Does anyone know where I can get a certificate for a marriage preparation course in SF CA? I have called every single parish in the city and no one can give me any information. Does anyone have a contact number or email I can use?
thanks.
From the Archdiocese of San Francisco's website:
For marriage preparation programs, check first with the pastor and/or the parish overseeing the couple's marriage preparation process (this parish may have its own marriage preparation program in place).
Many parishes have their engaged couples attend an Engaged Encounter weekend (see http://www.sfcee.org/).
For couples who need a one-day marriage preparation program, the following program is offered in an all-day Saturday format: http://www.sfcatholic.com/prep/

Does anyone know what happens in the marriage preparation sessions?
We are getting married in a Catholic church, we have two preparation sessions with the priest from the church.
So, I would really like to know what to expect from the sessions. And, what kind of questions the priest might ask.
Do they ask personal questions?
Please be specific and only serious answers only
Very much like a marriage couseling session; or divorce couseling. In reality though it is like reading a book about driving a car and then actually getting behind the wheel. You can talk a subject to death and know nothing real about it until you experience the reality. But, at least you know what it is you are experiencing.
A person who lost their baptism form in another religion wants to get married to a roman catholic person. How do we go about this? How long does the process take?
Is the person of a different faith and not the Catholic faith? this does matter to the question, since I didn't hear from you I found this to help you http://www.drvc.org/chancery/marriage1.h tml has a lot of information

I have to write an essay regarding marriage, but I'm not too sure about the differences between civil and catholic/religious marriage preparation. I know for religious marriage, you prepare by consulting with priests etc, but what prep is available for civil if any?

Maine organization loses CCHD funds over support for same-sex ...
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- A Maine social service center that runs an advocacy program for homeless people has been asked to return $17,400 in Catholic Campaign for Human Development funding because of its support for same-sex marriage.
Preble Street Resource Center in Portland, Maine, violated the funding contract for its Homeless Voice for Justice advocacy program by joining a 2009 campaign that urged voters to defeat a ballot measure calling for the repeal of the state's same-sex marriage law, Ralph McCloud, CCHD executive director, told Catholic News Service.
Maine voters supported the initiative in the November election, overturning a same-sex marriage law passed by the Maine Legislature in 2009.
CCHD learned about Preble Street's stance on the issue in November and followed up with an investigation, McCloud said.
...lotus tree crafts: The Catholic Marriage Preparation Course
The entire conversation about living together before marriage and the arguments that couples who live together take longer to get married and statistically are more likely to separate. I won’t go into the details (cause it would be a long rant) but suffice to say that statistics can be manipulated to prove pretty much anything and that, um hello; you’re preaching to the choir… we were all there because we’re getting married! (most of us in less than 6 weeks) The anti-abortion/birth control stance. Taking the pill isn’t an acceptable form of birth control because low grade estrogen pills essentially work by preventing an embryo from attaching to the uterus’ wall, thus technically being an abortion in the eyes of the church. I get that the church is against...
