Established as a diocese in 1843 and as an Archdiocese in 1880, The Archdiocese of Chicago serves more than 2.3 million Catholics in Cook and Lake counties in Northeastern Illinois, a geographic area of 1,411 square miles. Should I quit my job at the Catholic Diocese to go work at a Country Club?
St. Patrick's Cathedral

I have been working at this clerical job for 4 years now and it is getting old. I am 20 years old and just got a job at the local country club. I would be leaving a boring job which is easy for a fun job with more work??

well .................
the way the world is going these day
perhaps the country club might last longer than the Catholic Church

so that is one consideration to keep in mind

What is the oldest Catholic diocese in California?
The Beautiful Ceiling of St. Patrick's Cathedral

Also, when was it founded?

The Diocese of Two Californias (Baja and Alta) broke off from the Diocese of Sonora in 1840.

Then in 1849 the Diocese of Two Californias name was changed to the Diocese of Monterey.

Which catholic diocese in the Philippines allow interfaith marriage?
St. Patrick's Cathedral

thanks for the replies so far. esp. for the link to the catechism site. I do know that interfaith marriages are allowed. at least theoretically but the problem is when I inquired, I was told at the church that my diocese (cuabo) doesn't allow it. It occured to me that that my problem could be a stupid or lazy clerk giving the wrong info.
but if anyone knows of a particular diocese in metro manila that they are really sure of that allows interfaith marriage, please post it. thanks.

The Catholic Church allows marriage between Catholics and non-Catholics worldwide.

Because the Church recognizes the tremendous challenge that the interfaith couple will face, they may have to get permission from the bishop.

Is it morally okay for a Catholic Diocese to declare bankruptcy...?
St. Patrick's Cathedral

In order to head off child molestation lawsuits?

So far at least 6 Dioceses in the US have employed this tactic. Is this legitimate, or a rather cynical move to prevent the facts of the cases from coming out publicly?

Thanks in advance.

Bankruptcy of these diocese is complex and I will answer to provide justification even knowing you are only looking for agreement. Bankruptcy was in some cases filed right before hearings were to take place. The church has justified this by saying that it need time to pool funds in the effected diocese's in order to be able to provide restitution to all the victims and not the first few who settled. Some restructured and took the time to mortgage and sell property. The victims list, alleging incidents decades ago, continued to grow as funds became available. If you looked at some of the allegations, they would never have been proven in court, but the Church took the road of believing most of the victims. The amount of actual fraud will never be known. Anyhow, properties were sold and mortaged and multimillion dollar pools were established to allow out of court settlements.

To say this was totally not of a strategic nature, in some cases, would more than likely be a falsehood, but the Church has attorneys who must deal with worldly laws. Their advice must be heeded.

You must honor the way the Church conducted itself in handling what was primarily consentual homosexual conduct and not child predatation as portrayed by the media. They accepted the word of people who alleged abuse from the 1960's, what other entity would have done this? So no they were not morally wrong.

Now, two months later, the classic red Anglican doors have been repainted green, the simple cross on top of the steeply peaked bell tower has been lopped off, and a windowpane cross in the side door has been disfigured leaving only narrow vertical glass with the cross beam being painted over to hide it. The Muslims consider the cross a pagan symbol. The Kennedys' battle with their diocese was sparked by the deepening spiritual morass which is gripping the heart and soul of The Episcopal Church, particularly the authority of Scripture and loosening sexual morals. Finally, the 2006 consecration of Vicky Gene Robinson as bishop in New Hampshire became the spiritual straw that broke Good Shepherd's camel's back. In April 2008, Attorney Raymond J. Dague, Good Shepherd's legal counsel, explained...

Public Responds to Catholic Diocese Retaliatory Funding Cut ...

Is reporting today that in the wake of the Catholic Diocese pulling funding from Preble Street’s Homeless Voices for Justice because of Preble Street’s support for No on 1 and marriage equality, there has been a groundswell of donations raising over $10,000 since the story broke.  Homeless Voices for Justice (HVJ) is an advocacy program that is housed at Preble Street (and is run separately).  HVJ did not take a stand, but the staff of Preble Street (their fiscal agent and host organization) did based on their experiences with youth whose homelessness was caused because of issues around sexual orientation and discrimination.  It’s a great response, and sends a strong message.  But we can do more.  You can donate directly here (note it’s for Homeless Voices for Justice).
