catholic cross pendant

My friend had this necklace which had that black shiny (Nylon?) "string", and the charm was shaped kinda like a rhombus, it was bronze/gold colored, and it was I'd say about 8-10 little crosses that overlapped each other. The best way I can describe it is that it kind of resembled the pattern of Chex cereal, except that it was really the crosses making this pattern. I myself am not Catholic and don't know much about it's symbolisms or anything really, but I was wondering if there was perchance a name for this pattern? See, my friend lost this necklace and it was very important to him, and I'd like to try and see about getting another one for him, but seeing as I don't know what to call it, I don't know what to ask around for.

It might be a Jerusalem Cross, but that has only five crosses; one large cross, and four small (one in each corner).

It had Saint Christopher on the front, and a maltese cross on the back, as I remember it.

It was round, with a choice of colors for the necklace pendant.

Does anyone else remember this?

Oh, and...you didn't have to be Catholic to do this.

I remember my dad talking about that. He went to a Catholic high school, though, so I thought that was only a Catholic thing.

OK my mum recently became a full on devout catholic due to a new realtionship with a full on devout catholic. I have been looking for a present for her and thought I might get her a cross pendant. I am confused about the difference between catholic and christian symbols. Do Catholics wear a crucifix with jesus on it or just a plain cross? And is it appropriate to be covered in diamonds? This new man of hers is VERY strict (wont even let her watch Medium) so I don't want to get the wrong cross and then she doesnt wear it. Please help!

And catholics are more into the jewellery and symbols arent they? They seem to like Mary a lot more than just plain christians do. Look I dont know much about religion because I am not religious so please forgive me if I say anything you think is stupid and just tell me which one is mroe suitable.
She has already read the bible, I think once is enough... Besides something shiny and gorgeous is a much better present.

Well, I'm a Catholic and probably a good bit older than your mum. I've worn simple crosses - all Christians like these, including Catholics - and crosses with the figure of Jesus on them (called crucifixes). I think mainly Catholics like that one. You should buy your mother whichever one you like, though the crucifix is a bit more 'Catholic'. Definitely avoid the one covered with diamonds - doesn't fit with our idea of Jesus!

He wants a gold cross chain similar to the one pictured. What size should I get him? He has already done the measurements

neck size: 14 inches (he used a tape measure and wrapped it around his neck. Not sure if thats the correct method. If not please correct me)
