What is the significance of this? Do "post-Easter" crosses have a place in your religious art and Jewelry too?
To Whom It May Concern: If you really want to completely lose my respect, post something anti-Catholic.
The significance is nearly as old as the faith itself -- it is a constant reminder of what Jesus suffered for us. It was also a teaching tool to show converts (who were not literate, or where language barriers existed) in the form of paintings and sculpture -- again, the horrible death Jesus suffered for us. It's also a unifying symbol; a way to recognize a brother or sister in Christ on sight.
"Post Easter" crosses (I am assuming you mean the Risen Christ, or a plain cross) can also be worn, kept in the house, etc -- but it really is the Crucifix that reminds us of His sacrifice.
Actually Priscilla, I read last year something from the Vatican about those Risen Christ crosses, and how they shouldn't be used. It'll be an easy internet search if you are interested.

I would like to get a present for a 9 yr. old girl. Her parents divorced in August and the mother is going back to the Catholic church. The daughter is going to follow her to the Catholic faith. I want to get the little girl a present, such as jewelry. Not sure what would be good. There are tons of Saint medals but not sure what is what and which would be appropriate. Thanks for your help!
How about a nice rosary?
With love in Christ.

Isn't vanity a sin? Also, how about the suffering of poor innocent animals used to make these furs, and the poor people who risk their lives to mine the gold and diamonds to adorn their bodies??
I think it's hypocritical.
I'm Catholic so before you so called Catholics judge me, I go to church and witness this everytime. The overdone hair, makeup, jewelry. I go to church to worship, not to impress! It's not a fashion show. I dress in a respectable manner that will not call attention to me as other women choose to do. Thank you!!
LOL!! What a bunch of kooks!
They are a bunch of hypocrites - the lord says come as you are - but if i walk into a church in jeans n sneakers I get funny looks - Im not here for a FASHION SHOW - im here to praise the lord - n if he can accept me as I am - who cares what the others members think!!!
Alot of those people are old and need 2 concetrate on gettin into heaven now. Since they raised so much HELL when they where younger.....lol.
Finely detailed tiny medallion charm
great for charm bracelet, watch medal, etc
Wear on a chain or put on a charm bracelet
I'm Catholic and I want something that when people see it they'll know my faith, not for selfish purposes and hypocrisy but because I believe outward religious symbols help celebrate our faith and show it is important to us.
To the preacher, the Chick tract pusher, and the you-keep-Jesus-on-the-cross contributors: It's considered courteous here to at least thank the asker for the two points when posting a comment that doesn't even try to address the person's actual question but merely uses it as a soapbox for one's own prejudice.

And to answer the question, here's a true story:
One day last year my daughter (in her 20s) came into my home office with a frown, her Miraculous Medal in her hand. She hadn't taken it off since receiving it in RCIA. The metal had oxidized, or the plating migrated, or some such thing -- and as she is allergic to nickel, she was developing a medal-shaped rash.
I remembered a conversation we'd had at the time she got it; I had wanted to get her a small crucifix similar to mine, but she said she would prefer the medal.
"It says something about me, Mom", she had explained. "It's emphatically Catholic."
I certainly couldn't argue with that. Although not many non-Catholic Christians wear crucifixes, either, there is definitely something about wearing a MM that makes an unmistakable statement.
Just a few days later, while changing my clothes, I got a button or something caught in the chain of my crucifix and it broke.
Well, I thought, do I replace the chain? I then remembered my reasoning behind choosing such a tiny crucifix -- I hadn't wanted to appear to others, especially my evangelical relatives, to be shoving my Catholicism in their faces.
Yet here was my daughter, a brand-new Catholic that year, embracing not only the graces of that medal but also its value as a visible declaration of her love for Christ and his Blessed Mother and faithfulness to His Church.
"Be not afraid", said our dear Pope John Paul II, whose papacy began just days after this daughter was born.
I obtained another Miraculous Medal for her -- one that won't cause a rash. And I now wear one, too.

Catholic Gifts – Ideas for Baptism and More: A Guide to Religious ...
Within the Catholic Church, there are seven sacraments. While some, such as the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick, may be celebrated individually, most are community events. Family and friends often join together to commemorate occasions such as baptism, first communion and confirmation.
It is not uncommon for gifts to be bestowed upon the person receiving the sacrament. However, it can be difficult to find the perfect item to mark these important events. Below are some suggestions for Catholic gift-giving as well as unique gifts.
Catholic Baptism GiftsAt baptism, original sin is removed, and a person formally enters into the Catholic Church. Although baptism can occur at any time, most Catholic parents have their children baptized as infants. Since Catholic baby gifts are not always easy to find, many baptismal gifts are intended for either future use or as a remembrance of the day.
