If the necklace comes in contact with soap and water, will it deterioate the necklace? Will it make my neck turn green? :)
If the cross is sterling silver it will not tarnish with constant wear...gases from the air, sulfur is what causes tarnish, when the jewelry is not being use...like sitting in a jewelry box for a long time...the stainless steel should be okay as well...I wear sterling rings all summer long...swim in them, etc...never had one tarnish.

I bought a silver cross necklace at a thrift store and on the back it has the numbers 7210 stamped into it. trying to figure out if it's real silver or sterling or silver plated. Any help is appreciated.
might also be 72.0
hard to tell if its a 1 or a messed up dot
They probably made a certain amount of those necklaces and yours is number 7210 in the series of them. It won't have anything to do with if it's real or not but it probably is if they took the time to do that.
I have my own website and have made my first sale but the necklace I sold I am unable to find that same cross. Please look on my website it is called Swavorski Elegance Cross Necklace. This is my first sale and I have to make a good impression she is from Australia! Thanks for your help!
Have you checked to see if they have there own website
I have always worn jewerly and sterling silver is my favorite. For Christmas my husband bought me a very expensive sterling silver necklace from Helzberg Diamonds. I noticed it was turning my skin dark.. you could see the outline of the necklace after I took it off! Then I would wipe it off my skin and it was gone. I took the necklace back and they cleaned it. Came home.. same thing. Now today I was wearing a cross necklace I have worn for years.. sure enough, took it off and a dark pattern of my cross was still on my skin! Why is this happening all of the sudden? The only things that changed lately is that my thyroid medicine was raised and I did have a miscarriage this last year. Other than that, I have no clue what is causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Essentially the Black is silver oxide or tarnish that is transferring to your skin from the necklace.
Reasons include:-
1. The necklace is too tight. It often occurs with rings, when there is no opportunity of air forming a barrier between the silver oxide and the skin.
2. Silver Oxide is a result of the silver coming into contact with Sulphides. Sometimes the transfer of silver oxide onto the skin is accelerated when the skin is ommitting a higher degree of sulphides (Sulphur) than usual - this could be a direct consquence of the drugs you are taking.
3.The necklace still has a residue of polish chemicals on its surface. Washing it in warm soapy water and throughly rinsing it to remove any sulphies in the soap can sometimes help.
