To all those who have been in a inter-faith marriage:
What are some ways to live in a mixed marriage without any disputes? [Especially for a couple with a Protestant and a Catholic?]
If we believe in Christ, we are ALL 'Christ'ians. I know my definitions; so thank you very much, and I don't need your help with that part.
Just try to be understanding of what your spouse believes. Catholics and Christians do fall under the same umbrella so they are not that different. Yes, the rituals are different but those can always be over looked. Just like the first lady said, agree to disagree.
The Catholic returns to discuss the end times with the Evangelical Christian.
I have been brought up as Church of England.
Now I am questioning whether catholicism or church of england is the truer religion.
Is it true the Henry the 8th invented church of england so that he could divorce his wife? If he changed the religion how can it be true?
I am not trying to start religious wars or fights on here, I am genuinly wondering.
How can I be true to a faith which has been edited, surely that would mean that catholics have it right?
Also I went to a church of england school so I haven't ever heard negative aspects of church of england and positive of catholicism.
Could someone help me out?
(I'm going to go to my local catholic church on Sunday but I would like some more understanding before I go)
I am a former Protestant, now Catholic, and I think you are on the right track.
But there is so much to learn about the Catholic faith that we cannot even start to scratch the surface on here.
I Strongly suggest you do some study at: www.Catholic.com There are many really great Protestant people and I am not going to bash them, but you are correct, how can a faith be changed to fit the needs of a political leader and still be the true faith?
Good Luck and may God Bless your Search!

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)
Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.
Do you have to be a catholic, protestant or anything or can you just be christian?
Labels don't save.
Only believing the truth about Jesus without adding any of your own works, is what saves.
Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation.
The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you will be in heaven, no matter what!
Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)
Can someone please explain to me what the difference is. Also, knowing there is some sort of difference, which read the king james version bible,or do both? forgive my ignorance!
There is no Scripture proof of any apostolic secession as popes. It is their lies. It is not in Scripture. Peter was no pope. There is no such thing in Scripture as any pope . It is a wicked devise of man. They actually came from heathen priests, which existed long before the Catholic church. That is why they wear that fish cap. It is for their fish god.
Jesus Christ told us that with his people none would rule over the others, for we are all one.
Nothing in the Catholic religion is even mentioned in Scripture. It is all heathen idol worship. Their churches are filled with ugly statues. They keep Jesus hanging on a cross all the time. They have tortured and murdered millions of Christians who would not convert to their false religion.
They brought all of the heathen, idol worship into their church and renamed them to deceive the Christians with. Better study and check up on the truth.
Now the protestants are not too much different. They follow in their footsteps. They set their pastors up in front of the other members of the church, on that same kind of special throne chair, as the popes have.
They get paid to do the work they pretend God called them to do. They go out and live in sin and pretend to be holy.
Those who received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost got closer to the real thing. But now we see them following along with all the heathen holidays and going back to the things of the world and setting their pastors up to rule over the others.
None of this is true Christianity. Jesus said we are all one...means equals.
The King James has the truth but very few study it enough to learn any of its great mysteries.

Joint Protestant-Catholic commentary on WCC document quot;Called to be ...
A joint response by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria (ELKB) and the Roman Catholic dioceses of this southern German state to the document "Called to be the One Church" was given to the general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit on 15 March in Geneva, Switzerland.
The WCC presented the document at its 9th Assembly in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2006, and called on member churches around the world to submit their responses.
Although Bavaria's two major churches have developed good relations of trust and dialogue over several decades and have kept each other informed of their ecumenical initiatives, this is the first commentary on an ecumenical document to be jointly written by Protestant and Roman Catholic theologians, said representatives of both churches while meeting at the WCC offices in Geneva.

The Island at the Center of the World
The impact the Dutch Settlement in New Netherland had on American culture today can be seen through the Dutch principles of tolerance, trade and a republican way of life. In his book, The Island at the Center of the World, Russell Shorto re-examines the history of early New York and uncovers the origins of bedrock principles Americans hold dear today, that stem directly from America’s Dutch heritage. Through newly translated documents, Shorto reveals a clearer look at life in New Amsterdam in the 17th century. Beyond the fun cultural influences such as Santa Claus, cookies and coleslaw oft attributed to the Dutch, Shorto reveals the powerful Dutch ideals long thought to originate in the British Colonies. Shorto examines the Dutch ideals of tolerance that would shape America’s First Amendment and the right to freedom of and from religion. Shorto also looks at how the ideals of Dutch free trade allowed the Island of Manhattan to prosper and grow. Shorto points out what seems the obvious after reading his book: that power rests with the people rather than with a monarch originates from the Dutch Republic and not from the British Monarchy.
