I have found lots of information regarding RCIC and CCD, but RCIC is for children who have reached the age of reason (7/8 years) and CCD is typically for children who are not receiving religious education at school.
My child attends a Catholic School, as did I, however, is not baptized Catholic, nor am I. We were both baptized in The Holy Trinity at a non-denominational church. My husband is a baptized Episcopal.
I would imagine that my child's schooling would take the place of CCD and his age would not allow him to attend RCIC. How then do I go about having him accepted into the Catholic Church so that he can make his First Communion and begin receiving the Holy Eucharist there? Our catholic education has taught us to believe in transubstination and we attend Mass one Sunday per month. We visit an Episcopalian church one Sunday per month and the non-denominational church one-two Sundays per month.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated so very much.
Thankyou.
Catholic school does take the place of CCD, however, there are some problems. First, you should be taking your child to a Roman Catholic Mass EVERY Sunday if you want him to go through the Sacraments. He has to have 2 years of Catholic Religious Education before receive Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, and this usually happens in 2nd grade. You should speak to the school to find out exactly when he should start preparation classes for this specific Sacrament.
Most importantly though, take him to Mass every week. And if you feel that it is important for him, you must also believe it is important for yourself. Have you considered going through RCIA yourself?

My great grandparents went to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church my dad said it was a catholic church but wouldnt it be a lutheran church? what are the differences anyway. I went to sunday school as a child to a church that was down the street and that bible camp they had in summers to a chruch a few miles away, I stopped going because my parent were to lazy to drop me off and pick me up. I want to start going to a church again but I want to go a catholic one but I dont know what it will be like since I never been to one.

Some one said I shouldn't have taken communion because I wasn't part of the church, why is this??
Am I not a christian, do I not believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, do I not pray to Him only, was I not raised in the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Did not Paul say all who believe are saints of God, did not Paul say our epistles are written in our hearts??
So why shoud I, a son of God, not taken communion in the catholic church?
well I didn't know it was tradition, because in protestant churches, anyone can take the communion. :)
because the catholic church has their own rules and guidelines you must abide by.
I have just moved to a new town and am hoping to find a church to go to. I grew up in a city where I went to the same Vietnamese Catholic church my entire life. In searching for churches online, I've come upon many churches in the area that are called (for instance): Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Juan Diego Parish. My question is: If a church labels themselves "Catholic", does this mean they are all the same? What is the difference between a "Catholic church" and a "Catholic Parish"? I don't want to accidentally go to a different-religion church. How do I choose a Catholic church that best resembles my former church and beliefs?
Check out if the parish or church is in the diocesan Catholic directory.
Many groups that use the word catholic in their titles are not in communion with the Pope of Rome nor teach according to the doctrines and morals the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church of the Papal Communion.
A parish is a local subset of a diocese, the regional church for Catholics.

since the other churches were founded by men and later after the reform and stuff like that.. it makes me think.. they forgot the creation of the Canon of the NT with the catholic councils.. I have seen those churches called protestants or evangelics take sometimes some catholic theology and mentio fathers like saint augustine to explain the holy trinity why is that? I thought evangelics hate catholicism.
No. The Roman Catholic Church is THE ONLY CHRISTIAN CHURCH. Your historical references are accurate, but the non-Catholics don't want to deal with it. I have a really good book about the Bible and Catholic Church, entitled "Where We Got The Bible: Our Debt To The Catholic Church" by a former presbyterian minister, Henry G. Graham, who, at the age of 29, in 1903 I believe, converted to the Roman Catholic Church and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1906. Between 1908 and 1909, he developed a series of lectures which appeared in the Catholic Press, and in 1911 came together as the book I've cited above. He not only tells in some detail of how the Bible, as he says, is a Catholic book, he also details the errant history of all the other bibles, individually and collectively. He also details his development from the presbyterian church to the Roman Catholic Priesthood, along with several of his friends. The whole book is only 170 pages long, and very well written, and can be bought through "Catholic Answers" at 1-888-291-8000 or www.catholic.com. You'll really enjoy it. God Bless you.

The Renovation Committee of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Westminster, Colorado has been charged with wisely applying a generous donation to the remodeling of our church building. We had hoped to complete this project by the 50th anniversary of our building's dedication in November 2009, but we are now praying for completion by early May 2010.
