the reason i`m asking this is.strange as it sounds..i cannnot find a Catholic bible study group in my local area..

I have recently started studying the Bible with a Seventh Day Adventist friend and am amazed how much I am learning. I have been a Catholic all my life and have never been encouraged to actually study the Bible. The Catholic Church encouraged me to learn the "additional books", traditions and ceremonies that they have (which I now know goes against God's word), but not the Bible.
I feel closer to God now than ever before, there is great excitement in understanding his word.
I have also attended a SDA Bible study class and it is great to be around others and openly discus the Bible, they had no problem with me attending (even though I was Catholic).
I would strongly recommend Bible study to you and wish you well as you learn.

Hi. I am wanting to get a Catholic study bible for my girlfriend for Christmas. The bible she has is from her confirmation and is very worn out. However, I don't really know much about the catholic bible and wasn't sure what a good translation is? Can anyone recommend anything?

Thanks! I really want to get her something that shows that I am wanting to lead this relationship and bring her closer to God. I am not saying I should be the cause of her relationship of God, but personally believe that the role of the guy is to bring the relationship closer to God.
