I know this is crazy but I have to ask! I asked a question about the roman catholic church and "David" gave this answer:
Don't believe anyone who said that "catholics are Christians". That is untrue.
The TRUTH is that catholicism is not Christian. Catholicism leads to eternal torment in hell, because catholicism teaches works for salvation, and that is a false gospel of works (Galatians 1:6-9).
It's clear from the Book of Acts in the Bible that catholics didn't even exist during the days of Acts. Those in the Book of Acts are the first Christians, and they believed what would be called fundamentalist doctrine today. ANYONE can read the Book of Acts for themselves and see. Had catholicism existed during the time of Acts, the first Christians would have rejected catholicism completely.
Also here's Christians that called the "pope" the antichrist, and who also completely rejected catholicism, long before Martin Luther was even born:
There is no "pope" in the Bible. Every "pope" is a false prophet. So not only is it wrong for anyone to say that "catholics were the first Christians", but this list blows away the catholic claim that "no churches existed other than the catholic church, until Martin Luther".
There were ALWAYS saved believers outside the catholic cult, who knew catholicism cannot save anyone.
Catholicism cannot save. Only believing in Jesus alone for salvation, is what saves.
The truth is that Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much! :D The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you will be in heaven, no matter what! Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus alone to save you! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation (John 6:39-40, 1 John 5:13).
Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)

THEN SOMEONE ELSE ASKED A SIMILAR QUESTION and a David with the same avatar gave this completely opposite yet unbelievably similar response:
Catholicism is The only true Christian Faith. Catholicism leads to eternal happiness in heaven, since Catholicism teaches a full gospel, because Catholicism teaches We are saved by Christ's grace alone, through faith and works done in charity inspired by the Holy Spirit for salvation, and that is a true gospel of works (Galatians 1:6-9). For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God--not because of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:8-10)
It's clear from the Book of Acts in the Bible that Catholics existed during the days of Acts. And Is where the word Christian was invented.
Evodius was the first Bishop of Antioch a Catholic, and he is credited with being the first person to call the followers of Christ, "Christians", as shown in Acts 11:26. See Eusebius, book 3, chapter 22.http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/05653a.h …
Saint Ignatius (35-107), the second Bishop of Antioch wrote a letter to the Smyrneans in 107 A.D..
In this letter is recorded the first known use of the words "Catholic Church"...
Catholicism existed for Centuries before any Protestant sect was formed .Centuries after Jesus formed the First church the catholic church.. Those in the Book of Acts are the first Christians, and they believed what would be called Catholic doctrine today. ANYONE can read the Book of Acts for themselves and see. Had Protestantism existed during the time of Acts, the first Christians would have rejected It completely Because the Bible was not yet formed neither the doctrines of OSAS , Faith alone, and Sola scriptura. .
Also there's Heretic Christians who also completely rejected Catholicism, long before Martin Luther was even born. At the Council Of Nicea they were rejected and were called Arians. Which is why we have the belief In the Trinity they rejected the heretics.
And there is no "pope" in the Bible Because they were called Bishops Which is what they are still called. Every "pope" is a Vicar Of Christ.
There were ALWAYS saved believers outside the catholic , who did not know The full truth of Catholicism but that was by the grace of the savior they would have been catholic if given the time.
Catholicism saves. By Only believing in Jesus alone for salvation, That is what the Catholic church teaches.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

SORRY THIS IS SO UNBELIEVABLY LONG BUT I HAD TO POST BOTH ANSWERS. GOD BLESS
I'm sorry Joseph but you had it right the first time when you were a protestant minister. Obviously you weren't saved if you could abandon sound doctrine for roman paganism. Now you engage in idolatry (i.e. praying to mary, and praying to saints). How did you ever fall so far?

My great great grandfather, and a number of his siblings, were baptised in this church. His name was David Lynch, baptised 08 May 1823.
Are there records available and does anyone know how to access them ?
What would those records contain?
Also I wonder if this is the church that his parents married in? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Yorkshire is the largest county in England and you will see that it is covered by several Record Offices. Leeds is covered by the West Yorkshire Archive Service:- http://www.archives.wyjs.org.uk/
It appears that they hold records for St Patricks RC, but only baptisms 1873 - 1907 and marriages 1831 -1906.
The website says that enquiries regarding other records of Roman Catholic churches (including closed churches), should be directed to:

I wasn't Catholic (I was barely a Christian) when my two children were born. Now that I've found my home with the Catholic Church, I want my children to have the full experience of growing up Catholic. Both of them have middle names that happen to be the names of saints (Charles and David). Even though I didn't intend this when I named them, is it okay for me to explain name days to them and celebrate the feast days of the saints who's names they share with them? Or, should I wait until they choose their Confirmation names at a later date?
I know not everybody agress with this, but I do and so do many Catholics around the world. While I respect everybody's opinion, I am only concerned at this moment with the opinions of those who understand why this question would be important to me as a Catholic. Please do not answer in a rude way.
I see no reason why not sounds like a good idea! there are 9 saint Charles and 6 saint Davids here's the link I'll leave it for you!http://www.catholic.org/saints/

FAITH IN FOCUS: BREAKFAST BY THE LAKE
When someone says the word “eucharist” what springs to mind? Do you think of a thing, perhaps the bread and wine? Or do you think of an action, perhaps the Mass?
Oddly enough, if you go to Greece you’ll hear the word “eucharist”, though pronounced in a slightly different way, every few minutes. That’s because it’s the Greek word for “thank you”. So the eucharist is really the action of giving thanks to God for creation and redemption. It’s an action first and foremost, and then a thing secondarily since we reserve the Eucharistic species of bread and wine for use with the sick and sometimes for adoration.
If you take a look at the appearances of Jesus after his resurrection, you’re bound to notice that food plays a great part in them. From the first appearance on Easter Sunday evening with the disciples on their way to Emmaus where he breaks bread, to the final appearance in today’s gospel where they have a fish breakfast on the lake shore, being with Jesus is associated with eating and drinking. Could the gospel writers be trying to give us a clue?
