I was Baptised Roman Catholic at a Church called St Gerards. I have never been a Church going person, but i was always went to Catholic schools and learned the Word of God from my parents and from school. Since i had my son i want to go to Church and get him Baptised. But the thing is. I go to a different Church. Its NOT Roman Catholic, actually im not sure what religion they are, all i know is they sing great songs, have great services and praise God in a very joyious way, Which i think is the best way to give thanks and praise our Heavenly Father. I want my son to be baptised in the Church i was baptised in but My Sister, Who is VERY church going goes to St Gerards every Sunday, She thinks i shouldnt get his baptised there and go to another Church.. But i think its completely Okay, because im going to be teaching my son the Roman Catholic way but praising him the way i believe God should be praised... am i wrong for doing this.. I think getting baptised is a sign of a committment to God... not to a Church. so basically.. am i wrong in doing this?
The Church is not the one doing the baptism, it is Jesus Christ. I really do not think it matters where or when

Buffalo News Live: AJC: St. Gerard#39;s statue damaged in move
A 1,600-pound statue from St. Gerard's Catholic Church in Buffalo was damaged Saturday when it arrived in Georgia, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported today.
The statue, as well as a marble Paschal candle stand, are among the first items from St. Gerard's to be moved to Georgia under a plan to rebuild the Catholic Church outside of Atlanta for the parish of Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Norcross, Ga.
Pat Chivers, spokeswoman for Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta, told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that the broken statue is a message in restoration.
“We feel very responsible for this gift and want to make sure we restore it," Chivers told the Atlanta paper.

Obviously, royunderwood, you are one of those people that has no connection to the Church. What, exactly, is your plan to keep this beautiful building from deteriorating where it stands. No one in Buffalo has stepped up and shown any interest in preserving it for its designed purpose. You are categorically wrong about my "lack of vision." Again, as a parishioner, I personally know the familys whose ancestors built the church. They are in the group of people who want to move the building to where it will be used reverently. Perhaps you should focus your efforts on the other architectural gems that the city is demolishing.
...More Than A Building: St. Gerard Church in Buffalo, NY ... Moving ...
This is a perfect solution, and long overdue in cases like this. There are plenty of growning parishes all over the south who would love something like this, but everyone's been too busy whining and complaining to do anything about it. "Repurposed"? There are too many up there sitting empty already. Besides, as you say, it's more than a building, so I'd rather see them torn down than desecrated in any way.
Buffalo is a city with a wealth of historic churches. Unfortunately, too many of them have gone by the wayside in recent years, and I've seen what has happened with some of them that have either been repurposed only to have the repurposing fail; or just padlocked and left to rot, in some cases for decades. St. Gerard was simply beautiful - why let that beauty go to waste? If it can live on elsewhere, why not? The economy sucks. Local buyers are NOT lining up for these grand structures. Who wants to see pictures of the ones that have just been sitting and rotting for years? This church in particular needs so much work that if someone somewhere else is willing to take it however, and give it the work and rebirth it needs - why not? Otherwise - google Transfiguration Buffalo, Our Lady of Lourdes Buffalo, St. Francis de Sales Buffalo!
