My relastionship is rocky and my husband is not helping matters by lying. My husband is Catholic and just Friday we got married in the Catholic church so I can be baptised and confirmed Catholic. My husband and I had a civil marriage by a ordained minister and we are heading towards are two year anniversary. Things just seem to be getting out of hand. He is addicted to World of Warcraft, he insults my inteligence and is very spiteful. We have a one year old together. My husband is not even a practising Catholic.
Leave him. Religion has nothing to do with it. If you don't love him, and he habitually lies to you, why would you stay with him?

Can a catholic divorce an abusive spouse?
Assuming the marriage was entered into with the full understanding and consent of both parties involved and the requirements for an annulment are not met.
Can they divorce? Should they be able too?
Catholics can apply for an annulment.
Divorce yes but then the church has rules ie not receiving communion etc.
Personally annulment to me is the same as divorce and I get cross at the way divorce is viewed differently.

Who here believes that there is no divorce? and that if you do get divorced you cannot remarry or you will be commiting adultry. and you can not take the communion. Even if the guy beats his wife senseless or is a crazy religious finatic, you will stay married to him forever because that is what god says. God says there is not divorce.
That is the craziest belief i ever heard.
an annulment doesn't make any sense. an annulment says that the marriage never took place.
How can you annul something that already happened.

can someone explain this then
Catholics will recognize an annulment, which basically means that the marriage never existed, but certain conditions need to be met.
There are a lot of crazy things Catholics believe...
I'm 16 and trying to return to the catholic church, however someone told me that the church does not recognize divorced children as ever even being born. My mother is catholic and divorced my non-catholic father.
No no no. The Catholic Church has never said that the children of divorced parents are illegitimate. Actually, being divorced in the Catholic Church is being seperated. The parents would have to get an anulment. An anulment makes it like the marriage was never there (void). But still then, the children from the marriage are still legitimate.
God bless you+

My marriage is just no fun anymore
I have been with my husband for 9 years now, he adopted my daughter and has helped me raise her as his own. She is 11. The first 4 years of our relationship was full with drama, fights, jealousy, and insecurities on both our parts. Then there was few years of greatness. We are doing fine, good jobs, great house all that type of stuff, but it seems like all we do is argue. He complains about everything, nothing is ever good enough for him. I have thought about leaving many times and what keeps me there is my daughter. She loves her Dad and I can't imagine making her go without, because I couldn't afford the lifestyle we have on my own. I know these aren't reasons to stay in a marriage, but I'm catholic and divorce just isn't an option when you have grown up Catholic....

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is set to ask the Vatican to change the rules on annulment and to consider allowing divorce in the Philippines, the only Catholic country where it is still banned.
The CBCP, in its latest conclave had reviewed the rising cases of frustrated suicides and parricides involving spouses trying to escape the hell of their marriages.
In their letter to the Vatican, the Philippine bishops recommended that suicide and parricide survivors should be granted automatic permission for annulment. It also said the Holy See should review its description of ‘psychological incapacity’ defined by the Philippine Supreme Court, seen by many as a covert branch of the Church, as inability to qualify for heaven.
