Should a church or other religious organization change with the times?
img_2250_std

Many religious organizations have softened or outright changed their stance on certain issues over the years (Anglican Church allowing women and gay priests, Catholic Church recanting its support for the Third Reich, South African Church supporting gay marriage, numerous Hindu organizations coming out against the caste system, etc.)

Should a church or other religious organization change with the times and shifting of the social landscape, or should their core principles remain inviolable, even if it means the ongoing unpopularity or even abandonment of said church?

Optional question for bonus credit: What country are you from?

if the environment changes and the church doesn't change it will not be well adapted to the new environment and the church will go extinct.

I am pretty sure there is social evolution for religion too.

How many religious/church services (if any) do you attend per week?
img_2248_std

Does your church have one service per week? Two? More?

Does your church have services on a different day than the Lord's Day (Sunday)?

Has your church started decreasing the amount of services, or increaseing them?

I've noticed that many churches are starting two services on Sunday, and cancelling anything else. Have you noticed this in your area as well?

Also, has anyone else noticed that churches are not have "service times" but "exsperience times"?

"Experience times"? Never heard of that. Interesting.

I go to church on Wednesday for either Bible Study or Prayer, and then on Sunday for Worship Service. There are sometimes other things that are going on as well (once a month we have a Youth Service)

Hope this helps!
Good luck, and may God continue to shine on you.

Can you be religious without going to church?
img_2237_std

If you must be religious in order to believe in God, as some insist, then must you go to church?

Is salvation no where to be found except in bricks and mortar?

@"Can you be religious without going to church?"

Hebrews 11:6.
I never considered having Faith in The Father religious, that's what people think. People don't think for me.

Read the story again about the Samaritan woman.
The Lord set the stage for me, when He told her that her worship, going to the mountain was not necessary (anymore)...in the days of Moses until He told her that, The worshipers went to the mountain Sinai to worship. (Now today they worship at the wailing wall), but Jesus told her that she (did not know what she was doing).
God is Spirit and NOW we worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
What is truth? Get your salvation in order..Romans 10: 8-12.
His Word is Truth.
I can go on...but I will stop.
I don't like long responses either.

We are the temple that God dwells in now...never was any temple made with hands.
John 4: 1-(23-24)-26.

Remember the Ethiopian and the Phillip?
Phillip read Him about Jesus in the Book of Isaiah and then told him about the baptism and the Ethiopian got baptized right then and there and went on his way..he didn't have to join anything. He got saved.
Acts 8: 26-40.

These are our examples.

2 Timothy 2:15.
Keep studying.
Some one may need to hear the truth from you some day.
God will be proud.

Honor God with your life style.

Bless you.

Wedding in catholic church when not religious?
img_2234_std

I am not a religious person but my finance is Catholic. She would like to do a wedding in the church. What do I need to do? Do I have to go to catholic school? Training? Procedure? What need to happen to make it official? What would the church ask me to do?

Thanks

The Catholic Church allows marriage between Catholics and non-Catholics.

You do not need to convert but you will have to take a pre-marriage class with your fiance just like everyone else who gets married in the Catholic Church.

Because the Church recognizes the tremendous challenge that the interfaith couple will face, they may have to get permission from the bishop.

Can a college require mandatory attendance to their religious gatherings/church?
img_2249_std

Doesn't that infringe upon the rights given by the first amendment?

Does this differ from private to public universities?

If your college does, chances are that your college dean and administrators are in some weirdo sect. It is no secret that many crazy lunatics of the scientology and moonies are in top positions of the ivy league universities.
