catholic kids

Hey, I was wondering if the kids at Catholic schools are all proper, well-behaved virgins. Are they? I mean, since they have religion and they teach you to stay abstinent, do they?

Catholic kids come in all sorts of different types of people, same as Catholic adults. The kids' level of commitment to Catholic teaching can vary greatly.

A person of any age will only practice their religion and/or stay abstinent before marriage according to that person's individual commitment to these concepts. If they aren't very committed, they probably won't uphold them.

Regardless, *teaching* a person about a concept doesn't make them automatically committed to upholding the concept. That comes from within.

I'm going to a Catholic school for high school next year, but I've met and heard about the kids there, who are stuck up, mean, and hard to please.
okay, to the first answer- I AM CATHOLIC TOO. and I'm not stuck up either, but I'm just wondering because most of them are!

ok, this is just a generalization, but heres my 2 cents. theyre used to things being easy and handed to them. in my public high school i hear parents talking about the kids who transfered from the catholic high school: "its a lot easier there, and when you used to get good grades they slip because its so much harder here."

my cousins go to catholic schools, and they seem to have "perfect" lives. my cousin thinks that life is just perfect and doesnt understand my life, but it drives me crazy because she thinks she does understand me. another girl i kno isnt even catholic, but she goes to one. idk why but she just love attention. she complains a lot and doesnt appreciate much. again i think shes used to things being easy. and theyre both very dramatic.

like were normal i been to catholic and public schools. ive seen no difference in the kids. why do people think were so different and obedient were like any other teens! sheesh!
dpes anyone know why people view catholic school kids like this?

They think we all just sit around and pray. If it wasn't for the uniforms and the prayer during the announcements and the mandatory religion course, you would think it was a regular high school.

EDIT: About the catholic school girl thing, that's actually true for my school, or was. A few years ago, they got rid of the skirts because girls kept rolling them up. LOL

Are the children required to pray and attend religious services? Is there peer pressure on non-Catholic children to convert? Any insights would be very much appreciated.

I went to Catholic Schools for 12 years. My best friend was not Catholic. We never once talked about religion. We only cared about sports and later girls. During feast days and holy observations the entire class had to go to church the non-Catholics attended mass but didn't receive communion. Where I come from Catholics are not in the converting business I never heard a priest or nun force anyone to join the church if so their parents would have been furious and would have pulled their child out of the school. Of course everyone in our class had to take religion and theology classes so that they could move to the next grade.

I saw on Yahoo Answers, some person said that only parents who have "problem" kids, send there kids to Catholic school.

But why do people think Catholic schools are for kids with problems? There not. My Catholic high school isn't even that strict, the teachers are actually pretty nice, except for some but it's like that in any school. And I go to a BIG Catholic school, with over 1000 kids in it. I've been to public and Catholic and I find the only difference from the two, is religion class and uniforms. Other that that there are the usual preppy girls, sports jocks, emos, freaks, goths, nerds, and all that.

So I don't understand why people always make fun of us when most Catholic schools are just like public schools but with religion class and uniforms??!!??

I have gone to both, Catholic and public schools. I found that after going to Catholic school grades 1-8, by the time I reached high school (public) I was more advanced in my studies than my schoolmates who had attended only public schooling. Although I didn't like wearing the uniform and I swore if I ever had kids I would never make them wear one, now if I ever do have kids I will definitely send them to Catholic school. I think the education is better and that school uniforms aren't such a bad idea.
