Does the Catholic Church view Israel as God's "clock" or whatever, like many fundamentalists seem to? Or are they indifferent to Israel, and if so, why?
I'm not yet Catholic (will be Baptized at Easter), but I've been wondering what the Catholic Church's view/attitude is towards Israel.
Thanks.
How the catholic church views Israel is immaterial...how God views Israel is all that matters and His view is that they rejected Him and killed His Son, therefore Gentiles have now been offered salvation. The Israelites lost their chosen status when they rejected the Messiah. They are definitely not God's clock, He doesn't have one and is not limited by time.

I may be wrong, and I don't mean to offend anyone.
I have the impression that the Roman Catholic church discourages converts. Perhaps I'm wrong.
I was interested in becoming Catholic, but I have the impression that I'm not welcome in the faith because I wasn't raised Catholic. I'm having second thoughts, because I don't to belong to a religious faith where I'm not welcome.
Why are converts not welcome in the Roman Catholic church? What really doesn't make sense... is that I understand that they believe that only Catholics will have salvation. It doesn't make sense that they would discourage people from converting.
I have the impression that the RCC doesn't like outsiders, but yet they believe only Catholics will have salvation. Why is this?
I'm sorry if I offended anyone, and I don't mean to. I'm just searching for answers.
I want to belong to a faith where I'm WANTED.
I'm not sure why you have that impression because it doesn't square with my experience as a convert or that of other converts I know. I was welcomed into the Church and made to feel at home, long before I was confirmed in the Faith. People answered my questions and helped me learn what I needed to know to participate fully in the Mass and the sacraments.
If you are picking up uncomfortable vibes, would it be possible to take RCIA classes at another church in your area? Sometimes a priest has a mannerism that puts off other people, but another priest will be very understanding and helpful. Maybe it's just as simple as switching churches and finding the congregation and priest that is in tune with your personality.
As a convert myself, I'd love to welcome you into the Church and do anything I can to help you as you study the Catholic Faith. I have a lot of reference material that I can access to answer questions you might have, or if I don't have the answer, I'll try to find someone who does.
God bless you on your spiritual journey!

in the profession of genetic bioengineering, how could one stay loyal to the faith but continue research? i mean, how does the church feel about altering genes of a fetus to change a mutation? how do they feel about altering a humans genes to stop a tumor, or to prevent a tumor. Is it alright to test DNA to see if you have a probabitlity for cancer? any help would be good
pls, only catholics, cause i need christian view points
Bioethics and Biotechnology cover a lot of issues.
The Catholic Church supports some of those issues and does not support others.
Catholics believe that from the moment of conception until natural death, each human being is endowed by God with dignity and rights.
As long as this human dignity and these human rights are protected, the Church has no problem with Biotechnology.
For example, the Church
+ Supports stem cell research as long as the stem cells were not taken from an aborted human being
+ Is not against the use of Biotechnology in agriculture but advocates prudence and regulation
+ Is absolutely against human cloning but rarely mentions non-human cloning

With love in Christ.
Marx was an atheist who decried religion and advocated violent class struggle that would be cyclical and never ending.
In reality, the holding and sharing of a common wealth for the mutual benefit of all is close to the ideas and ideals of the original Christian communities.
However, the Holy Roman Catholic Church has always been more about the gathering of material wealth and political power than about spreading the gospel message as it might have been understood by the original christian communities and, therefore, the ideas of Marx would be seen as a contender for the same.
Rivals are always disliked and disrespected.
Be well.
My estranged husband and I were married 7 years ago in a civil ceremony, with all references to God removed as he claims to be an Atheist. My very Catholic Aunt freaked out the other day at lunch upon learning of the type of ceremony I had and that our vows were not made to God. She further states that this now makes my daughter a bastard child. I never know when she's shooting from the hip or if she actually knows what she is talking about. Clarification please?
Your aunt is wrong on one point and right on another.
She's wrong about your daughter. You were legally married when she was born, so she's legitimate (legal...legitimate, get it?). The Church does not determine a child's legal status, although it used to years ago before civil governments performed marriages.
She's right that your vows weren't made to God. You said that yourself, that all references to God were removed from your ceremony. That means the Church thinks your marriage was legally binding, but not spiritually binding. So if it ends in a legal divorce, you have no spiritual obligation to him, and you would be able to get a fairly quick and inexpensive annulment for that marriage and be free to enter into a marriage that is both legally and sacramentally valid later on, if you wanted to. Or you could also reconcile with your current husband and have your current marriage blessed in the Church, if he's come around on the whole atheist issue.
