catholic music?

I know I am probably going to get flamed at for asking but:.what do u call those catholic church music? It's kinda like an ethereal music.

Something like this:
Confiteor Deo Omnipotenti (I confess to God almighty)
Beatae Mariae semper Virgini (To blessed Mary ever Virgin)
Beato Michaeli archangelo (To the blessed archangel Michael)
Sanctis apostolis omnibus sanctis (To the holy apostles, to all the saints)

I think you have some wires crossed here, first of all the lines you have quoted are from a prayer called the `Confiteor` and they are in Latin so this is not a church hymn but spoken prayer, and I have never heard it sung in my lifetime.
There are still many Catholic churches were the sacred hymns are sung in Latin but most use English and there is a vast array of such hymns, and the early sacred music that was used in all Catholic churches is called Gregorian chant, also called plainchant or plainsong and this was always in Latin.

Gregorian (or Plain) Chant.

It is the central tradition of Western plainchant, a form of monophonic, unaccompanied sacred song of the Latin Rite (Roman) Catholic Church.

Here are some good websites about Gregorian Chant:

Are music directors of Catholic churches also ordained as priests?
DSC_4431

Are Catholic music directors forbidden to marry (as priests are)? Do Catholic churches allow women to be in charge of music ministry at university chapels or in community churches? I'm trying to compare the Catholic customs to Protestant ones. Information on Jesuit Catholicism would be especially appreciated. Thank you.

<<Are music directors of Catholic churches also ordained as priests?>>

Not necessarily. Most Catholic parishes, in amy area anyway, have lay minister music directors.

<<Are Catholic music directors forbidden to marry (as priests are)?>>

No. Music director is a lay ministry. One does not have to be ordained, and subscribe to celibacy, in order to be a music director.

<<Do Catholic churches allow women to be in charge of music ministry at university chapels or in community churches?>>

The music ministry is open to both men and women.

Where can I find good free, safe, legal Christian/Catholic music downloads?
DSC_4476

I was wondering if anyone knew some sites where good Christian/Catholic music is legally and safely available for free download in MP3 or WMA format. No, I am not a miser who won't pay, and, no, I don't want the artists to lose money, but I'm not allowed to buy things online. Thanks for your help!

SpiritAndSong.com offers about one free MP3 a month to members (membership is free): http://www.spiritandsong.com/

You can also just listen for free.

I would like to play with the church orchestra but it is a Catholic church. I am not religious but love music?
DSC_4497

Can I play with the Catholic music group at the Mass if I am not Catholic? The requirement is a good musical ability Grade 6 or better and if you enjoy the music at Mass. A friends mum said they were looking for musicians you see but | am not religious and have never been to a church service. I love to play my Clarinet and Saxophone.

It seems like an acceptable venue to play your instrument if you are interested in joining their orchestra, and they are willing to have you. I've found that as long as you don't disrespect their faith while in the church, most Catholics I know are pretty easy going about having non-believers participate with them.

I would caution you to not participate in communion during Mass if you are not a follower. That can be considered rude and insensitive.

I hope this helps.

Suicidal Laptop Takes Out Intrepid Blogger: Film at Eleven

I am so incredibly frustrated right now.  My laptop had a catastrophic crisis of faith during the Dinner Theatre and decided to commit suicide.  My son's new computer is, well, HIS, and very important to him so using that as a stop gap isn't going to work.  I bought a brand new MacBookPro which I brought home and spent two days trying to make talk to the internet at which point I took it back, paid the (no, I'm not exaggerating here) $319 "restocking" fee and still have no functional working computer of my own.
