A Catholic prayer book says we should ejaculate frequently during prayer. Is this another Catholic tradition?
Religious still life.

It just doesn't make sense and is never mentioned in the Bible,

The term "ejaculation" refers to a short prayer, and its usage predates the sexual definition of expelling semen. Generally speaking, Catholics are not as bound up about sex as are Protestants and unbelievers, and we still joke about the term.

Compiling a Catholic prayer book...?
Symbols of Christianity.

Hi everybody!
Ok,I go to a Catholic high school, & I'm thinking about doing a prayer book for a project. I was going to include traditional prayers, write my own, and ask faculty and students for submissions. Any suggestions on what else to include or resources I can use? I don't want to use copyrighted materials, but I'd like to know about any prayer books that I could use as inspiration.
Thanks & God Bless!

There are so many prayer books out there, I think you have a really good idea though about getting prayers from faculty and other students.
Maybe you could but short inspirational paragraphs about saints or religious in you community and how their prayer life has been an asset to them

It's your project have fun with it.

Is there a Catholic book of common prayer?
Catholic Child's Book About God, Illustrations by Eloise Wilkin, 1958- Cover

That has the all the common prayers said in private devotions and the masses of all the seasons? Does it have the "script" for baptisms, weddings, confirmations and all other services included? Or would the closest thing be the book of common prayer? Is there a difference?

yes there are many many many common prayer books out there. go to any catholic book store and they are sure to have at least one.

as for the second part of your question

perhaps it's a missal you are looking for ...?

they are printed out each year and contain all the reading and such that will be use at each Mass throughout the upcoming year.
again a Catholic bookstore can help you out

you also might be able to find a Church that has a little library section where all these books are available for borrowing

Vintage bible Moj Molitvennik Greek Slavonic rite

i need a prayer book containing all 2000 something catholic prayers. i found one a while ago and i can't remember the site name.

It's not that i cant pray on my own. It's just that i like to have references when i pray. i was on a site that had mostly all of them variations of the original and versions other churches say. -___-; the thing is the site caused my computer to not response on that site... (library computer) and i believe the site had the same prayers and invocations in latin as well.

i just want to end all confusion on my part. i'm tired of searching but that doesn't mean i give up. i just nee a push in the right direction.

I believe so. Check with your local parish. I just ran across an old one from that probably belonged to my grandmother. Not sure about that Saint, but again check with your local parish.

Edit: To Jacob W. Those official prayers were done so that people could take them home and use them at home. Don't need a group to say an official prayer. You are right on one thing though, it is personal and you don't really need a prayer, just talk to the saint. BUT there are those who are not comfortable with that and thus you have the "Official prayers."

  • GOOD FRIDAY – The Meaning therein…. : A Celebration of Women

, Which in the Latin Rite of the Church is understood as having only one full meal (but smaller than a regular meal – often substituting meat with fish) and two collations (a smaller repast, two of which together do not equal one full meal). In countries where Good Friday is not a day of rest from work, the afternoon liturgical service is usually put off until a few hours after the recommended time of 3 p.m. , which is often divided between more than one singer or reader. This part concludes with a series of prayers: for the Church, the Pope, the clergy and laity of the Church, those preparing for baptism, the unity of Christians, the Jewish people, those who do not believe in Christ, those who do not believe in God, those in public office, those in special need. In Polish churches, a...

I seem to be in a habit of suggesting links to other websites rather than posting anything original.  But in my defense, I must say that Bishop Peter Robinson’s short essay on Prayer Book Catholicism is excellent and educational.  Being an Englishman, Bishop Robinson is well situated to explain the largely English phenomenon of Prayer-Book Catholicism to North Americans.  Please find the essay here: http://anglicancontinuum.blogspot.com/2010/03/prayer-book-catholicism.html

For additional Anglican deliciousness from Bishop Robinson, as well as more information about the man himself, I also highly recommend his blog.  Bishop Robinson is one of a handful of clerics maintaining a strong internet witness to classical Anglicanism.  His blog can be found here:  http://theoldhighchurchman.blogspot.com/
