How was the orthodox church founded and are the beliefs same or different from that of the catholics?
1. One of the most important differences between the Catholics and Orthodox is the doctrine that the popes of Rome have absolute authority over all other bishops throughout Christianity and that they are infallible in matters of doctrine. Both dogmas had never existed until the 9th century, when more and more Roman popes were seeking to assert their spiritual authority as the supreme expression of the Faith. Eastern Orthodoxy cannot accept such beliefs because these ideals were never part of the early Church. Early Christian bishops, including Eastern Orthodox ones, have always utilized a consensus of opinions and spiritual authority, usually by council or synod. It is this wider perspective of decision-making that is considered infallible r egarding matters of doctrine and absolute authority
2. In the 5th century a new doctrine surfaced which was called the Filioque. The Filioque is the name of an additional phrase of the Nicene Creed that says, "and the Son". The Nicene Creed originally said, "I believe.....in the Holy Spirit....who proceeds from the Father." The Filioque makes the Creed say, "I believe....in the Holy Spirit....who proceeds from the Father and the Son." This additional phrase became more and more accepted in the west over the centuries until the 9th-10th centuries when more and more popes began to declare it divinely inspired. This phrase was recognized as creating a false perception of the Trinity, as though there is a hierarchical structure to the Trinity, rather than a perfect Triad. This is why Eastern Orthodoxy cannot accept this new doctrine.
3. The Catholic church also began to believe in another new doctrine, which states that the Virgin Mary was conceived and born without sin. The early Church, including Eastern Orthodoxy, believes that the Virgin Mary was capable of sinning, but she successfully resisted sin her whole life. If she had been created without sin, then this would mean that she was not exactly human, and therefore Christ's Flesh was not exactly human, and so He could not have taken on our whole human flesh in the truest way in order to save the human race
How old is the ORTHODOX faith? If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Catholic Church, in the year ...
After being in schism from the Catholic Church, is the schismatic Orthodox Church ever going to convert back to the Catholic Church? They have been separated from the Body of Christ for almost 1,000 years. Are they ever going to convert back to the faith of Christ again?
The great famine of the 21st. century will end upon the unification of ALL Christian Churches in the One Catholic Church in mid. 2020. Nothing whatsoever will cause the great famine to end until Christians repent and convert and unite in One Holy Catholic Church. The Church will then be restructured to have seven divisions within unity: 5 parts for the formerly Protestant Churches, 1 part for the Latin Rite, and 1 part for the Eastern Churches.

A.The Orthodox Church did not believe in Jesus Christ.
B. Only the Catholic Church followed the pope.
C. In the Orthodox Church, priests were not allowed to marry.
D. The Catholic Church wanted to use Greek as the official language.
B is the answer. But the disagreement was much more fundamental. It had to do with trying to explain the Trinity, which seems like a silly thing to disagree on because of course it is a mystery, and who can explain a mystery anyway? Nonetheless, the Orthodox took the position that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father alone. And Catholics take the position that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Love between the Father and the Son. That whole issue is called the "filioque" which is Latin for "and the Son".
I am Catholic and I believe the Catholic position cause it makes a lot more sense in describing the Trinity and of course the Catholic Church has taught it infallibly, which means it is true. I just cannot see why for over 1000 years, we have been separated by this issue.

She wanted two weddings and after the Catholic Church told her they would not marry her, she lied to them. She told them that she would not be getting married in the Greek Orthodox Church after all. Then did it anyway after she got her wedding in the Catholic Church. Her Catholic wedding was in the United States and the Greek Orthodox was in Australia. My husband her brother has a real problem with her decision to lie to the Catholic Church, I think he should just leave it alone.
I would say the first church they got married in is the valid one. Last time I check lying to a church is a big sin...she must not be that religious and according to their rules she is going to hell for lying/
Both Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox Church leaders make the identical claim that they gave the world the Bible.
If both the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches make the same claim they gave the world the Bible, why do they have different books in each of their Bibles?
Who should we believe?
You might want to try to appeal to pre-Schism councils (e.g. Carthage). Those seem to, for the most part, support the Roman Catholic canon (e.g. the absence of 3rd and 4th Maccabees).
A great book covering the history of the Biblical canon (though mostly from the perspective of Catholics and Protestants, with very little focus on Orthodoxy) is Gary Michuta's "Why Catholic Bibles are Bigger". This work covers the different councils, as well as the positions of several Church Fathers. You also might find his bibliography particularly helpful in this matter.
The following site...

...also lists the canons employed by different Church Fathers or codices.
Another issue that might make this even more difficult is the fact that the Orthodox canon is not exactly uniform. For example, the Russian Orthodox Church still employs 4 Ezra (also called 2 Esdras or the Ezra Apocalypse), as it appeared in the origincal Slavonic Bible. The Greek Orthodox church, however, does not include 4 Ezra (as it was never part of the Septuagint).
I had just asked a similar question in the past few days, and got no satisfactory answer. It is a tough subject for me. Please keep us informed as to what you find!
