I think it's more the idea. A catholic school girl is the vision of young innocence and proper upbringing. The uniform reflects this.
It's the idea of corrupting that innocence and introducing innocence to a darker more sultry place that seems sexy.
My parents are considering a catholic high school for me next year.
The uniform is an ugly elementary-school style plaid jumper dress above the knee; a button up blouse, cross tie, white nylon knee socks and saddle shoes.
They don't wear pants, tights, or nylons.
In the fall and winters we see these girls at bus stops FREEZING in their outfits.
Is there a particular reason catholic schools implement these uniforms for girls? And why-o-why nylon KNEE SOCKS???
I go to a catholic girls school. my uniform is a skirt and polo shirt, so it gets cold. I also take the bus, and bc I have to walk my sister to the bus first I get there really early. I wear pants under my skirt with boots (I have fake uggs) and its probably warmer than wearing jeans. Get a really warm coat, and get some cute gloves, scarf, and hat. You'll survive the winter, I promise!

Fundraiser charged in Mass. Catholic school ruse - KTIV ...

BOSTON (AP) - For the Venerini Sisters, it seemed like the answer to their prayers: An anonymous donor, lined up by a professional fundraiser, willing to give at least $3 million to finance an expansion of a private school run by the order of Roman Catholic nuns.
The would-be benefactor, known only by his first name of Arthur, chatted amiably on the telephone with school administrators. And although no money exchanged hands, trust - or perhaps naivete - led the nuns to hire a general contractor and begin construction on the project at the Venerini Academy in Worcester. The work would stop months later when it become clear there was no money - and no Arthur, Attorney General Martha Coakley said.
"It was an extraordinary story of faith ... without much to back it up," Coakley said Thursday in announcing the arrest of the fundraiser, Michael Hlady, of Greenville, R.I.

ANYWAY, the thing about Catholic School was the unending guilt. OH THE GUILT. The nuns, beeshes that they were, prided themselves on making us feel as craptacular as possible, about EVERYTHING, from wearing our skirts too short to not doing well on a Geometry test (I still hate you, Sr. Dolores.) So for me, in the throes of undiagnosed bipolar, and for a number of other girls, who, in adulthood and the time of Facebook, have reached out to me and told me that they had similar stories, life was pretty miserable. I hated school. I hated how stupid it made me feel. I was, and always have been, an excellent student (with minimal effort, which also makes me a bitch, according to my mom) but I had no idea whatsoever that I was a good student until college. Catholic school made me feel stupid. There was no encouragement, no compliments, hell, the "guidance counselor" didn't even know my name.
