What's the difference between Christian-Catholic and Roman Catholic?

I've heard of Roman Catholic before and I am Catholic. So I'm wondering what the difference between those two are?

A Roman Catholic is a person that belongs to the Catholic Church of Rome. Nearly every American Catholic is a Roman Catholic.

An Eastern Catholic is someone that belongs to one of the autonomous Eastern Catholic churches; they are found mostly (you guessed it) east of Rome.

All Catholics are Christians.

What is the difference between Christian, Catholic, and Catholic- Christian?

I am just wondering what is the difference between all of these.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

Whats the difference between Christian,Catholic, and Jewish?

Most people say that Catholic are Christian but what makes them two different religion. And is the bible the same for catholic and christian?

This is not a complete answer, but I think it serves to show the fundamental difference.

All three religions have their roots in the Christian Old Testament, also called the Torah by the Jews. The Torah tells the story of creation and of God's chosen people, the Jews. The Torah speaks of a Messiah to come. Those who hold to Judaism are still waiting for that Messiah. All three religions hold to the Torah as being the word of God.

Catholics and Christians believe that the man, Jesus Christ, was the Messiah the Jews were looking for. Both groups hold to Jesus being the Messiah, or Savior. They also both believe that the New Testament books are additional words of God, making the Bible a comprehensive revelation of God.

The main difference between Catholics and Christians is in the way they handle the Bible and the history and traditions of the church.

Christians, starting with the Reformation in the 16th century, have held that the Bible is God's *complete* revelation, that no one can add to it or take from it. They also hold to salvation (getting to heaven) through Jesus alone, by faith alone, through grace alone. They believe that salvation cannot be earned. They believe that salvation is a personal transaction that takes place between the individual and Jesus.

The Catholics, in contrast, believe that the complete revelation of God *includes* the infallible history and traditions of the church. They see the pronouncements of the Pope, for example, as having equal weight with the Bible. They also believe that individuals need the church - through the sacraments - for salvation. It isn't Jesus alone or faith alone, but a combination of these things and the works that we do via the sacraments.

There are many fine points of distinction, but I believe that this is a reasonable summary.

What's the difference between catholic and christian?

I've been wondering this since like..........FOREVER.......!!
and im a christian, but what's the big difference between catholic?
and what exactly is a catholic church? lol...

Catholics are Christians.

Catholicism is one of the many different sects of Christianity. Other examples would include Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Baptists, Mormons, and so on.

What's the difference between catholic, christian, and a protest?

Also what is a baptist? I want to know what everything is.

By protest I think you mean protestant.
The difference between a catholic and a protestant (both are Christians) is that catholics follow the pope, who has said in the past that whoever is in the papacy is infallible - protestants reject that, believing that God alone is infallible. Catholics pray to saints and mary the mother of Jesus, asking them to pray for them, for help/guidance. Protestants only pray to God, like Jesus did. Protestants usually have much less liturgy in their services and do not confess their sins to priests/pastors. Aside from anglicans, protestants do not use any form of a rosary. Again, aside from anglicans, protestants don't have religious orders (nuns/monks).
There are some christians who say that catholics are not christian. They say that because a lot of christians are offended and strongly disagree with the position that is given to mary the mother of Jesus by catholics and some other saints. I myself do not agree with praying to a saint or to mary, saying hail mary, or anything of the sort that puts her on the same level of God. But the Bible is not clear about whether or not a person who is in heaven can or can not petition God on our behalf. It doesn't say anything about that. But even so, christians who say that catholics are not christian are simply wrong. Catholics do believe that Jesus is the Son of God, they believe in his death and resurrection to save us from our sins and most catholics strive to be like Jesus, to walk in his way - and that is exactly what a christian is/does. Yes, there are flaws in catholicism, but there are also flaws in the protestant churches.
Baptist is a term describing individuals belonging to a Baptist church or a Baptist denomination. The name is derived from a conviction that followers of Jesus Christ are commanded to be baptized (by being immersed in water) as a public display of their faith. Baptists reject infant baptism, believing only in believers baptism. They are usually fairly conservative.

Many Americans find it difficult to understand why Jews on the Left – including many who would call themselves “liberal” rather than “Left” – continued to enthusiastically support President Obama after the revelations about the anti-Israel and anti-Jewish views of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the religious mentor and close friend of Obama. This confusion is all the greater now that Obama has humiliated the prime minister of Israel and created the most tense moment in American-Israel relations in memory.

Likewise, many Americans wonder how Democratic congressmen who claim to be faithful Catholics and are pro-life could vote for the health-care bill that allows for federal funding of abortions – after opposing it up to the last day. Leftism, though secular, must be understood as a religion (which is why I have begun capitalizing it). The Leftist value system’s hold on its adherents is as strong as the hold Christianity, Judaism and Islam have on their adherents. Nancy Pelosi’s belief in expanding the government’s role in American life, and therefore her passion for the health-care bill, is as strong as a pro-life Christian’s belief in the sanctity of the life of the unborn.

What is the difference between Protestant Christian and Catholic?

Catholicism is not Christian. Catholicism leads to eternal torment in hell, because catholicism teaches works for salvation, and that is a false gospel of works (Galatians 1:6-9).

It’s clear from the Book of Acts in the Bible that catholics didn’t even exist during the days of Acts. Those in the Book of Acts are the first Christians, and they believed what would be called fundamentalist doctrine today. ANYONE can read the Book of Acts for themselves and see. Had catholicism existed during the time of Acts, the first Christians would have rejected catholicism completely.

Also here’s Christians that called the “pope” the antichrist, and who also completely rejected catholicism, long before Martin Luther was even born:
