why do protestants entirely neglect the orthodox christian church?
Virgin Mary

We hear all about this distance among catholics and protestants, but at least catholics are recognized as existing. you'd be surprised by how many people have no idea that the orthodox church exists, and that is a very sad thing indeed to be unaware of nearly a third of our christian brothers and body.

I'm ashamed to say I didn't until I talked to an orthodox man about 10 years ago.
Then I studied Christian history and you'll turned up again :-)
There aren't many Orthodox churchs where I live. There are hundreds of RC but not orthodox.

I have respect for the orthodox church. I"m not thrilled with the child sprinkle thingy but other than that you'll are my christian bros and sista's.

The Orthodox Church - A visual journey

This video presents some sights and sounds of the Orthodox Church.

Ethiopians welcomed the year 2000 at midnight on 12 september 2007. The country's christian orthodox church?
From a balcony

(continued) uses a calendar that has 13 months & is 7 years behind the rest of the world . So should the country's christian orthodox church follow that calendar? If YES than why?If NO than why not?

ABSOLUTELY YES.. I WOULD CELEBRATE THE ENTUKATATASH AS FOLLOWED BY THE OLDEST CALENDAR IN USE TO DATE AND THE MOST CORRECT ( ACCORDING TO SCIENTISTS)

Ethiopia Celebrates the Third Millenium start September 12 2007

ETEOPIANS USE THE OLDEST CALENDAR IN EXISTANCE TODAY
IN THE YEAR
(7-13 MONTS ( 8 YEAR BEHIND THE GREGORIAN CALENDAR IN USE TODAY.
Ethiopia used the Ethiopic calendar, which is the oldest Calendar in existence, and is the only Country to celebrate the New Year 8 years later than the rest of the world.

Andromeda, Inc. is an organizer to celebrate the Ethiopian New Year in Atlanta.

ETHEOPIA CELEBRATEDS CHRISTMAS ON JANUARY 7/
New Years
Easter afther the 2 nd Sunday after the full moon
Ethiopians celebrate in Accordance with the Orthodox Calendar.
Easter by the Western Calendar is called Equaqutatash
ETHTEOPIAN New Year is always held on September 11th (or 12th in the case of a leap year).

EHIOPIANS IS THE OLDEST CALENDAR IN USE TODAY AND SAID BY SCIENTIST TO BE MOST CORRECT>. I WOULD USE IT FOR ( OBSERVANCE OF MY FAITH ).. ( WHY CHANGE IT I
AGREE>

I WOULD USE THE GREGORIAN CALENDAR FOR ALL OTHER
NON SECULAR EVENT> THOUGH WE DO LIVE IN A "MODRN" WORLD
According to Harvard University Professor Ephraim Isaac, most scholars that have studied Biblical times agree that the Ethiopian calendar is much closer than the Gregorian to start its calculations of time around the birth of Jesus Christ. Some put this event in the year 0 of the Ethiopian calendar, while most historians hold the founder of Christianity was born in year 3 of the same calendar - or year 5 in the Gregorian.

While those wanting to celebrate the 2000th birthday of Jesus will have a lot of confusing dates to pick from, it remains clear that Ethiopia enters its new millennium on 12 September 2007, according to the calendar used by mosth others. And it also remains clear that the Ethiopian millennium party will be an outstanding event.

ENKUTATASH.. NEW YEARS EVE.. GIFT OF THE JEWELS
As every year, Coptic Ethiopians will celebrate the Enkutatash - meaning "gift of jewels" - holiday on their New Years Eve. The event stems from an ancient tale: When the famous Queen of Sheba returned from her visit King Solomon in Jerusalem, her chiefs welcomed her bolts by replenishing her treasury with jewels. The spring festival has been celebrated since this early times and dancing and singing can be heard at every village.

Kyrie Elieson,

Is it true that the Greek Orthodox Church is the most conservative of all the Christian Orthodox Church?
Craftmanship, black ceramics made at Marginea in Suceava County

How does the Greek Orthodoxia influence in the Greek Family and people? Because I heard that the Greek Family is very strict conservative and religios hermetisist

Maybe you didn't know but the Greek Orthodox priests can marry, have sex and kids like normal people and that's why we don't have many pedophiles and gay priests like the Catholics.
The Greek Church had been there for the Greek people when we were under the rule of barbarian turks. Greece was under turkish occupation for 400 years, at that time most of the Greeks were uneducated. The Greek Church was our only link to our history of the past. The Greek language and the Greek Orthodox Church were the only link among the Greek nation while we were under the humiliating turk occupation.
More than that, the Church had a great role in the Greek revolution and all the other difficult times of the nation, for example the struggle for the freedom of Macedonia and Cyprus.

For anyone who will say the lie that the turks let us practise our religion freely I answer with history: The turks didn't destroy the church because in their system they needed people of other religions in order to "drink their blood" from the taxes, so they could live wealthy and the people like slaves. Plus some kind of religious freedom was gain after the victory of the Russians against the Turks because the Russians made them give religious freedom.
