Where's the best place to buy religious jewelry (crosses etc) in NYC?
Don't pay those high prices. Shop on the internet. It's as simple as typing "Religious Jewelry" in the search box.

I have a small cross on a chain that's kind of important to me. Will I be allowed to bring it and wear it during basic training? I know jewelry isn't allowed when in uniform, but I've heard conflicting reports that religious jewelry, like my cross, can be worn during and after basic.
Oh, and by the way, this is Army basic training I'm talking about.
Yes you can wear your cross and necklace to basic. Just so long as you keep it tucked in your shirt, and you can also wear it after basic as well.
To give you a better understanding you should read

This elegant, antique style cross is both a symbol of inspiration and a striking yet classic fashion statement.
A sparkling expression of antiquity!
Do you openly wear religious jewelry, i.e. a Cross necklace, Star of David, a Pentacle, etc.? If so, do you find that others treat you differently (either positive or negative) when you wear such these symbols? Have you ever chosen not to openly wear or display such items because of others' reactions?
In some instances it does cause others to treat you differently. I don't have a choice at my job as to whether or not I can wear such jewelry; it simply is not allowed.
I have always been fascinated by certain religious symbols, the cross, hand of hamsa and the star of david to name a few, I have found many pieces that are incredibly beautiful pieces of art and I enjoy wearing them as well, even though they have no real symbolic significance to me, another friend of mine said she feels hypocritical every time she wears a cross because she is not a christian. I told her that you do not need to be religious to enjoy its artwork. Am I wrong in this? Am I being hypocritical?
Some Atheists currently wear mock-religion symbols:
http://evolvefish.com/fish/fsm.html
- The Flying Spaghetti Monster pin
- The Invisible Pink Unicorn Logo
- And the full Pirate Regalia, of course...
But there is no "official" symbol of Atheism. The people who arbor the above-mentioned items do so to protest against the rise of religious influence in the World.
Atheism isn't a form of religion. It harbors no beliefs and its tenants aren't an organized groups.
Now, there is nothing wrong with harboring religious symbols as fashion accessories, it's no different from getting a tattoo of some Chinese character without knowing for sure what it means.
