The catechism states(paragraph 1900, Catechism of the Catholic Church):
1900: The duty of obedience requires all to give due honor to authority and to treat those who are charged to exercise it with respect, and, insofar as it is deserved, with gratitude and good-will.
Pope St. Clement of Rome provides the Church's most ancient prayer for political authorities: "Grant to them, Lord, health, peace, concord, and stability, so that they may exercise without offense the sovereignty that you have given them. Master, heavenly King of the ages, you give glory, honor, and power over the things of earth to the sons of men. Direct, Lord, their counsel, following what is pleasing and acceptable in your sight, so that by exercising with devotion and in peace and gentleness the power that you have given to them, they may find favor with you."

As a catholic against amnesty, i can't understand why the church is for it.Why can't we enforce our laws?
And send all the illegals back to their country of origin? don't they understand that these people are stealing from american taxpayers?
*sigh*, It makes me so said to see our country being sold to illegal aliens.
I was raised Catholic but I am outraged that the church is advocating illegal immigration. The Catholic Church has lots of rules that don't make sense to me, like using a condom is a sin. So you just have to keep having children even if you can't afford it. Either that or don't have sex. Makes no sense.

Fellows,
Why do some people believe that Constantine I created the Catholic Church?
You see, the reign of Constantine was AD 280- AD 337 whereas the first mention of the Catholic church was in St. Ignatius' writing "katholike ecclesia" in 110 AD. The Catholic church was also merely an attempt by St. Paul to form a uniform system of beliefs between all of the varied locales of the early Christians. This system became a heirarchy which was described by St. Clement in the year 96 AD when he detailed the church as an army where "not all are officers.. each has his rank, carrying out the orders of the leader."Also, the "scholar" Origen was arrested and wrote numerous letters pleading for papal intercession in ~ AD 280.
So, where is PROOF that Constantine created the church despite the numerous accounts of a previously functional catholic church?
It's a bogus claim that comes from people that, for whatever reason, want to believe the Catholic Church is bogus. They attempt to "prove" it's allegedly fallacious claim of origin in Jesus by attempting to rewrite history that separates Jesus from His Church.
Emperor Constantine and the Edict of Milan seems to be the best place, from their point of view, to severe Jesus from His Church. Up until the Edict of Milan, the Church existed largely in secret, literally underground and away from life-threatening persecution.
Emperor Constaine, his conversion to Catholicism, and the Edict of Milan are all matters of easily verifiable secular historical record. These events occur, and Christianity comes out from hiding. It spreads like wildfire because being a Christian is no longer life-threating, and the fact is it state-sponsored by the Roman Empire.
Much of what Catholicism has to say about it's origin's in Jesus stems from the Bible, Church Fathers such as Saint Ingnatius, but secular-mind types who are running this Constantine-ploy simply dismiss these sources as unreliable.
Given the fact that the Church was in hiding until the forth century, what little information that did become public is easily swept under the rug or just forgotten in time. Put simply, it's easy to bury the history of the Church's REAL first four centuries of existance.
You, me, others like us, we know better. We are open to the Truth, and that's why It appears so obvious to us. To others that are against the Church, you know the saying, "There are none so blind as those who WILL NOT see."

Saint Ignatius (35-107), the second Bishop of Antioch wrote a letter to the Smyrneans in 107 A.D..
In this letter is recorded the first known use of the words "Catholic Church"...
Paragraph #8
"You must all follow the lead of the bishop, as Jesus Christ followed that of the Father; follow the presbytery as you would the Apostles; reverence the deacons as you would God's commandment. Let no one do anything touching the Church, apart from the bishop. Let that celebration of the Eucharist be considered valid which is held under the bishop or anyone to whom he has committed it. Where the bishop appears, there let the people be, just as where Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not permitted without authorization from the bishop either to baptize or to hold an agape; but whatever he approves is also pleasing to God. Thus everything you do will be proof against danger and valid."
To deny this you have to have your head way up your azz
Clements many writings prove that the Catholic Church was strong and consolidating writing almost immediately after the Apostles died off.

If you believe (wrongly) that the Catholic Church was not created until a few centuries after Christ's death, then how is it you can find among ancient Christian writings the letters of Pope Clement I, who was Pope and Bishop of Rome from 88 AD to 97 AD ?
In the list of Popes......
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12272b.h tm
.. the first four are:
St. Peter (32-67 AD)
St. Linus (67-76 AD)
St. Anacletus (76-88 AD)
St. Clement I (88-97 AD)
So, how can this be if there was no Catholic Church or no Popes until the 4th century?
(Realize this is a rhetoorical question.)

Oh I am sure they think we made it all up. History is not well known apparently. This is one of the reasons that for this home school year my sons and I are studying the History of the Catholic Church.

SUB TUUM: St. Clement Mary Hofbauer: An Apostle for Our Time
Today is the feast of one of my favorite saints, whom I came to know through my friend Mr. Goings. I know that I have many favorite saints, but this one is top ten if not top five and, of all the saints to whom I have a particular devotion, I think that he is the most important example for the times we live in. If you're only going to read one thing I write this month, make it this one. St. Clement Mary Hofbauer passed almost his entire life buffeted by secularist hostility, official government persecution, and ethnic mistrust, but persevered to become one of the great Redemptorist saints. He did not fight politics with politics and simply throw himself into the pamphleteering of the culture wars of his day. Instead, he responded with the tools given to a priest and to all Christians: ...
A Burlap Church No More
This past Sunday I made my way through South Philadelphia to attend a Traditional High Solemn Latin Mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church at 10th and Christian Streets. The last TLM I attended was sometime between my 11th and 12th birthday. I’d grown up with the TLM so its passing then was not a pleasant time for me. While I was captivated then by the Second Vatican Council, I didn’t want the Council to do anything to the Mass, so when the changes began—it took about a year for the liturgical reformatting to take effect—I’d brace myself whenever I went to church. Believe it or not, I’d stay awake at night and worry about what was happening to the Mass that I loved. Growing up, the nuns would tell us over and over how wonderful it was to be Catholic because no matter where you went...
