It's the one on the alter that the priest uses. Also are their any other books used within the roman catholic church that has special prayers, beatitudes and other information?

breviary -a small daily prayer book (usually protected within a black zipped-leather jacket) every priest and seminarian has one.. sometimes called: the liturgy of the hours.
"oremus" -a prayer/songbook used in church mass
with the latin all-time hits:
-gloria in excelsis deo

You'd need to order it from the USCCB Press (www.usccb.org).
But what you'd more likely want to order is the Ritual Sacramentary, which is updated and easier to use.

Hi I have to do a Sociology project on the Roman Catholic Church.
Can someone give me a book that will more or less tell me the extent, spread, changes and recent and future trends of the RCC?
I need to give this in within a day so...
Edit:Panama Joe,
I wouldnt be asking this question if I already hadnt tried researching.
The Catholic Encyclopedia will tell you everything you need to know - at least, from the point of view of the Roman Catholic Church.
It's available online.
I'm Roman Catholic. And I want to know what the Catholic Book of Revelation says or what it predicts. I'm really interested in knowing.
I know that it differs from the Christian's with the Rapture and all.
But I want to know is there a website to read the Book of Revelation and how we predict the End Times will be.
Or if someone can just tell me.
How is it that you do not have a Douay-Rheims?
The Protestants have perverted the texts using over 120 poorly trained translators prior to 1611, their first printed version.
The Douay is exactly the same as St. Jerome translated it. Only English becomes perverted. Latin stays the same. It is called the Apocalypse in the correct term. You cannot find it under the Protestant term. You need the whole thing to see the difficulty. The loss of ten verses at the end if also significant.
I don't own the History alive book. How can I possibly know this?
But I'm guessing Israel, Palestine, uh.... the Red Sea ... oh and Egypt.

Irish Genealogy: Help! The Faery Folk Hid My Ancestors!: THE ...
By James G. Ryan. This is a big, heavy tome, but it is worth 100 times over its weight in research value. Ryan's book is especially helpful to those searching records of Church of Ireland and Protestant denominations, along with Roman Catholic records. The print is large, and his layout is very easy to follow and search. The layout is very "visual" and organized. It is a wonderful county by county guide of what records of all sorts are available in Ireland, and of where those records can be found. When I travel to Ireland to research, I leave these two books home. First, I would not want to lose them. Second, they add to the luggage weight. Instead, I copy the pages relevant to the area I am researching. When my trip is done, I throw out the pages,...
Book Reviews: Books on the Roman Catholic Popes, Papacy, and Papal ...
Who or what is the pope? The title pope stems from the Greek word papas, which simply means 'father.' Early in Christian history it was used as a formal title expressing affectionate respect for any bishop and sometimes even priests. Today it is best known as the title of the leader of the Catholic Church. The pope is the symbol of Catholicism itself, so there are many books dealing with popes' actions, beliefs, and leadership. Reviewed here are books on these questions.
