I will be a Godmother very soon and I wanted to know what are the "traditional" gifts for Catholic baptisms from the Godparent(s). So far, I've picked up on: the Godparents pay for the GodChild's outfit (dress, sweater, & shoes, etc.
And then I'm considering a crucifix necklace, engraved cross to hang on the wall above the door, and a rosary? Would a rosary even be appropriate?
A rosary would be an appropriate gift for a first communion or confirmation gift, unless you are talking about a large wall rosary that could be hung above the child's bed. I like to give something with a guardian angel theme, such as a picture or a night light that can be placed in the child's room.

What is a good gift to give for a baby's Catholic baptism? Recently when I went to my boyfriend's Godson's baptism, the presents consisted of four rosaries, two crosses (plus a crucifix), a few bible and saint books, and at least three stuffed animals that pray. What can I get my best friend's baby for his Baptism this weekend that is not the same old cliche Baptism gift??? PLEASE HELP.
There is a store called "Things Remember" that engraves. If there is one close to you, they have great gifts, like blankets and all sorts of things. Find something you like and have it engraved with his name and the date of his Baptism.

I have never been a Godparent before, but now I have been asked to I am a bit nervous! Is there anything I have to do before the service? Any prayers I will need to say to the priest etc? Also, it is not a private service, so when do I give my gift? I have only been to private services before, and they are given afterwards. Please could someone give me a step by step guide of what i will have to do, and what will happen.
the celebrant will instruct you on what you will have to say and do. Don't worry. It is not a big deal. The Holy Spirit is running the show.
Give the gift after the service.

Catholic Gifts – Ideas for Baptism and More: A Guide to Religious ...
Within the Catholic Church, there are seven sacraments. While some, such as the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick, may be celebrated individually, most are community events. Family and friends often join together to commemorate occasions such as baptism, first communion and confirmation.
It is not uncommon for gifts to be bestowed upon the person receiving the sacrament. However, it can be difficult to find the perfect item to mark these important events. Below are some suggestions for Catholic gift-giving as well as unique gifts.
Catholic Baptism GiftsAt baptism, original sin is removed, and a person formally enters into the Catholic Church. Although baptism can occur at any time, most Catholic parents have their children baptized as infants. Since Catholic baby gifts are not always easy to find, many baptismal gifts are intended for either future use or as a remembrance of the day.
...An Explanation of the Scriptural Use of Oil for Anointing – From ...
I apologize for being slow to post in the past month. It’s been a busy Lent. I read Pope Benedict’s Homily on the meaning of Holy Oils and I thought I’d share it, since there’s a fair amount of scriptural reference. Benedict is a true scholar of scripture, so I hope you enjoy it. FYI, the Catholic Church blesses its Holy Oil during Holy Week, at the “Chrism Mass.”
The Chrism Mass, held once a year at the Cathedral either on Tuesday or Thursday of Holy Week, is a special occasion. It is the only church service of the year that all priests in a diocese are expected to attend.
At the centre of the Church’s worship is the notion of “sacrament”. This means that it is not primarily we who act, but God comes first to meet us...
