposed incorruptibility.
Catholics are not required to believe in these apparitions.
I don't think the church stages these things, but then again I am Catholic. There are some explanations as to why some of the incorruptibles are the way they are, but not enough to prove that they were forged. There are simply too many, and the possible causes for all of them to be preserved naturally (whether through lack of oxygen or otherwise explicable circumstance) just don't add up.
The Catholic church does not recognize bodies that have been preserved or embalmed, as that would obviously be dishonest. Not all of them have wax masks, but Bernadette's is because of discoloration due to washing her body. And of course this is freely admitted. It's not as though people are not being told of the wax.
Yeah, Catholics don't have to believe in apparitions and other things deemed private revelation. It is possible to be a Catholic and not believe in Lourdes, or Fátima, or any such apparition. But if they were put on by church as a scam, it would make more sense to declare that they must be believed in, rather than give Catholics the choice.
Then tell me how saint bernadette lying in her class coffin, dead over 100 years, has not decayed. After saint Berndettes death, her coffin was exhumed and her body was found to be in a state of perfection, no decay, no corrosion.
Her body has been place in a glass coffin for every to see, even to this day.
Are you saying the the catholic church has put a plastic dummy in a glass coffin in Lourdes and fooled the world???????
If the devil was behind this, why would the devil ask saint bernadette to erect a church in lourdes for the conversion of sinners?
Why would the devil ask bernadette to eat grass for the sake the sinners and drink dirty water for the sake of sinners?
If you look at the appartion if Fatima, the virgin mary revealed 3 secrets which are referring to events such as world war 1 and 2, and other future events. She told them to tell the world to pray the rosary every day for peace and the conversion of the world.
Why would the bloody devil say all these things. He is the devil!
Do you not get it. Why would he want a church to be built in lourdes if he is the devil.
Correct me if im wrong but Jesus is the devils number one enemy.
and why would satan warn people to amend their ways, and if they dont bad things will happen such as world war one and two.
So for all the atheists out there who think they know it all, id like to see how you manage to explain this one.
I know they have been approved by the church. This question is referring to people who are trying to see that these "approved" apparitions are the work of satan.
Some people are so pathetic; she might have a wax covering but she is not 100% made of wax.
Mikey: F**K off.
Fatima was witnessed by people outside of the country. In fact people from others countres saw it too and completely dismissed it.
It wasnt even reported in others countires but many people in Fatima witnessed it, even hardened atheists, newspaper reporters, jounalists, media crews etc who all testified to seeing the same thing.
How much more evidence do you need.
70,0000 not 70!!!!!!!!
How is the rosary idol worship. When are thick people going to get it. We hinour her, not worship her and she has direct contact with Jesus.
They have been approved by the Church. Others are still in question.
I saw a question that someone asked earlier about confirmation names w/in the Catholic church, and while I'm not Catholic myself, I find the names and the stories of the Catholic saints to be very interesting. I've paired up a handful of female saints, and I'll let ya'all pick which ones you prefer from each set. I'll make one for male saints here shortly. Have fun :-)

I love saint names! I'm not Catholic either. I consider myself to be a weird sort of Protestant; my theological beliefs are a weird mix of Lutheran, Presbyterian, Quaker/Society of Friends, and American Baptist doctrine, but I attend a Presbyterian church. Go figure that one out. :P Still, I love reading about saints, and if a name I love is a saint's name, it's always an added bonus.
I put a * next to the names I'd use.

before everyone gets grossed out....
there have been several Saints of the Catholic Church that even after 100 years..their deceased bodies have NOT decayed.
St Bernadette Soubirous, St Germaine, and ST Padre Pio.
ST Catherine Laboure,
So how do athiests explain this...because after all, "Science"
would determine that their deceased bodies would begin to rot
and decay ........................
Newflash :
LENIN's body was ARTIFICIALLY and
purposefully preserved.
The afore mentioned saints were discovered about 100 years AFTER
they were BURIED.

I've found lizards around my house that have been mummified by the dry air from the air conditioner. I feel bad for them so when I see a lizard or insect come inside the house I try to catch it and put it outside. If a corpse is in dry conditions, it may become dessicated as water evaporates, instead of rotting.
Also, some bodies, like those of Ramses II, or Lenin, do not decay because they are treated with chemicals. I don't like the idea of getting embalmed when I die, but I guess some people don't like the idea of rotting.
There is even a process of self-mummification that a few Buddhist monks have committed to. You can read about that strange practice here:

Those saints that you named may have been embalmed, or kept in a dry environment where bugs and bacteria can't get them. There's also the possibility, at least when photos aren't available, of people saying a body is "perfectly preserved" when really just surprisingly well preserved for it's age. Like it's expected to be skeletonized, but it still skin and hair on it.
Here is an article with a photo of a very well preserved saint:

I'm glad you put "science" in quotes because I don't think any scientist would say that all bodies rot and decay. When one doesn't rot, they might want to look for answers. But religious relics, like the bodies of saints, are often off limits to scientific study.

Apr. 16 Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Easter; St. Bernadette ...
The feast of St. Bernadette is celebrated today. Bernadette, the oldest of six children, was born in Lourdes, France, in 1844. At the age of 14, between 11 February 1858 and 16 July 1858, Bernadette had 18 visions of the Immaculate Conception in a local grotto near the bank of the River Gave, near Lourdes. During the visions, Mary requested prayer and penitence, asked for the construction of a new church, and led Bernadette to a fresh water spring believed to have miraculous healing powers. Despite strong doubt and even opposition from political and church officials, Bernadette’s faith in what she had witnessed remained steadfast and humble. Saint Bernadette longed to become a Carmelite nun, but ill health prevented her from doing so. In 1866, she retreated from the public eye to the...
St. Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes | CatInfor.com
Mother Mary first appeared to the 14-year-old Bernadette Feb. 11, 1858, in a cave on the banks of the Gave River near Lourdes. The visions continued for several weeks. Two weeks later, a spring emerged from the cave and the waters were found to miraculously heal the sick and the lame. One month later, March 25, the vision told Bernadette that she was the Immaculate Conception and that a church should be built on the site.
