I've been trying to find the answer to this everywhere, but no luck. if anyone has any ideas at all, help would be greatly appreciated.
Much of the Church's position on sin is based on the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225–7 March 1274). One of the 33 Doctors of the Church, he is considered by many Catholics to be the Catholic Church's greatest theologian and philosopher.
The Summa Theologica (or the Summa Theologiae or simply the Summa, written 1265–1274), summarizes the reasonings for almost all points of Christian theology in the West. There is a lengthy treatise on the nature of sin.
This was later codified by the Council of Trent in Session 5 on June 7, 1546. There were 5 Canons and 4 Decrees on the subject.
Hope this helped.

someone who is NOT Jewish. therefore, Christians are Gentiles as well. its just a term in Judaism. they dont have a Catholic definition because Catholics are "Gentiles" as well.
If not, then by definition could Protestantism be considered heresy?
Heresy means opinion or doctrine at variance with the orthodox or accepted doctrine, esp. of a church or religious system.
The Catholic Church defended Jesus' original teaching for 1500 years as the orthodox and accepted doctrines of Christianity before any Protestant doctrine was announced. Where the Protestants invented new, unorthodox, unaccepted and unacceptable interpretations of Jesus' teaching, at odds with 1500 years of consistent Christian interpretation, of course they were heretics.
How did Protestants arrive at their new doctrines? They read Catholic texts (the New Testament) while rejecting all previous Catholic readings and rejecting the authority of the church Jesus established to "bind and loose" in interpreting his teachings.
Recent evangelical interpreters are shedding some of the baggage of foolish Protestant interpretations (Bible alone, faith alone) to reach back to the early centuries of Christianity to discover the original meaning of Christian teachings. These new evangelical scholars might merit a new division of Christianity into Catholic, Protestant, and Evangelical.

As I understand it, medicine defines death as occurring when the brain ceases activity; it is at this point that organs are removed from donors. What does the Church say? I know that there are disagreements over when LIFE begins -- or rather, pregnancy: medicine defines this as beginning at the moment of implantation in the uterus. By contrast, the Catholic Church defines it as occuring at the moment of conception -- i.e. the union of the sperm and egg cells.
But that's beside the point: I was just wondering whether the opposite is accepted.
Yes.
The Church accepts Science's definition of when life starts (at conception) and when life ends.

Catholic League President Insists Scandal Involves Homosexuals Not ...
Bill Donohue, the controversial head of the Catholic League, was recently denounced for appearing to suggest that the parents were at fault in some way in cases of child abuse against the church. Now, he has argued that coverage of claims in Wisonsin referring to “child abuse” are wrong since “the vast majority of the victims [were] post-pubescent.”
This tool claims to have the ‘facts’ like he knows what facts are considering that he believes some guy just magically rose from the dead and currently hangs out in the clouds.
It’s people like Donohue that ought to be smacked – repeatedly – upside his empty melon. And, it is abundantly obvious the Church doesn’t subscribe to the saying, “the buck stops here.” Gee, what would Jesus do?
...The Rule: The Catholic Approach to Work: Definition
Therefore, we should look to the Author of All Work, for whatever "moves, lives, grows, develops, and acts" does so "by means of power drawn from God." [1] Only God creates, in the true sense of the term, but God has allowed Man to be His co-worker and His helpmate in the economy of salvation. God provides the "gifts from which we draw the material for new work", whether they be physical or intellectual gifts. In times past, the Christian world emphasized the importance of uniting spiritual work and physical work, as seen in the Rule of St. Benedict and the Benedictine motto "Ora et Labora" or "Prayer and Work". Contrast that with today, when work is seen as a necessary evil, to be tolerated for the sake of making a living. As Pope Pius XI stated in Quadragesimo Anno: In reality, work is a...
