If he were invited, he would be invited as the pope. There's no reason for him not to dress like the pope if/when visiting a country like Saudi Arabia,

The pope in addition to being the head of the Church on earth is also a head of state. So he would have diplomatic immunity. Diplomatic immunity has nothing to do with the pope wearing his vestments.

I'm not even of a religion, but I don't think that the biblical Jesus would go around in such rich, expensive clothing, nor would he wave to people from a palace balcony.
So why does the "Vicar of Christ" and his top officials live such in such a material way?
Why don't they leave St. Peter's, put on common-folk clothes, and get around to missionizing?
The colors of the vestments worn by the catholic clergy are symbolic of the day and vary. Green during ordinary time, purple for lent and advent (except for Gaudete Sunday where rose colored vestments are worn), red during feast days of martyrs, gold &/or white are worn during Easter and Christmas. This is all tradition and respect.
It would be nice if people didn't judge Catholic Christians without first knowing of what they speak.
