Is the Greek Orthodox Church accepting of converts to the Orthodox faith who are not ethnic Greek?
Konstantin and Helena

We've got a great Greek festival in my town each year. It's held at the Greek Orthodox Church and attended by thousands upon thousands of people. It's obvious that the vast majority of festival volunteers, from the church, are ethnic Greeks. Many speak Greek.

I assume they would accept non ethnic Greek converts into the Church. I know Orthodox Christianity is growing fast in the United States. But would they accept the converts socially? Would the converts be embraced and warmly welcomed into the community?

Yes, absolutely! I'm a non-Greek convert to Greek Orthodox Christianity, and I have to say you will never find a group of people more warm-hearted and welcoming. Even if they speak Greek a lot, it guarantee it is not out of a lack of love or disrespect--they just don't always realize people around them don't understand because most people there do speak Greek. They are very warm hearted, loving, down to earth people who love God very much and will accept you as if you were part of their family. God bless you on your journey. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or other concerns.

What days of the week do Eastern Orthodox members go to church?
Mănăstirea Văratec, Neamt, Romania

Are there any Eastern Orthodox people out there? What days of the week do you go to church? How long are the services? What time of day are they? I want to know all of this because I want to go to and Eastern Orthodox Church. Do I have to be baptized before I can even go to the church? Please answer. ^_^ It'll be cool! :) I can't give you a cookie, but you will get points.

The main service, the Divine Liturgy, is on Sunday morning and lasts about two hours. Many churches have Great Vespers on Saturday evening which is about an hour, unless it is a Vigil (Vespers and Matins), which is an hour and a half to two hours. There can be services for various feasts on any day. Hours vary--check with the specific church before you go.

(Sorry, there aren't any near Kanab.)

Anyone can attend, but you have to be Orthodox to receive communion. Be sure to stand for the Gospel reading and the Lord's Prayer--you may end up standing for the entire service.

Is the Orthodox Church ever going to convert back to the Catholic Church?
Mănăstirea Văratec, Romania

After being in schism from the Catholic Church, is the schismatic Orthodox Church ever going to convert back to the Catholic Church? They have been separated from the Body of Christ for almost 1,000 years. Are they ever going to convert back to the faith of Christ again?

The great famine of the 21st. century will end upon the unification of ALL Christian Churches in the One Catholic Church in mid. 2020. Nothing whatsoever will cause the great famine to end until Christians repent and convert and unite in One Holy Catholic Church. The Church will then be restructured to have seven divisions within unity: 5 parts for the formerly Protestant Churches, 1 part for the Latin Rite, and 1 part for the Eastern Churches.

How was the Russian Orthodox church involved in the Russian Revolution?
At the Cross

I was reading animal farm and i got confused because Moses the raven was supposed to represent the Orthodox Church and I never really understood what he was supposed to be doing and what had happened during the real Russian Revolution. Can someone please help me a bit?

I don't remember many details of Animal Farm, which I read a really long time ago, but the church was very strong in its support of the monarchy. I'm not sure what they did under the provisional government, but they strongly opposed the Bolsheviks and supported the White's in the civil war.

The Orthodox Church threatened to leave the World Council of Churches if a gay church joined. Thoughts?
Warsaw Church

One orthodox priest said "if we allow gay churches in [churches with gay priests in them], then what's next? The alcoholic church? The gambling church?". The council abided by the orthodox position.

Well, Sisyphus:

It's fine to be hot against sin, but the Orthodox church venerated statues and changed God's Sabbath many centuries ago.

So, whoever breaks the least of these commandments will be least in the Kingdom.

The Greek and Roman church will soon combine, though--as all churches unite to form a one-world church and combat terrorism.
