church directory

I am working on our church directory and need to be able to put the family picture in and under this post names, addresses, phone numbers, birthdates of family members. We had a well known company come in and try to do this but they did not offer what we wanted. So, we are trying to do it ourselves. Any thing that is not real expensive would be appreciated. Hope to have several options to look at. Thanks!

I don't know of specific software for this purpose, doesn't mean it isn't out there, though.

There ARE a number of organizations that have software specifically tailored towards the needs of churches, whether that is an addressed need or not, I don't know. Have you consulted with local Christian Supply Stores? Try a web search using various search strings like "prayer software" (that will take you to software developers who may have other church oriented products). Also go to software websites (like downloads.com and others) and look under the religion subcategory for products listed there.

An alternative, is to create a template in whatever Word Processor that you use. Once the template is created, then the fields can just be filled in.

How would you go about removing the stain and the smell without destroying the book.

That would be really hard to clean since in order to clean most things, you need to get them wet, and a wet book is an unhappy, damp, and warped book. I suggest you get another one or copy the names somewhere else, I don't know how many people are in your church!

I'm reading a photography book at the moment and I'm currently reading the portrait section. The author talks about shooting portraits for a church directory and I've no idea what one is. Please help!
Maybe it's the American name for something to do with weddings?

A church directory is just like a phone book for a church.

Churches often do photo directories because it's very common to know someone in your church by thier face and not thier name.

With a photo directory if someone says oh call Bob Smith about that, in you actually sit next to Bob Smith every Sunday you won't make a fool of yourself by acting like you don't know him ( You'll recognize hm by his picture.)

The up side for the photographer is many famlies choose to get a full set of family photos take ( purchased) at the same time as their church directory photo.
