I want to have my book published here in the Philippines. I wonder if it is better if I have it copyrighted in the National Library first and have it published myself or I pass it to publishers so that it would easily be distributed to different bookstores. They say doing things myself means more money, but not if not many people have access to it, right? Any comments? its a compilation of short stories intertwined with the bible quotes (its a catholic book). Thanks
Good question. The best way to do that is go to a publishing company or look for ads of people hiring people to publish books. Maybe talk to an author.

Cosmos or the Love of God
Pierre de Calan
Published as part of the Loyola Classics series, this classic novel recounts the spiritual struggle of a young man who believes he has a vocation to become a Trappist monk, but the reality of monastic life disappoints him deeply. If he can't live the life, does that mean God isn't calling him to it?

Living the Mass
How One Hour a Week Can Change Your Life
Fr. Dominic Grassi and Joe Paprocki
The concluding prayer of the Mass is a command: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. We are charged to go forth and quite literally transform our families, our communities, and our world through the redeeming sacrifice of Christ as celebrated in the Mass. The authors use this challenge as the starting point for their inspiring and illuminating look at the central act of Catholic worship.
So, what do you all think?
You almost can't miss. Loyola Press has a great reputation for quality. I'd go with the first book, though, Jim Manney's. There are more points of view, more topics, more things for the candidates to discuss. I haven't read the 'de Calan' book, but it seems rather narrow in outlook and may not resonate with the majority of the candidates.
The Catholic Inquisition published The Malleus Maleficarum or The Witches’ Hammer, the most blood-soaked book in human history, it instructed the clergy on how to locate, torture and kill all freethinking women, in three centuries of witch hunts, thousands of women are captured, burned alive at the stake...

Isn't it commonly understood that they were separated from the Bible by Martin Luther?
Both 1 and 2 Maccabees are in the Gutenberg Bible, published a century before Luther was born, which proves that the Catholic Church didn't add them at the Council of Trent after the Reformation; they were taken out by Luther during the Reformation.
Because they are taught incorrectly by their teachers.
Protestants have fully accepted each and every one of the 27 books that the Catholics selected for the New Testament over 1,500 years ago.
The difference in the Old Testaments actually goes back to the time before and during Christ’s life. At this time, there was no official Jewish canon of scripture.
The Jews in Egypt translated their choices of the Hebrew Scriptures into Greek in the second century before Christ. This translation of 46 books, called the Septuagint, had wide use in the Roman world because most Jews lived far from Palestine in Greek cities. Many of these Jews spoke only Greek.
The early Christian Church was born into this world. The Church, with its bilingual Jews and more and more Greek-speaking Gentiles, used the books of the Septuagint as its Bible. Remember the early Christians were just writing the documents what would become the New Testament.
After the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, with increasing persecution from the Romans and competition from the fledgling Christian Church, the Jewish leaders came together and declared its official canon of Scripture, eliminating seven books from the Septuagint.
The books removed were Tobit, Judith, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees, Wisdom (of Solomon), Sirach, and Baruch. Parts of existing books were also removed including Psalm 151 (from Psalms), parts of the Book of Esther, Susanna (from Daniel as chapter 13), and Bel and the Dragon (from Daniel as chapter 14).
The Christian Church filled with the Holy Spirit did not follow suit but kept all the books in the Septuagint. 46 + 27 = 73 Books total.
1500 years later, Protestants decided to keep the Catholic New Testament but change its Old Testament from the Catholic canon to the Jewish canon.
The books that were removed supported such things as
• Prayers for the dead (Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45)
• Purgatory (Wisdom 3:1-7)
• Intercession of saints in heaven (2 Maccabees 15:14)
• Intercession of angels (Tobit 12:12-15)
The books they dropped are sometimes called the Apocrypha.

With love in Christ.
My grandfather has recently written a biographical book on the surprisingly exciting life of a Catholic priest. He's looking to find a publisher for this book, which, he jokingly says, "will revitalize the priesthood".
However, he's wary of publishers such as PublishAmerica and other vanity presses and print-on-demand pbulishers. What publishers should he send his book to and which publishers does he stand the best chance of getting his book published?
Thanks.
If the priest is local and/or well known to your area then his best bet will be to research local or regional small presses, including, if available, the state University press.
Otherwise you may find something of use to you here:

It is fairly unlikely that a large national house will express interest in his work unless there is something major that sets it apart from the pack. This sounds like a work well suited to niche publication. He is wise to avoid self publishing. That's a nasty little rabbit hole.
By the way, just as with any other publisher, he should not just send his work off to them. He needs to research their requirements and query them to see if there is interest, though frequently with small press there is less of a need for an agent than there is with the national houses.

The Catholic faith has its presence not only in the religious aspect of the lives of it members, but also in education and a variety of social issues. Against this background, it is necessary for the Catholic Church to reach, and clarify the views of the Church on different topics. These views are about books and other reading materials will be expressed, that Catholics have access to the church or in the bookstore. To express these views, certain groups within the church andSeveral municipalities have decided to publishers that the publication of books and materials to establish justice for the Catholics.
What they publish
The most common materials that can print these publishers are hymnals, measurements and other materials for the celebration of the Eucharist. These publishers also print copies of the songs sung during Mass so that Catholics learn the songs and sing along. Apart from these, print reading materials, such as Catholic publishersBooks written by the Pope, other priests and even lay persons. The only consideration for the printing of these materials is that they should contribute to the spiritual needs of Catholics around the world. Some of these books cover topics like the sacraments, marriage, the priesthood, the family and the modern church. There are also books on the biographies of various saints, and some notable Catholics.
...Catholic Bibles: The Catholic Book of Scripture Passages
I was using it last night for night prayer, since I wanted to pray focusing on Scripture passages related to Holy Week and everything I wanted was right there in front of me. This book contains a section specifically for Holy Week with readings from Isaiah, Zechariah, and various New Testament authors. (There are also sections for the other main liturgical seasons of the year.) In addition, this small book has a section relating various Scripture passages to the seven Sacraments and the saints. I teach Scripture at a local Catholic high school, along with doing ministry work to youth and young adults. In May of 2009, I finished up graduate theology studies and was awarded the S.T.B. degree. The S.T.B. is an ecclesiastical degree conferred by the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas...
