does anyone know if there are catholic scholarships offered for students...not necessarily for studying theology for I am studying psychology
not in the US coz I am studying in Poland though I am Zimbabwean
Since your in Poland that makes it kind of complicated! I know of US scholarships but those won't help you. Check with your local parish and I also recommend googling it. Check with the university you plan to attend as well. Good Luck and God Bless!

not just from the school itself, but are there essay contests, particpation grants etc for kids going to a Catholic High School?
I love to know, too. I have three in Catholic high school, and four in Catholic grade school....I'll have 4 high school students for the next 5 years.
Ask the school, they may know....there may also be Catholic businessmen who will hire your kids if they know they are helping pay their tuition.
We put in service hours to help with ours, and the scholl have arrangements with a local bank for low rate tuition loans, that really helps.

I know that there are some scholarships available for certain religions, such as those who are jewish, or muslim, or whatever else.
I'm wondering if there's anything offered for Catholic students (who plan on attending a Catholic private college...meaning EXPENSIVE!)
I'm not the greatest student, a 3.4/3.5 GPA, who takes college courses part time in high school.
I just need to find some sort of scholarship out there.. :/
Every Catholic college I know of in Minnesota offer scholarships for being Catholic or having a 3.5+GPA. A 3.4/3.5 sounds like a good GPA to me, you should be able to find plenty of scholarships.
I found that the best way to get scholarships/financial aid is by going to the college and talking with admissions counselors, department chairs, and professors in person. Those connections almost always end up being the most valuable. If you can't find what you're looking for there then resort to the financial aid office at your school and fastweb.com.

For high school scholarships, the best place to look is generally at the school itself. Nearly all offer some sort of financial aid or scholarships to their students. Here are some such schools. Alternatively, you can write or email your local diocese to ask if they give scholarships to Catholic high school students or know of any organization that does.

...Restoring missions seen as sign of church#39;s dedication to ...
By Catholic News Service
SAN ANTONIO (CNS) — Restoration of the Spanish missions in the San Antonio Archdiocese is evidence of the Catholic Church’s long-standing dedication to the people of the community, said Archbishop Jose H. Gomez.
He said the archdiocese “remains committed to ensuring that they will also be an important part of its future.”
The San Antonio archbishop made the comments at a press conference that was held as events got under way to celebrate the rededication of Mission Concepcion, founded in 1731 by Franciscan missionaries from Mexico, which had been closed for six months for renovations.
The church has been described as the oldest “unrebuilt” stone church in the United States. Constructed on bedrock, the church never collapsed as did other missions in the 19th century. In its early years, more than 200 American Indians lived within the mission’s compound walls.
