I keep hearing that the Catholic church is not Christian- FALSE.
The History of the Catholic Church from apostolic times covers a period of nearly 2,000 years, making it the world's oldest and largest institution. It dates its beginning to the confession of Peter(Matt.16:18), and the establishment of the Church by Jesus Christ.
Catholic doctrine states that Christ is the head of his Mystical Body, the Catholic Church. The history of the Roman Catholic Church is integral to the History of Christianity and the history of Western civilization.
Protestants love to say that we worship Mary- FALSE. We only honor her as the woman who gave birth to the living God.
Hail Mary:
Since the Hail Mary is a prayer to Mary, many Protestants assume it’s unbiblical. Quite the contrary, actually. Let’s look at it.
The prayer begins, “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.” This is nothing other than the greeting the angel Gabriel gave Mary in Luke 1:28. The next part reads this way:
“Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.” This was exactly what Mary’s cousin Elizabeth said to her in Luke 1:42. The only thing that has been added to these two verses are the names “Jesus” and “Mary,” to make clear who is being referred to. So the first part of the Hail Mary is entirely biblical.
The second part of the Hail Mary is not taken straight from Scripture, but it is entirely biblical in the thoughts it expresses. It reads:
“Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”
Let’s look at the first words. Some Protestants do object to saying “Holy Mary” because they claim Mary was a sinner like the rest of us. But Mary was a Christian (the first Christian, actually, the first to accept Jesus; cf. Luke 1:45), and the Bible describes Christians in general as holy. In fact, they are called saints, which means “holy ones” (Eph. 1:1, Phil. 1:1, Col. 1:2). Furthermore, as the mother of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, Mary was certainly a very holy woman.
Some Protestants object to the title “Mother of God,” but suffice it to say that the title doesn’t mean Mary is older than God; it means the person who was born of her was a divine person, not a human person. (Jesus is one person, the divine, but has two natures, the divine and the human; it is incorrect to say he is a human person.) The denial that Mary had God in her womb is a heresy known as Nestorianism (which claims that Jesus was two persons, one divine and one human), which has been condemned since the early 400s and which the Reformers and Protestant Bible scholars have always rejected.
The most problematic line for non-Catholics is usually the last: “pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.” Many non-Catholics think such a request denies the teaching of 1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” But in the preceding four verses (1 Tim. 2:1-4), Paul instructs Christians to pray for each other, meaning it cannot interfere with Christ’s mediatorship: “I urge that prayers, supplications, petitions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone. . . . This is good, and pleasing to God our Savior.”
We know this exhortation to pray for others applies to the saints in heaven who, as Revelation 5:8 reveals, intercede for us by offering our prayers to God: “The twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
So why do you insist on saying that Catholics are not Christian? I was raised Catholic, and I am Christian!
@Sam- did you even READ the post? If you had, you'd see that I had addressed what you call "worship" of Mary.
Also, learn to spell, please. I can hardly read your message.
I love the defense of the true Church. They will never understand. Satan, of course, is the cause of all lies and confusion. Hail Mary is Bibical as you said. The book of Acts presents a VERY strong case for Catholicism. It is when these individuals believe that they can interpret the Bible that we have problems. The church has over 2000 years of study, knowledge and the Holy Spirit to guide her in the understanding of scripture, and these protestants have a hatred of the Catholic Church to guide them. Hmmmmm...Pray for them.
Come on! Don#39;t you want to be a part of the kingdom? - Videozinho dos amigos carismaticos de St. Timoty Church. Deus abencoe!
Can you answer these claims that your doctrine and practices are not Biblical, using your Bible! We don't need any smart remarks.. I just want to know if you can defend your doctrine with the Bible, or are you just adhering to Catholic doctrine and practices due to traditions.. and you have never really analyzed it. I am going to use the "New American Standard" Bible, because from what i understand, that bible is that the Catholic church uses. You can use whatever Bible you like though.~
1. Calling the Priests "Father". Bible says: Matthew 23:9
"Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven."
2. Using repetitive words using Rosary beads, and in other prayers. Bible says: Matthew 6:7 "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words."
3. The Pope says that only very special dead Catholic people can be called "Saints". Bible refers to all Christians as Saints. 1 Corinthians 1:2 "To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours"
Also Romans 1:7 "to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. " ALSO see Ephesians 1:1, and Philippians 1:1.
4. The Parish leader is the only one who is called "Priest" when in fact all Christians are priests according the bible.
Bible says: 1 Peter 2:5 "you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ" ALSO 1 Peter 2:9 "But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; " ALSO Revelation 1:6 "and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father--to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen." ALSO Revelation 5:10 "You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth."
5. Bishops (Overseers of the Church) are not allowed to marry. The Bible states the Contrary: 1 Timothy 3:2-5 "An overseer (Bishop in other translations), then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money.
He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity
but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?" BTW: Celibacy was first enforced upon Priests in 1070 A.D. ALSO Peter who is supposedly the first "Pope" was married himself: Mark 1:30 "Now Simon's mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her."
6. Catholic's praying to dead "Saints": The issue of Catholics praying to saints is one that is full of confusion. It is the official position of the Roman Catholic Church that Catholics do not pray TO saints or Mary, but rather that Catholics can ask saints or Mary to pray FOR them. The official position of the Roman Catholic Church is that asking saints for their prayers is no different than asking someone here on earth to pray for you. However, the practice of many Catholics diverges from official Roman Catholic teaching. Many Catholics DO in fact pray directly to saints and/or Mary, asking them for help – instead of asking the saints and/or Mary to intercede with God for help. Whatever the case, whether a saint or Mary is being prayed to, or asked to pray, neither practice has any Biblical basis.
The Bible nowhere instructs believers in Christ to pray to anyone other than God. The Bible nowhere encourages, or even mentions, believers asking individuals in Heaven for their prayers. Why, then, do many Catholic pray to Mary and/or the saints, or request their prayers? Catholics view Mary and saints as "intercessors" before God. They believe that a saint, who is glorified in Heaven, has more "direct access" to God than we do. Therefore, if a saint delivers a prayer to God, it is more effective than us praying to God directly. This concept is blatantly unbiblical. Hebrews 4:16 tells us that we, believers here on earth, can "...approach the throne of grace with confidence..."
1 Timothy 2:5 declares, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." There is no one else that can mediate with God for us. If Jesus is the ONLY mediator, that indicates Mary and saints cannot be mediators. They cannot mediate our prayer requests to God. Further, the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ Himself is interceding for us before the Father, "Therefore He is able to sa
SpiritRo.. You have NO idea what you are talking about. This is what the Bibles says, and THIS is what be believe: Romans 10:8-18 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
And Romans 10:14 "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
Maryasia, you didn't use ANY scripture to back up your views.
Let me also add, i am seriously trying to find some common ground because this division thing is not good for the body of Christ. It just seems to me (Being raised Catholic through high school) nothing lines up with the bible, which is the word of God, of which doctrine should be based.
mama: It is not hypocritical to want to be grounded in TRUTH in your beliefs, and not follow blindly like a sheep.
Sparky : Thank you, you are making some sense.. this is what i want. I am the type of person who wants to make logical choices in my beliefs. The reason i posted this is because i am trying to find common ground with Catholics, and understand their views. I believe all denominations are part of the body of Christ, and there are NONE that are perfect. I was raised Catholic, did not enjoy it. Came back to Christ later in life. My mother who was raised Catholic fell away from Christianity for about 10 years.. and i have been praying for her and she suddenly decided she wants to go to a Catholic church, which is God working on her heart.. and i want to go with her. I have bitterness in me due to my past and what i view as "flaws" in the Catholic church. Having some rational answers to my questions, will help me to not feel like a hypocrite when i go with her to the Catholic church tomorrow.
Wolf: Actually i don't hate anyone. I just get annoyed with blind followers, and I DON"T want to be one. Thank you for your answers that make sense.. the Father thing though, the scripture you refer is about praying to God, which Jesus said to do. I want to understand the Catholic faith, and i am NOT just saying that. There is a lot of misinformation on both sides. I want to hear the answer to these questions from Catholics. As i said, i am going to a Catholic church tomorrow with my mom. Haven't been to one since high school, and if i can, i want to be able to enjoy it. It's unfortunate that there is so much confusion with beliefs on both sides.
Thank you LH Catholic i WILL look those things up. AND goodness people i SERIOUSLY am looking for truth. I am taking these things into consideration. After doing a thorough investigation on both sides... i have a feeling i will find that... there are no perfect denominations..
Wolf, thanks for the second edit ;). I appreciate it, and i apologize for coming off harsh. I wanted to bring the questions up that i have heard, and hear Catholic responses. Because as i said it is confusing. I DO consider us all part of the body of Christ, and i believe we all have good intentions, and a zeal for God, which is the most important thing. It will all be resolved when Christ returns. I know that God is calling my mom back to him spiritually. I have praying for her for 4 years, since i came back to Christ. She was into different "spiritual" beliefs, but wanted nothing to do with Christ from what i could tell. I believe that her now wanting to start attending the Catholic church is God's answer to my prayer. At first, i tried to convince her to come to my church, but i believe God has been putting it in my heart that it is his will for her to go to the Catholic church, after all, she went to a Catholic school growing up. I believe i should go with her for support
SpiritRo, i really don't know who you heard say that when you come to Jesus your life will be Roses. Jesus said i didn't come to bring peace but a sword, Father against son, daughter against mother. And i experienced both of those, and loss of Friends. You do experience more joy even in the midst of these things though. SO i agree with you there... not sure who you heard say that.
Misty: Thanks for the good points to consider.
I realize from the beginning that you are going to whine, distort, and deny any answers given to you by a Catholic -- that's what bigots do, after all. But here goes:
1) According to your logic, both St. Paul and St. John are in violation of Jesus' words:
1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
1John 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning.
So either Jesus was referring to those who wanted to be seen as spiritual leaders and be called father without valid reason, or else those two Bible passages are wrong and should be removed. Your call.
2) Operative word: vain. Again, if your logic is correct, we need to remove this entire passage:
Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (etc.)
When we pray the Rosary, we are meditating on the life of Christ. There is nothing "vain" about praying in that manner. Of course, I'm sure you see nothing wrong with repeating the "Our Father" because it's you and not a Catholic praying it.
3) Nope, that's not what the Pope says or the Church teaches. As per the passage you quote, all believers are saints. Some people live lives of exceptional holiness, love for God, and care for His people, and they are examples for the rest of us saints to follow. Their sanctity is recognized by the Church, and they are the capital letter 'Saints.'
4) God has no problem with priests, so why do you?
Hebrews 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him.
You have pastors who, by your own words, are priests. In fact, you could call your minister a priest and be techically correct.
What your pastors do NOT have is the spiritual authority given to St. Peter by Christ and passed down to his successors, the Popes and priests. Your ministers were not empowered to consecrate the Holy Eucharist or to forgive and retain sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Penance.
That's the difference between a Catholic priest and a "priest" of any other denomination -- spiritual authority given by Christ to a specific group of men.
5) Priests have the same right to marry as any of the rest of us. They have to choose between marriage and a celibate priesthood, that's all. But they aren't forbidden to marry.
On the same subject, St. Paul expresses his own opinion:
1 Corinthians 7:7-8 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
Seems he didn't have any problem with celibacy. . .so what's yours?
6) Oh, so you're once again rewriting Scripture to suit yourself, I see. Jesus said that all are alive to God.
Luke 20:38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
If believers are alive in Heaven, then I can ask them to pray for me, just as you ask a friend at church or a family member to pray for you. If you've ever done that, then you're as "guilty" as any Catholic you're accusing.
And about this mediator thing: it's not our fault that you don't understand the difference between mediation and intercession. A mediator is one who settles a dispute between two parties at enmity with each other: in this case, man and God.
Jesus is the only Mediator, that's true, because He is the only One Who can meet God's criteria to settle the dispute between sinful man and holy God. His sacrifice on the Cross meets God's criteria to wash away our sins.
However, Jesus is NOT our only Intercessor. An intercessor is one who speaks on behalf of another person to a figure of authority. We are all called upon to intercede for each other:
1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
Etc.
Once again, either the Bible is lying or you are. Take your pick.
So there are your Scriptural answers to all of your protests, complaints, and general silliness. If you had genuinely wanted answers, you could have done a site search and seen the hundreds of repetitions of your questions. . .and the answers given by Catholics who know what they believe and why.
And yes, a lot of us are tired of alleged ex-Catholics coming here and demonstrating by their hatred and prejudice that they were Catholic in name only. If you went through Confirmation classes, you should already know the answers to all of your questions. You may not agree with them, and that's your privilege.
But to come here and demand that we respond exactly the way you think we ought to is about as snide and self-righteous as it gets. Try showing a little respect for your Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ, and you'd be suprised how reasonable and respectful we can be, in return.
One more thing. Please don't try to hide behind the "Oh, I'm just trying to find common ground because this division thing is not good for the Body of Christ" hypocrisy. The only person you're fooling with that crock of "Oh, I'm not prejudiced, I just looooove everyone (except you Catholics)" cr@pola is yourself.
The rest of us see you for exactly what you are -- a hater of the brethren, a hypocrite, and a bigot.
Edit:
Incidentally, "Sola Scriptura" is an unscriptural doctrine. Sacred Tradition and the teachings of the scholars of the Church existed long before the Bible was codified (by Catholics, I might add.) There are many documents extant that prove the Church had beliefs and practices passed down from the earliest days -- long before the Bible came into being. Sola Scriptura was a doctrine Luther proposed to support his own heretical beliefs and practices.
The Bible is not the be-all, end-all of God's instructions and intentions for His Church. Anyone who subscribes to Sola Scriptura is as guilty of heresy as Luther.
Edit#2
I see the real you in that last comment, and I can respect that. If you had come to us with that attitude first, most of us who have done anything to help you find the answers you need and not lashed out at you.
I will also apologize for my anger and bitterness. Keep in mind that most of us who deal with the Catholic haters on this Forum are pretty raw by now. We love our Protestant brothers and sisters in Christ, and it hurts to be treated as if we are somehow second-class citizens in the Kingdom of God. . .or worse still, not citizens of Heaven at all.
I hope you can find peace and joy in the Presence of Christ when you go to Mass with your Mom. Trust me -- He *will* be there for you and all those who love Him.

In the Catholic Church people pray to saints and virgins, the Bible says this is wrong. I'm not unsure I just want to know the Catholic's point of view. Why would you have Saints to pray to when you can pray directly to God Himself?
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,"
**My mistake. I didn't mean to say "pray to". I know you ask them to intercede for you. However, as harsh as it may sound, they are dead. How can you ask someone who is dead to pray for you? Why? Why oh why would you ask someone to pray for you when you can do it for yourself? That's my biggest confusion.
** And yes, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the same thing.
First of all it is disingenuous to state that the practice of praying for each other has no biblical foundation, we are instructed in Scripture to have a prayer life for others as it is part of God’s commandment to love one another.
(2Co 5:8 DRB) But we are confident and have a good will to be absent rather from the body and to be present with the Lord.
The Catholic Church does not teach that it is absolutely necessary for one to ask for the intercession of saints for salvation. The Church does teach that prayer to God is necessary for salvation for all believers. For a Catholic it would be wrong to ignore the liturgical worship offered to God at feast days for the saints and the prayers asking for their intercession.
The Communion of Saints is a dogma of the ancient Church and is recorded in the apostles Creed. It simply states that the faithful because of their relationship with Christ are alive even after the death of their flesh and worship with us. To us the Church is made up of the Church militant who represents all those believers living out their hope in the flesh.
(Phi 2:12 DRB) Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but much more now in my absence) with fear and trembling work out your salvation.
(Phi 2:13 DRB) For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to accomplish, according to his good will.
It consists of the Church Suffering who are those who are temporarily in need of further purgation from sin so that they may enjoy the presence of God.
(2Ma 12:46 DRB) It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.
Lastly, the Communion of the Saints consists of those who have won the race:
(Phi 3:14 DRB) I press towards the mark, to the prize of the supernal vocation of God in Christ Jesus.
Their immortal souls are in heaven in God’s presence:
(Rev 5:8 DRB) And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
The universal stream connecting all of God’s creation is His love, which we take on in our baptism into our journey towards sanctification. This is not an emotional but a desire placed in us by the Spirit of God that endures as a desire for those other than ourselves and this love extends even to our enemies. This is truly a love that comes only from God and is a foreign concept and nonsense to those who have not received God’s salvific grace. This desire within our souls does not end with the death of our flesh but continues into eternity where the saints through their intercession in prayer encourage us in our race and assist us to endure unto our union with God.
I think that some people of faith, who do not understand the Communion of Saints, somehow believe that asking saints to pray for us is detracting from our love or our trust in God. In truth it is impossible, if we truly love as God commands and has given us the grace to understand, not to pray to those whom we love and in turn we expect them to return that same love to us by praying for us and presenting our prayers to God.

Pedophilia, sadly, affects various religions, businesses, families, even politicians.
Not that those sources cause it, they are simply affected by it from those who come in from outside.
Those who hide it are to be ashamed.
Those who try to deal with it, are to be commended.
Why do you neglect the second commandment and bow down to so many idols when it clearly says in Exodus 20:4
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth".
And also in Isaiah 46:6-7
"6They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yea, they worship.
7They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, one shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble"
And also in many places in the bible it says not to bow down before idols
Now the second:Mary and so many saints
Note:Mary has sinned like you and me.Where does it say in the Bible that Mary hasn't sinned???????
The bible clearly says in Romans 3:23
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"
And also in Romans 10:9
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one"
Mary was only a chosen vessel when Jesus was to come to he earth
Where does it say in the bible to pray to Jesus THROUGH Mary and saints???In fact it says in 1 Timothy 2:5
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"
And thirdly God wants us to ask forgiveness for our sins to HIM not through a priest
Note what He says in 1 John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
And also in 1 John 2:1
"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"
So if you are confessing your sins to a priest no one is actually hearing you at all.Confess your sins to JESUS
Finally it says in Romans 10:13
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"
Call upon Him and not any saint
Romans 10:9
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved".
And do you know that the Roman Catholic church has added books in the bible on their own????
It's will be starting from the book of TOBIT and end in PRAYER OF MANESSEH.
These books will not be in protestant bible like KJV and NKJV
Look how the Bible condemns anyone who adds anything to the bible in Revelation 22:18-29
"18 And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book.
19 And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book".
Well... I WAS a catholic for your kind information everyone...........
I agree with you also it states in the Bible :Matthew 23:9
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
They call a priest Father. What's up with that? And this verse does not mean your biological father.
Melvin -You will never get an educated answer for this question. I went to catholic school for 12 long years and never got my questions answered. People on here don't really know that answer either, because they are just kids.

Fly Fishing at St Timothy#39;s | Clocking Systems
Most of the problems of the world can be solved with just a little fly fishing. Although I have fished most of my life in different locales, I took up fly fishing about twenty years ago. One of the first things I learned was that casting a fly rod was unlike any other rod and reel I had ever used. It wasn’t a matter of sheer strength but rather a lot of finesse. The rhythmic casting between ten o’clock and two o’clock in a constant manner represents a harmony between rod, reel, line, fly and fisherman. Consequently, there is a certain amount of grace and serenity in fly-fishing. Watching a fly fisherman who knows what he is doing is truly a work of art which is why they constantly cultivate their skills in search of perfection.
Deep sea fishing is fun as you can drink a few beers and chew the fat with your buddies. However, fly fishing requires you to be more independent. Even when you work a stream with a group of your friends, you are essentially on your own and must respect the space of other fishermen. There is a certain amount of protocol to be observed on the stream, a sort of gentleman’s agreement with the Golden Rule being, “I won’t spoil you’re water and you won’t spoil mine.”

One point to ponder; this is often referred to as the pedophile priest scandals, but it is interesting to note that few - if any - of the children who have been abused are female. Anti-Catholicism and the Times by Patrick J. Buchanan
“Anti-Catholicism,” said writer Peter Viereck, “is the anti-Semitism of the intellectual.” It is “the deepest-held bias in the history of the American people,” said Arthur Schlesinger Sr.
If there was any doubt that hatred of and hostility toward the Catholic Church persists, it was removed by the mob that has arisen howling “Resign!” at Pope Benedict XVI.
