Where was the first Catholic mass held in Salt Lake.?

Who sang the mass?

I'm not sure where it was held or who sang it. The first two catholic churches weren't completed until 1905 (Greek orthodox trinity church) and 1909 (cathedral of the Madeline). I'm sure the members were meeting elsewhere before those buildings were completed but they had no formal place of worship as far as I can tell. Cathedral of the Madeline was commissioned by Utah's first Catholic Bishop and they do tours. They may have more info for you.

Is my Catholic boss going to get catapulted into the burning lake of fire for getting a vasectomy?

This is a pretty good summary of what he has preached to me at work...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0kJHQpvg B8&feature=related
I've been listening to this for a couple of years and he recently told me that he had a vasectomy almost ten years ago.
I know for a fact that he is a horny bastard and is not practicing abstinence with his wife. All the guy ever talks about is sex.
For the record I'm elated that he got a vasectomy.
Would someone please explain to me why he would risk his eternal soul and not allow his little wigglies to make more Catholics?

So many Catholics believe that the teachings of the Church and God are up for personal scrutiny, and a matter of opinion. When in fact, they are not. Does it mean he'll go to hell...only God knows that answer to that. It certainly means he puts his soul in danger by disregarding God's Church on this.

Many Catholics are ill-prepared to be true Catholics, some were raised in homes that didn't live the Catholic faith or even understand it. I have "Catholic" friends who use birth control, skip mass on Sunday regularly, are pro-choice, and never go to confession...and yet they receive the Eucharist and call themselves Catholic. They are cultural Catholics, those baptized into the faith but have no idea what it is about. It's sad. Hopefully your boss will one day stop putting himself first and allow God to lead him.

ADDED: Doug, yes if he made a good confession he'd be okay, emphasis on "good." A Catholic cannot just go to confession and then go on doing as he/she pleases. According to the asker, this man is not sorry he got a vasectomy. He would have to understand the grave sin it is and be contrite in order to make a good confession about it. I say this for the benefit of the non-Catholics who believe that Catholics can just go to confession and then sin some more. That is not the practice or the point.

Catholic People can you ask your Fathers (priests) to move your Lake some where?

Does your Priests have those kind of power?
If they don't then why did the Bible said Matthew 23:9 And don't call any person on earth 'Father,' because you have one Father, who is in heaven. (NCV)

Psalms 89:26 He himself calls out to me ' You are my Father, My God and the Rock of my salvation.'

Matthew 4:3 The devil came to Jesus to tempt him, saying, "If you are the Son of God, tell these rocks to become bread."

So can your Priests change the rocks to become bread.?

I wonder why do you have to call your Priest "Father?"

I would like to hear from you

I used to be a Catholic...now a Jehovah's Witness.

I can tell what I know.

The priests represent Christ and since Christ is our Eternal Father they wish to be called father.
But they have not read in the bible where no man is to be called father on earth......in a spiritual way...your fleshly father is different.....God says to honor your father and your mother.

The nuns all wear wedding rings because they feel they are married to Christ. Christ never married...and he would never go against God and marry more than one wife...and there is no marriage in heaven and there is no sex in heaven as there are no fleshly bodies.

What Christ did set up in the first congregation was a governing body with elders taking care of the flock...but they were all to call each other Brother.

So if you are a Catholic please take warning....the church is going to crumble...It has been foretold that first the governments will turn on religions and then at Armageddon not a stone will be left upon a stone.

God is not with the Catholics.

Please talk to Jehovah's Witnesses....the only pure faith that God is backing.

  • Railroaders run over Lake Catholic: High school roundup ...

    Talk about a second-half turnaround.

Collinwood trailed Lake Catholic at the half, 26-15, but the Railroaders had 28 points in both the third and fourth quarters to storm past the Cougars, 71-66, Wednesday and into an all-Senate Athletic League district final at Lakeland Community College.

After making just six of 26 field-goal attempts and one of four free throws in the first half, Collinwood was 21-of-25 from the field and 14-of-23 at the line in the second half.

Senior center Tiran Goins scored 14 of his 22 in the third quarter to spark the comeback. Forward Gary Little had 21 points, and guard Brandon Stovall had 11 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Senior Dylan O'Donnell's 20 points led Lake Catholic (16-6).

Collinwood (15-6) plays East Tech in Saturday's Division II district final.

Holocaust survivor to speak at LTCC | Lake Tahoe News

The American Association of University Women and Lake Tahoe Community College Library present author and Holocaust survivor Paul Schwarzbart on April 10 at 10am in the Aspen Room.

Schwarzbart survived the Holocaust as one of the so-called “Hidden Children.” As a boy growing up in Belgium, he escaped the concentration camps by taking on a new identity and hiding out at a Catholic school.

By pretending to be a Catholic schoolboy, his life was spared. But the pain and loneliness of living under a false identity, and not knowing what had happened to his parents, took its toll.

Schwarzbart wrote about his experiences in his heartbreaking, yet hope-filled book, “Breaking the Silence: Reminiscences of a Hidden Child.”

A movie detailing his life will be shown as well, and light refreshments will be served.
