Is ACU that bad of a university (Australian Catholic University) ?
Wine

It seems to host a few courses I'm interested in and most of my friends and family have told me not to go since it's "unpopular" and "would get me nowhere". I really want to hear from someone with experience or has basic knowledge on Universities around Melbourne. Thanks :]

Well I can't speek for the ACU in Melbourne, but there is one very close to me in Brisbane. Its a pretty good Uni. I don't "go" there, but I have been there for various forums, workshops and the open day etc. It seems like a good uni. Basic courses and small classes so good teacher-student ratio if you like having a personal touch in you schooling. I think most people just get kinda creeped by the catholic aspect. While its true they have masses and prayers, and the occasional priest walking round or whatever, they in no way force the religious thing on you. I have an atheist friend who is doing a teaching degree there because she wants to teach in a catholic school and catholic uni gives you an "in". I say if you like it, go for it.

Australian Catholic University...???
early morning.

Im planning to come to Australia for the first time and im planning to study at Australian Catholic University. I would like to study Master of Teaching ( Primary ) . This course is for two years. I would like to stay on Campus. Is it advisable and economical ? Are there any specific rules of the Campus that i need to be particularly aware of ? And how do i get a part time job ? What kind of part time jobs are available ? How do i get paid ? How do i open a bank account ? Are the ATM's close to the University ? Will these jobs be very far from the Campus ? If you'll do not mind, could you'll give me you'll email address so that i could correspond with you'll. Do feel free to give me any other information that you'll think necessary. Thank you so much.

Hi there,
I hope you find this helpful.Have you been to their website?
Staying on campus is most advisable, I cannot say whether it is economical. The campuses have very good accommodation.
ATMs are everywhere. To open a bank account you only need your passport. There are lots of part time jobs available. How far depends on you.If you wish to correspond my email is donmac45@hotmail.com or donmac45@yahoo.com.au

Should I wait for other university offers? ?
ACU Canberra campus

hey i just finished year 12 last year and got a UAI of 77.8. I want to become a teacher, and my preferences were
1.Sydney University - Bachelor of Primary education (UAI required 86)
2.Australian Catholic University - Bachelor of Education (Primary) (UAI 80)
3. University of Western Sydney - Bachelor of Arts/Diploma of Education

I had others but they don't count now because I got accepted by UWS.
The thing is, I would prefer to go to ACU because it is better for teaching, and I'm not sure if by waiting to see if I get offered by ACU in the late round offers that i risk losing the offer made by UWS. If I accept UWS, can I still be offered by other universities? And if I don't accept OR decline the offer by UWS, can I lose it? Because I don't want to be stuck with nothing in the end...
please help me :) thanks

I am in year 12 this year and wishing to go to ACU Strathfield, in my research i don't think that you can receive an offer if you have accepted one.

You need to accept or decline the offer within a certain time period (before 2nd round offers) as they ones that haven't been accepted are offered to them.

I think that you should ring up ACU and see if they can offer any more information that will help you to make your decision eg. how many people have accepted their offer (i dont know if they can tell you that but it is worth a shot).

Hope i helped a bit, good luck in deciding what to do,.

Which of these universities in Australia is best to study a Gradutate Diploma in Education?
ACU Ballarat campus

The options are:

La Trobe University, Melbourne
Queensland University of Technology
Macquarie University, Sydney
University of Western Australia
University of New South Wales
Australian Catholic University
University of South Australia
University of Wollongong
Griffith University
University of Queensland
Monash University

Thankyou

It depends on what you consider to be 'best'. In the absence of your definition of 'best', you can select by reputation generally. In this case the top universities generally are, but not in any specific order:

University of Queensland
Monash University
University of Western Australia
followed by the rest in your list.

You need to compare the course content of each and then determine which courses are of greatest value to you.

Hope this helps.
