If any Catholic Altar servers are reading this - I am serving on September 13 at church and am really nervous about it. And when I get nervous, I mess a lot of stuff up. How can I calm down and remember everything that they train me to do? Is it really hard?
There are HEAPS of them in Poland. Every 3 in 10 boys do it.
It's not hard.
You won't be the only one there, there are quite a few of the Altar boys there as well I suppose.

Looking for a 4 ft by 6 & a half foot Crucifix for Catholic Church behind the altar on the wall. I have searched everywhere to find one, the only ones I could find weren't what we were looking for. Anyone know someplace I could find one? Online?

Isn't this against Catholic tradition? Since Christ chose only men to be His priests to administer His Sacraments, then why does the Church now allow altar girls to serve at Mass? If a man feels he has a calling into the priesthood, from his experience as being an altar boy, then what's the point of having altar girls?
In order to understand this change you need to understand the sacrament of Holy Orders. There use to be seven of these: acolyte, lector, exorcist, sub-deacon, deacon, priest, and bishop. The first 4 were called minor orders and were not sacramental. The last three were called major orders and all are bestowed through the Sacrament of Holy Orders. A bishop therefore receives the same sacrament three different times in his life to be made deacon, then priest, then bishop.
The minor orders were suppressed after Vatican II. Installed acolytes would only be male because this was a step towards ordination. Although acolytes would perform the functions we associate with an altar server the words are not synonymous. An acolyte is someone(must be a male) installed into that order. An altar serve(either male or female) is someone who assists the priest at Mass. This is the same reason that females can now be lectors at Mass as well.

The Priest was doing mass at the door of the church, with all our backs against the altar. He was saying something like: we will have to go to war with a country because a catholic visionary had prophesied it, and we had to obey. A christian couple sitting next to me, was saying, this is the stuff movies are made of, and right then the priest asked us to kneel towards the door, and I didn't want to because I was giving my back to the altar.
Maybe it's suggesting you leave the Catholic religion?
I'm not allowed to take communion, so is it ok? I feel like to do so is to go against my deepest held principles.
I don't think that it would spoil the wedding, as long as you acted in a respectful manner and don't intentionally draw attention to yourself. Just walk by with the others, but don't bow, or just quietly say a prayer of your own faith. I know of many Catholic weddings in which the bride and groom have attendants of other religions, and likewise, of Protestant weddings that include Catholics.
I don't think they'd allow it, and then deliberately do things to make the attendants uncomfortable. The reason that you can't be given communion is that the priest is forbidden to knowingly give communion to anyone who doesn't believe in transubstantiation-the idea that the Host (wafer) actually becomes the body and blood of Christ. If anyone does go up, and the priest knows he doesn't believe that, he simply makes the sign of the cross over the person's head, blessing them.
No one wants to make you feel inferior-just don't do what you''re strongly against, but do so with respect for the occasion, and for the bride and groom.

As a Catholic child, I had always wondered what was so good about Good Friday .
There was this idea floating around our church that the good came from the fact that Jesus Christ died for our sins on one particularly good (for us) Good Friday 1,977 years ago, but personally, I didn't think He would have considered a day of insults, flogging, crucifixion, and death one of His better days.
Maybe it was just me. Even as a born-and-raised Catholic, I had a hard time getting my head around the belief that the Father (the bearded man who floated on clouds and got mad from time to time), the Son (the Good Cop to His Father's Bad Cop), and the Holy Spirit (never, ever understood that one) were all the same God. They were three closely related, but distinct personalities. Jesus was the fun one. The one who could do magic tricks. He, more than anyone else of his day, was handy to have around at parties.

Going by the name of GAI, the group claims, among other things, that if it were not for the abuse suffered at the hands of their beloved priests while in their formative sexual years, they would not have turned out the way they are now, i.e. most are closeted homosexuals fearful of going out into public and further spreading their gayness to other males. The members of GAI truly believe they have been cursed with an affliction not unlike that of the lepers. They believe that if they buy the Church, keep it closed only to existing homosexuals, and not allow any new altar boys to become victims of Catholic clergy members who are lying in wait to prey on them, then the generational cycle of abuse will finally end. The existing pedophiles will simply have to make do with their circumstances and...
