So originally I was planning with my fiancé to not have any readings at my wedding in a Catholic church, but after some thought I think I may want to have some! I don't want the readings to be too religious, I'd like them to focus more on our love and about our bond. I don't want readings that everyone has heard a million times either. Any suggestions?

Violet and Phil Bird#39;s Ukrainian Catholic wedding in Vernon BC, October 2, 2010: Part 3, Crowning and Readings
Hey there my 2 brothers will be lovingly doing 2 readings at my wedding but i'm a loss as to what I should choose for them. I would really appreciate any help in this 1 folks as I haven't a clue!! Thanks very much! x
Gen 2:24, 1 Cor 6:16, Eph 5:31, discuss purpose of marriage.
John Chapter 2 is special because it discusses Jesus' first miracle which he specifically did at a wedding.
I had the Song of Songs (Song of Solomon) read at my wedding.
Another thought, are you doing a Unity Candle? We did it in reverse. We had the large one candle lit. We then lit our two candles from that one. We recieved prayer holding the candles. During our vows, our best man and maid of honor took them. They then lit candles that the bridal party had and then passed the light onto the candles everyone was holding. So the whole church was lit by candle light. I think that's a better way to unify two families.
But hey, I'm a hopeless romantic.
We are having a full Catholic Mass and we are having a Celtic theme to it all. Any suggestions for readings and hymns and psalms to be sung or read at the wedding? Thank you!

Hello, i'm having a bilingual catholic ceremony so the first reading is in english and the other two in spanish. My fiance's best-man wants to rehearse the reading beforehand. do you know what they are?
Since it is a catholic wedding, the parish you are getting married at should give you a ceremony planning booklet. The booklet lists the different readings you can pick from, as well as the vows and exchange of rings.
In addition to the 1st reading and 2nd reading, there is also a Gospel reading which is done by the priest, then prayers of the failthful which is done by someone you choose. It would probably be best to do the prayers of the faithful half in english and half in spanish since the people need to respond "Lord here our prayer".
All of these can be found in the booklet.
If the booklet is only in english I am sure you can translate it into spanish, or find a spanish bible and look up thechapter and verse and copy it from there.
Good luck!

Question about Wedding Music? :Wedding Questions.net
Here Comes the Bride is not set in stone, even in a Catholic church. I believe there are restrictions on some kinds of secular music, but even Here Comes the Bride is actually a secular tune, since it was written for Richard Wagner’s opera Lohengrin. The most commonly used music for the recessional also comes from an opera, Mendelsohn’s opera of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Both were written late in the nineteenth century, and thus are not that long-standing as traditions go.
But there are many churches that allow a wider selection of secular music, and many couples who are not marrying in a church, or even using a clergyperson.
So, yes, there are a lot of brides walking up the aisle to something other than Wagner. Me? I was lead up the aisle by a bagpiper who played a lovely traditional Scottish tune called Highland Wedding. Pachelbel’s Canon in D has been a very popular tune for wedding processionals for the last thirty or forty years. JS Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, and Purcell’s Trumpet Voluntary are also popular, as are a wide variety of hymns and classical pieces.
...One-year anniversary, eight weeks early « Notes from the Fatty File
By Muriel Barbery. I just finished it this week and I (almost) shed a tear for the trees that died to make it. How the heck was this book an international best seller?
The weekend trip means I won’t be doing my weekly weigh-in on Saturday. I will be weighing in on the following Saturday, though, and will faithfully report back. Also, this trip means I’m going to be eating celebratory food. It’s my (faux) anniversary. I will make smart choices, but I will eat dessert.
Newlyweds, how did you/how are you celebrating your wedding anniversaries?
