What do you think about the Roman Catholic Archdiocese ?
My meeting with the Swiss Cardinal Dr. Kurt Koch (President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity) November,9th,2011,Stuttgart,Germany

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles will settle its clergy abuse cases for at least $600 million.
I can't understand why this is such a stay away from subject. This Priest molesting children subject seems to be treated by the public the same as it was treated by the Church. Do people understand the Church knew about the priest molesting children. And the way they dealt with it was to transfer the priest to a different Church. Most of the Priest are still out there.

I think the Roman Catholic church is in the midst of self destruction. In the last year the pope has almost started a holy war with Islam, called all other forms of Christianity false religions, protected pedophiles, and come up with "The Ten Commandments of Driving"!

Real lack of intelligence at the abby lately!!!

I think the pope is insane!

Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles will pay $660 million in lawsuit settlements.?
My meeting with archbishop Dr.Robert Zollitsch (archdiocese Freiburg), November, 9th,2011, Stuttgart, Germany

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles will pay $660 million in lawsuit settlements to almost 500 people who were allegedly abused by clergy affiliated with the diocese.

How could God allow this to happen in a place of woship? What are your opinions on this with regards to placing your trust in your church?

God can't change the actions of an evil person. He can't reach down and hit the person on the head and say, "don't do that." The evil person does what he wants to do.

As for these evil priests, they were doing something they wanted to do and didn't care that they were destroying innocent lives. God had no control over them. They were not acting as God's representative. Anyone that purposely hurts a child, especially to satisfy their own pleasure, is pure evil!

Personally, I think Cardinal Mahoney also not been acting as "God's Representative" in this area. He has allowed this abuse to continue for many years. He seems to care more about the reputation of his church than for the innocent children that were molested.

I probably shouldn't express my opinion on this since I'm not Catholic. I just feel really bad for the children that were molested.

If this had happened in my church, I would have a hard time trusting anyone. However, I have heard of rare cases where inappropriate things happened. The individuals were dealt with swiftly and were turned over to the police.

I think that's what should have been done to these evil priests.

To settle it...keeps it out of court. Therefore, there is not "official record" and they are not admitting guilt. It's all just a big coverup if you ask me.

Is The Roman Catholic Sex Abuse Crisis Really As Small As We Thought?
Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore

The Roman Catholic ArchDiocese of L.A. has announced they are paying out 600 million dollars to settle 500 sex abuse cases. 500 in L.A. alone. They payed out over 2 billion dollars in sex abuse cases since 1950. It's not as rare as we were led to believe. It's not only one rogue priest porking an altar boy in the ass here and there; it's way more widespread. They ask for donations from parishioners like mobsters to help pay for this. The church has a shit load of money. Some of the money is paid for by insurance policies. For what; in case a sex abuse case 'accidentally' happens? They are ready in case people come forward ready to sue.

You got some dirty old men as priests. i bet this comes from the fact they don't allow marriage. This shows the prime example of the Roman Catholic Church as a religion in action.

The really disgusting thing about this horror show is not even that these horrible abuses of power occurred but the fact that it has been shown that bishops and church leaders knew these things were occurring and did nothing to stop them except move these priests around to new hunting grounds.

The out right complicity and negligence of these acts is what is really appalling and shows the real corruption of the Roman Catholic Church.

What makes an area an Archdiocese, instead of just a Diocese? (roman catholic church)?
Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore

*Is Catholic*

Archdiocese are roughly the equivelent of Eastern Metropolitan Sees. They are elevated to Archdiocese based on history, size, and importance. The Archbishop / Metropolitan has some authority over the diocese in his area as other people have mentioned.

  • Roman Catholic Archbishop “sees” logic behind condom use | Human ...

The influence of the Roman Catholic church is quickly waning throughout most of Europe. Already, for the most part, secular…the recent scandals of sexual abuse…let’s call it what it is - child rape - has further alienated the Vatican from the very ordinary lives of the common citizen.

The Church has for the past several generations gained influence in areas of the world where poverty is extreme.  And now, for a senior Vatican clergy to soften the position on condoms is hopefully indicative of a fundamental policy change.  T he Roman Catholic Archbishop of Westminster sees the “attraction” of distributing condoms to help alleviate poverty and the rising population rates in third world countries.
