Question concerning a convalidation ceremony in the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland. . .?

My wife and I were married December 28th of last year and are going to Ireland for our honeymoon in August. We were married in a chapel, but my wife would really like our marriage to be recongnized by the Catholic Church. I thought we could have a small, private ceremony while in Ireland; however, I have no idea what would be the ideal church or ideal place to have the ceremony (it would just be the two of us). We are going to Dublin, Galway, Killarney, Cork, and Kilkenny. Just basically looking for a beautiful, old church in a picturesque part of Ireland. I've had difficulty finding individual churches to contact online and my local church wasn't able to help me as their directory only includes churches within the U.S. Also, I know the local Catholic parish requires 6 months notice in order to marry people. Is this how it works in Ireland as well? Is that really necessary since we're already legally married?

Congratulations!

I suggest you call the diocesan offices of the cities you plan to visit. They will know the rules for convalidation and available churches.

How can the Roman Catholic Church claim apostolic authority?

The continued claim, which has zero basis in the Bible, that an earthly authority has been established in one, only one human being is based on the work of Peter. The claim is that there hasbeen a continual and unbroken line of this apostle from Peter until today.
By their number in papal succession, the following gaps of more than one year when there existed no reigning pope:

29-30, 3+ yrs
70-71, 1+ yrs
180-181, 1+ yrs
184-185, 2+yrs
192-193, 1+yrs
196-197, 1+yrs
206-207, 1+yrs
This list is not exhaustive, just what's visible through a cursery view of the list of popes.
"At this point, as again in the mid-eleventh century, we come across elections in which problems of harmonizing historical criteria and those of theology and canon law make it impossible to decide clearly which side possessed the legitimacy whose factual existence guarantees the unbroken lawful succession of the Successors of Saint Peter"quoted from the Holy See's annual directory, Annuario Pontificio
The quote above is dealing with the clouded succession of claimed popes and claimed anti-popes

The above list is not exhaustive and there are many, many more large (6 months or more) where there existed NO head of the Catholic church.
so even the OFFICIAL CATHOLIC PUBLICATION DENIES THE ABILITY TO SUBSTANTIATE THE CLAIM!
If the Church itself, admits that it is not possible to know who was and who was not really the elected pope, why continue the charade?
Follow this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope
And read about the election process. Why should such holy men have to take such steps when they are doing what God, himself, has directed them to do? Why have there benn numerous burned ballots that have not contained the correct number of votes?
Why the constant attempts at fraud in such a holy group of church leaders? And the pope comes from this esteemed group, to become infallable (until that time, he is totally fallible)
As for the idea that the election is biblically based, following the election of Mattius, we see in Acts 1 : 18-20 and in 1Cor 15: 1-9, that the filling of the space left by Judas Iscarriot was not filled by the earthly election, but by Saul, who God renamed Paul.
If the Catholic church wishes to follow the example of the election of Mattius, then they should also accept that this was not God's will!
So powerful in faith was mattius, we find nothing of him or his works ever again! (even the apostles made mistakes, including Peter, a man who NEVER accepted any type of position or authority that the Catholic church attributes top him
Mattius=Mathias=Matthias
As I have seen, in various places and translations these spellings, just so there is no confusion
the apocrypha, to which you allude, are many heresies that true Christianity rejects,it is the foul satanic roman catholic church who ADDS!
proof? The books, and you mention maccabbees, are not now, were not ever, accepted as JEWISH canon! But the Catholic church insists that they were and that is the reason for the inclusion!
as for the word churches (plural) you CAN indeed, find that there are Churches listed in the Bible, even the corrupted catholic version. Look up the word in a concordance.
paul praised the bareens for searching the scriptures to find out if what the apostles were sying was true or not, but the Roman catholic church outlawed the word of God, Burned Bibles and had translators murdered.
Yes, oh YES, very Godly!, very much the example of Christ!
NOT!!!!!!

There have been short periods of time when there has not been a Pope. But apostolic authority does not rest only in the Pope, the successor of Simon Peter.

Apostolic authority rests in the entire college of bishops, the successors of the Apostles. The laying on of hands from one generation of bishops to the next is unbroken back to the time of the Apostles.

With love in Christ.

What are the best (Catholic) churches in Bulacan & Bataan?

I'm arranging a pilgrimage which is set to happen in Central Luzon & I'm considering Bulacan & Bataan...however, there aren't a lot of info sources on Bataan churches (except this perhaps: http://www.balangadiocese.com/directory. htm, found in: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index; _ylt=AnaoohBNi5rn26Lq.S324Y5IzKIX;_ylv=3 ?qid=20071120075236AA0XNJj). If I try to stick to Bulacan only, what are the churches there that you would suggest for pilgrimage? How beautiful are the churches you would suggest & what are their significance/importance/value?
(significance may be religious, historical, aesthetic, etc.)
Please stick to Bulacan & Bataan suggestions only. MuchaThanks!
sorry to tell you Rax, but I've found so many seemingly beatiful & historically rich churches in Bulacan (as compared to Bataan, that is)... I've already tried wowphilippines & bulacan.gov.ph...

eezy_jex ®, Thanks! could you please tell me more as to their history? & what makes Balanga & Orani churches special?
there's also this Divine Mercy shrine in Marilao, Bulacan (it has a website on geocities...unfortunately, I forgot about it) that really seemed to have gone through miracles (they're common anyway...) They say it's now a common pilgrimage site...
timbers, don't worry. we're not going to churches just to please our eyes. :) my team is trying to create a sort of spiritual program in relation with the patrons of the venues so that we wouldn't just go to the place just to appreciate their aesthetical aspects... we would be making special offerings for each place we visit; and we wish those offerings would be significant to the venue/s.
I've chosen Bataan after imacatholic2 has given me a very helpful directory as an answer to a previous question. Thanks to imacatholic2!

How do you write a conclusion for a speech?

so i wrote an essay on why napolean was a friend of the revolution and idk how to write the conclusion. please help. besides summarizing the main pts. and help with additional sentences for 4th pgh. thanks. heres the essay:
Fellow citizens of France,

Napoleon was clearly a friend of the revolution. Napoleon Bonaparte was born in 1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica. In 1779, he entered Brienne military school, and graduated at 16. He overthrew the directory government and became the commander of the French army. He proceeded to cross the Alps and won many victories against Austria and Sardinia. He crowned himself emperor of France in 1804. In 1810, he married Marie Louise and had a son to become the king of Rome. As a military genius, he whipped the army of 10,000 infantry into shape, followed by many victories over Italy, Austria. The mastermind never used a strategy twice. Napoleon was a friend of the revolution by creating better laws, and promoting equality. He also improved the economy, and created positive social change. France was changed for the better because of Napoleon’s rule.

To begin with, Napoleon created improved laws and equality with France. He created public schools called lycées and 6,000 scholarship opportunities. Before public schools, not everyone had a chance for education so it was impossible for them to progress out of the peasant class and their poverty. They were not entitled to on of the three natural rights according to Locke: opportunity. Napoleon fired corrupt leaders, and selected officials fairly for the good of the French people. This made the government controlled with fairness and people more satisfied with the country. Leaders were also probably pleased because they knew they had been selected fairly. Additionally, the church lands became controlled by the government. Earlier, the Catholic Church’s overwhelming power took advantage of how the land was used. It was unreasonable for the Pope in Italy to own 10% of the land in France. Jews and Christians also became equal to one another. Religious equality made all people equal under the law and decreased the power of the Catholic Church over other religions. Many laws were created by Napoleon that were a positive addition for the people of France.

Secondly, Napoleon greatly improved the economy of France. He established a national bank and fair tax collection. Previously, the third estate made up of 98% of the population was required to pay half of their income to taxes, while the first estate paid 2%, and the second estate paid none to taxes. Napoleon solved this problem and developed equality among the estates. He also gave out state loans to businesses and consolidated debt. Businesses needed loans so they could start their business and then pay back the money, making the economy more successful. By combining the debt, he made it easier to pay off. In addition, he stabilized the currency and balanced the budget. With the currency worth always changing, one wouldn’t know how much they would be paying for bread in the next week. He made it much easier for people by keeping prices stable. The economy was greatly enhanced as a result of Napoleon, which helped the people of France.

Third, he created positive social change. Under Napoleon, children could receive equal inheritance from their parents. This prevented inequality between families and outrages
or rebellion of French people because of the difference of inheritance. People could also marry or divorce as they wished, outside the Catholic Church. By limiting the excessive
power of the church, fairness of marriage was provided to everyone, not just Christians. He stopped the revolts of the peasants as well, and unified the classes so they could work together. Napoleon claimed he would help the peasants, so they stopped rebelling with outbreaks. I DON’T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY I KNOW THIS PGH IS TOO SHORT.

In a conclusion, you should restate your main points, in different words then in your intro, and if it's a speech, it's usually wise to leave your audience with an interesting quote, fact or a rhetorical question.

Unbroken line of popes?

Hitting this topic again. The Catholic church claims a title deed to the church based upon an unbroken line of popes from Peter to the present. How can you call it an unbroken line when in the Holy See's annual directory, Annuario Pontificio the following is stated.

"At this point, as again in the mid-eleventh century, we come across elections in which problems of harmonizing historical criteria and those of theology and canon law make it impossible to decide clearly which side possessed the legitimacy whose factual existence guarantees the unbroken lawful succession of the Successors of Saint Peter"

If they admit they do not know who was Pope at certain times how is the line unbroken?
Catholic Crusader - you are ignoring the question. I know the line of "unbroken" popes. However my question is why when they admit at times they did not know who was Pope then how can the line be unbroken. This is the Vatican saying that at times they were not sure who the pope was.
This is a publication by the Vatican that this quote comes from. I would assume you think the Vatican should be a reliable source about Catholicism.
Zoomzoom - I agree with you. I guess I am just trying to get some Catholics to leave the pope and come join us protestants. I think they would be happier if they did.

They have a serious problem since the first Pope was not named til 607 AD. Peter did not found the Catholic Church. Peter like all then Apostles were Jews. He founded the first Messianic Jewish Church. The Jewish Christian Church remained Jewish and remained somewhat separate from Gentile churches. There has also always been a Gentile church remnant (such as Waldensians and other Anabaptist groups) , from the 1st century to today, separated from the Roman Catholics even before the Reformation. The Reformation brought to light the gross abuses of the Roman Catholic Church... like the Crusades, Inquisition, Papal political power, Indulgences and etc. People who think or claim that the Roman Catholic Church is and has been the only true church are sadly mistaken. History shows otherwise.

It means work that expresses the essential dignity of every man and woman in the context of their particular society: work that is freely chosen, effectively associating workers, both men and women, with the development of their community; work that enables the worker to be respected and free from any form of discrimination; work that makes it possible for families to meet their needs and provide schooling for their children, without the children themselves being forced into labor; work that permits the workers to organize themselves freely, and to make their voices heard; work that leaves enough room for rediscovering one’s roots at a personal, familial and spiritual level; work that guarantees those who have retired a decent standard of living.”  Let us strive together to provide such decency within our St. Anastasia family.

A lot of people these days see only the negatives in religion. In my view this slightly lazy "all or nothing" position overlooks the fact that for many millions of people, religious belief, brings light, hope and empowerment, to countless lives that may otherwise not have found it. Through this perspective, the recent revelations regarding the transgressions of the Catholic church are all the more disappointing and, indeed, abhorrent.

Children were abused by men who they and their families considered figures of trust and authority. Furthermore, the abuse and misuse of power did not stop at the perpetrators themselves but seems to have spread all the way up to the very top of the Catholic church to Bishops, Cardinals and even the Pope himself - all of whom appear guilty of failing to act with sufficient seriousness or judgement in dealing with the abusers or, indeed, supporting the abused.
