Well I was asked this question alot recently and I always answer that some other religion actually abide by them. But I just want to be more sure then I am now.
So tell me, is it a sin to permently tattoo our bodies in the Roman Catholic religion?
Hello,
I have never heard that at all; just heard it was sinful to mutilate yourself like cutting off your ears or nose etc.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly
The purpose of this video is to help Protestant Christians and others develop a better understanding of the Roman Catholic Church, its history and ...
Especially when it was the Romans who had Jesus killed. What would they know about preaching of Jesus when they were his persecutors? I don't care if they were supposedly converted. That doesn't take away what they did. The ultimate biblical crime and they were responsible for it.
Let's not forget that their messiah was also a judean jew. Nowhere did he say he was a catholic. So how can you say yours is the correct one?
Huh? Do you really not know the difference between the Roman empire and the Catholic Church. Did you never study any history of the Roman Empire or the Church?
It was the Roman Empire that crucified our Lord. It was not His Church that killed Him. Jesus' Church NEVER persecuted Him but remained faithful to His teachings. When Jesus was crucified the Church had not even formed. It formed at Pentecost and the Catholic Church were those persecuted and not those doing the persecution. How did you get so confused. Perhaps you are the victim of a false teacher or at best an ignorant one. God bless!

Is this why King Henry VII split from the Roman Catholic church to start the Anglican church? Did all the main leaders of England..i.e Chancellor etc need to be in agreement for the King to get the divorce?
First, it was Henry VIII (8th) not VII (7th).
Second, don't listen to have the people who comment on Yahoo Answers (like Anna) as they know as much (or less) about this than you do. I'm not picking on anyone, least of all you, just stating a fact.
No pope has ever, or will ever, grant a divorce because Jesus Christ made it clear that He was against divorce when He said "What God has joined, let no man divide."
Henry VIII first wanted an annulment and tried to state that he should have never been allowed to marry Catharine in the first place (Catharine being his brother's widow). However, The Church wouldn't allow the annulment for the very fact that Henry fought so hard for the right to marry Catharine (his brother's widow).
To the point, Henry changed his tune when the syphilitic king spread the disease to his wife can caused her to miscarry. So he wanted a new wife, because he was a terrible womaniser, and he wanted a male heir. Since the Church wouldn't grant his annulment, he decided to make his own church and said that the current English monarch should rule over the English bishops.

This trend has been documented by figures. I heard that it was pointed out on a local radio program and it has not escaped my personal observation as well. It appears that when Mormon missionaries are sent out, Roman Catholics in particular are targeted, although, of course, the Mormon proselytizers would be pleased to get as many others as possible regardless of background. What do you feel could be the reason behind this selective recruitment?
I don't have any statistics to offer, but suppose the Church has some available. A few years ago it was expected that the most common language spoken among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would soon be, if not already, Spanish. The Church has experienced tremendous growth in Mexico, also Central and South America, where the same people who speak Spanish are also commonly Catholic. So a high percentage of our converts there are going to come from the ranks of the Catholic Church, tilting the percentage of total converts to the Church toward that end of the spectrum. There is no intentional targeting of Catholics as such by our missionaries; it is just that in some areas of the world they are the ones most available to teach. In those areas just mentioned, Spanish-speaking Catholics also realize the Book of Mormon is published as the sacred history of their own ancestors; they often recognize parallels in this scriptural history with the traditions of their own native peoples from before the time of the Spanish conquest of the Americas. That may not be a common recognition after centuries of their generations being taught Catholicism, but there are instances where those closer to their native roots have recognized the teachings of the Book of Mormon are in line with their own oral traditions. The Spaniards used the native traditions of a great, bearded white God who visited their ancestors, performed mighty miracles, taught them His pure religion, then left with a promise to return, to convince the people that they (the white and bearded Spaniards) were representatives sent to them from this same God. They learned that from the tribes, who initially welcomed the Spaniards because they did resemble their traditions, then turned it to their advantage to help conquer the tribes.
Naturally, the Spaniards then used a combination of force and doctrine to convert the native populations to Catholicism. It is said that one reason the Spaniards treated the natives so harshly is that they viewed them as backsliders from the Christian religion, since there was much evidence that they had known Christian principles in earlier times, then apostatized, turning to idolatry and human sacrifice, etc. They found traditions paralleling knowledge of Adam and Eve,the Flood, repentance, baptism, the resurrection, and other Christian fundamentals in addition to the ancient appearances of their God, whose promised return they were still anticipating.
The Book of Mormon describes the visit of the resurrected Christ to the ancestors of these native tribes, who were descendants of a branch of the house of Israel. These ancestors were a righteous people for about two centuries thereafter, but by the end of the Book of Mormon record, their descent toward the pagan conditions the Spaniards found was already well under way.
Long answer, but no, we do not selectively target Catholics. Have we ever asked you "Do you have any Catholic neighbors?" No, our scriptural duty is simply to "invite all to come unto Christ" (D&C 20:59).

Imagine the boldness of going in to a Church and doing the Muslim ritual prayers. That, in effect, says, “we don’t have to respect your religion. we do what we want”. Some liberals may see this as a freedom of speech. That is a false argument. Freedom of speech doesn’t supersede anyone else’s right to freedom of Religion. That is the right to worship peacefully. This was an act of aggression! Don’t let the flowery tongue of liberals or Muslims fool you. Spain is under attack now just like it was during the crusades. This time the Muslims have implanted themselves into many different cultures and that is what is different this time. Wake up people. Islam is VIOLENT.
