I LOVE THAT HYMN!
Traditional Roman Catholic hymn, honouring Our Lord as King of King and Lord of Lords.
As a child it was my 90 yr old dad' favourite - The Bells of the Angelus. I am 60 and I too learned it at school. It is the same tune as the hymn we know now as Immaculate Mary I have searched loads of web site but nothing.. Under is the first few lines. Hope it can jog someone's memory. Thank you.
The Bells of the Angelus - are calling us to pray
In sweet tones announcing the sacred Ave -
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria(repeat)
It's called Bells of the Angelus.
The bells of the Angelus, Call us to pray.
In sweet tones announcing the sacred Ave
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
An angel of mercy, led Bernadette's feet,
Where flows the deep torrent, Our Lady to greet.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Immaculate Mary, Our hearts are all thine.
Protect us, your children, Who kneel at thy shrine.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
I was wondering, what hymn, song, or musical piece do you think is most precious to us Roman Catholics?
I personally love Schubert's Ave Maria, taken from the Bible. The music is beautiful, and the words remind me of the precious gift of Christ, the sacred 'yes,' of his mother, and my own duty as a Christian.
If I had to chose the one song most precious to the Catholic spirit, however, I would suggest the simple Alleluia. A shout of joy and praise to God, it is practically the same in all languages. It is at the very heart of our religion.
Just wondering if the lyrics are wedding appropriate enough... this hymn has always been one of my favourites!
I think so. That's always been one of my favourite hymns. I hear that Josh Groban sings a version, & his voice is just beautiful. Perfect for a wedding?
I love the hymns that are played in church(Roman Catholic). I would like to have a copy of them with me so that I can listen to them often whenever I'm alone or free. Can someone give me link from where I can download these or any album you are aware of. Some of the songs I like are
1. Maranatha
2. All over the world
3. Walking with the lord
4. Glory Glory Sing Glory to God
5. He brought me to his banqueting table
Thanks all for your help. May God bless you all!

Question about Wedding Music? :Wedding Questions.net
Here Comes the Bride is not set in stone, even in a Catholic church. I believe there are restrictions on some kinds of secular music, but even Here Comes the Bride is actually a secular tune, since it was written for Richard Wagner’s opera Lohengrin. The most commonly used music for the recessional also comes from an opera, Mendelsohn’s opera of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Both were written late in the nineteenth century, and thus are not that long-standing as traditions go.
But there are many churches that allow a wider selection of secular music, and many couples who are not marrying in a church, or even using a clergyperson.
So, yes, there are a lot of brides walking up the aisle to something other than Wagner. Me? I was lead up the aisle by a bagpiper who played a lovely traditional Scottish tune called Highland Wedding. Pachelbel’s Canon in D has been a very popular tune for wedding processionals for the last thirty or forty years. JS Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, and Purcell’s Trumpet Voluntary are also popular, as are a wide variety of hymns and classical pieces.
...Episcopal Church (USA), Roman Catholic amp; Lutheran Service ...
Quite some time ago, a friend asked me what the differences were between a Roman Catholic and Episcopal service. After explaining, she mentioned that she thought that would be an interesting FAQ answer to add. After recently acquiring a Lutheran Book of Worship, I decided to include the LBW Eucharist service in the comparison, too. In the Episcopal Church, the service may include traditional language (Rite 1) or modern (Rite 2, used more commonly).
Introductory Rites Episcopal Optional Penitential Order-Hymn; Greeting; optional Decalogue; words of assurance from Scripture; general Confession & absolution; continues with Gloria/Kyries/Trisagion. When no penitential order is used-hymn; greeting; Gloria, Kyries, or Trisagion (in Rite I, the Kyrie is...
